    Remus didn’t know about the Sirius/Peter secret keeper switch because Sirius thought that Remus was the spy. As much as I like to pretend the prank didn’t happen, it was a serious betrayal of Sirius to endanger Remus in such a way. He’s passionate and reckless-the fatal flaws of a Gryffindor.
    I’d argue that James is more Hufflepuff than Sirius. James, who took Peter under his wing, Sirius under his roof, and Remus under his protection. James, whose blind loyalty to his friends, is what killed him and his family in the end. J brings up James trying to fight Voldemort wandless, as proof of his bravery. I say it’s proof of his loyalty and his trust that his friends would never betray him, that he would be unarmed when his family is in so much danger.
    “No, I think you’re like James,” said Lupin, “who would have regarded it as the height of dishonor to mistrust his friends.”

      She is very hardworking, heck she took all the classes, while helping hagrid save buckbeak, which also somewhat proved her loyalty!
      And she has a sense of justice, (SPEW), and that's not it but I don't feel like making this comment 'times Hermione fought for justice'
      All of this also leads back to determination, which is a slytherin trait. And her smartness and Thurst for knowledge makes some believe she would be suited for ravenclaw, but what about creativity? Thinking outside the box? The only part of Hermione that could be mistaken for those is actually cunning. Hermione is very cunning, and doesn't really let much get in the way of what she wants, which goes back to Ambition.
      So yeah, I think Hermione is more hufflepuff slytherin.

      It seems kind of logical for me. They needed not someone who will die before releasing the secret, but someone who wouldn't be attacked at all for it. Sirius and Remus probably both were known by the Death Eaters as James' best friends and most loyal protectors, so of course Voldemort would target them first to find Potters. Peter was an obvious choice because who would think that they trust a secret like that to him? He would've probably been dismissed as a source.
      Little did they know, he was already loyal to Voldemort, but that's another thing entirely. From Marauders' point of view he was the perfect secret keeper because he probably wouldn't been attacked at all.

If he knew from Peter that someone had been made secret keeper I don't think he's going for the house elf. The other option I've always wondered about was could a ghost or magical object could be made a secret keeper? Right, it’s so heartbreaking how much they trusted Wormtail? 😔
      Though I don’t think Sirius thought Remus to be the spy bc he was a werewolf; Sirius loved Remus, as he did Wormtail and obviously James. I don’t think he would’ve judged him based on that... They effing turned into Animagi for him! Remus also admits that he thought Sirius might’ve been a spy _before_ J&L die.
      I think it’s bc these two are way more interesting targets for Voldemort to try to infiltrate/Imperuse. Both are much more intelligent and talented than Wormtail, and Remus even could be used as a dangerous weapon (like Voldy is using Fenrir Greyback). I think that’s why nobody suspected Wormtail... bc he really has nothing to offer. Except for his connection to the Order. 🙄

    Even though the book always talks about Harry as a slytherin, I’ve always thought that Ron was the slytherin and Harry was the hufflepuff.
    In the first book, Ron saw himself as head boy, quidditch captain and winning accolades in the mirror of erised, so we know what his deepest desires are, whereas Harry sees his family. Ron gets incredibly jealous when Harry achieves anything, hardly the poster child for Hufflepuff.
    It appears that their nurturing up until 11 would lead them to be Hufflepuff (Harry - because of a lack of family), Sytherin (Ron - always overlooked and never having nice things) , Ravenclaw (Hermione - her parents being intelligent, dentists valuing her education), but perhaps the hat knows best as each character then spends 7 years effectively ‘unlearning’ these personalities forced on them through their upbringing and becoming closer to their ‘true’ ‘best’ self.
    That feels like a very Rowlingesque message to me.
    Arguably, the entire book series is about kids learning (or failing) to grow beyond their ‘lot’ in life into stable ‘good’ adults, their upbringing prior to hogwarts is the thing to which every important character is rebelling against.
    Sirius would have done well in Hufflepuff, however it doesn’t fit the theme of redemption through rebellion embellished by the other characters. James on the other hand seems to fit Hufflepuff perfectly, however let’s not forget just like Harry we know for a fact he chose Gryffindor.

    6:31 I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately and they go over lots of passages of the books that I haven’t read since I’ve become a wolfstar shipper 😅 so I’ve been commenting on your vids about subtle things I’m noticing for the first time from that new perspective. This time stamp is one of them. Like they were always together! Harry just wanted to talk to Sirius but it’s like him and Remus are a package deal. Idk I just find that really cute and it explains how people first came up with the head canon of Remus and Sirius being together!!
    12:34 also this frame? I mean come on 😂

    I've always had the thought of gryffindor being "the house where you choose to go to be more".
    To me, most gryffindors could easily be sorted into one of the other 3 houses. Take the golden trio: Harry Slytherin, Ron Hufflepuff, Hermione Ravenclaw. To me, Gryffindor is a choice.

      I think my main point of Ron not being that loyal is true in both the books and the movies.
      But as devil's advocate, you could say that movies make it a bigger thing.
      For one, they make Hermione a saint and Ron useless, so that when he leaves it makes him appear worse than he does in the movies.
      Secondly, in the books Ron is a much better and kinder friend to Harry than Hermione is. Sure, she gives them all the answers and does the difficult magic for them, but she is very annoying and she doesn't take Harry's side most of the time.
      Like how in PoA, she tells on Harry when he gets the Firebolt and doesn't apologize when it gets taken. Or in HbP when she acts smug that the Prince led Harry astray with Sectemsempra.
      Ron more often seems to have Harry's back in the smaller situations and is a better friend to Harry, always agreeing with his point of view and being a good mate. And the movies never show that.
      That would make both of them seem sort of unloyal. But I definitely think that the Carlinbros missed the boat when they breezed over this fact. Because when the chips are down, Ron is too unloyal to be a Hufflepuff (when he turns his back both times), but he is brave enough to be a Gryffindor (when he puts aside his ego and comes back).

    I never thought about it this way, but now you can’t convince me otherwise, SIRIUS ORION BLACK IS A HUFFLEPUFF!!! Also, I before finding out he was a Gryffindor, I immediately thought “ravenclaw” for Lupin.

  • @beccajanestclair
    @beccajanestclair Před 3 lety +1

    Lupin is a total Ravenclaw. My headcanon is that since Lupin met James and Sirius on the train and James said he'd be a Gryffindor and then Sirius gets sorted there ahead of him, he asked the hat to put him there so he would be with people he already knew.

    This video makes a lot of sense when it comes to everyone's patronous. Ron's is a Jack Russel Terrier, another dog like Sirius, showing his loyalty to his friends. I think everyone's animagus form is a reflection of their patronous and that's why of Marauders knew they didnt have to worry about their forms.

    • @kathzemiau7234
      @kathzemiau7234 Před 3 lety

      I disagree. Patroni can change. Animagi don't. There might be a correlation, but i certainly doubt it is a rule that applies to all cases.

      @mitchellowens8141 Před 3 lety

      @@kathzemiau7234 I would love a video or documentation for patronous vs animagi forms. I think that the patronous animal comes from your soul and that's what is pulled for the animagus. Obviously after you take the form, you won't be able to change but, it also took a completely world shattering instance for Snape's patronous to change.
