  • Hina and Paul spent many years seeing the world, but now their only view is the unsightly kitchen in their neglected home. Time to decide whether to renovate or re-locate.
    Pitting property against renovation, homeowners must tackle the question of whether to remodel their existing houses or sell. Interior designer Robin Lewis uses state-of-the-art graphics to simulate a dream renovation in their current homes, while expert realtor Vanessa Roman tries to convince them to move by showing a property that perfectly matches their wish list and budget.

    Should have done reno. The other houses to choose from didn't give them what they wanted and they're more in debt. Doing a reno would add huge value to a house they love for less money than moving. The 'reno' is still sub-par since the curb appeal is shabby.

      I am pretty sure these shows choose people who have already made the decisions to do a particular thing, and the rest is for entertainment. I think I remember a few "reveals" about shows like this "showing houses" that weren't even for sale. I also am pretty sure the show makes everything very "black and white" because they don't want to deal with complex life decisions. So, it's entirely possible this couple already chose to move, because they had 1000 other little decisions that made them want a new house, rather than the one they were in, even if it were as basic as, "I just don't want to be in this particular house."
      Also, if they have the money, and are comfortable, I don't see the mortgage + expenses as an issue. The show drums things up for drama, and leaves things out for the privacy of the sellers/buyers. It's likely they lie about the cost of the houses, and the couple's budgets, too.
      Mostly, I just like seeing people's houses, and the projects, which I think is more the point. Like a bad plotline to an adult film; the plotline isn't the point, eh? ;)

    If they are selling their house, the numbers on the front need to be cleaned or replaced. The wall outside to the right of the door is shabby. People see basic items shabby before they walk in makes one concerned that maintenance items haven’t been maintained either.

    Wasn't the house they wound up choosing the one where she said, *Wow, we're getting a workout today* (or something to that effect).
    They'd better put a tiny snack fridge in that bdrm or they'll be hauling it all from the 1st floor kitchen. And wife also mentioned something about "forever" home. Haha. In 20 yrs they won't wanna make that climb just to sleep.

    @ruththomas1652 Před 3 lety +14

    Sorry, but my bet is on that they trash the new one also. If a couple can't do simple R & M on one place, what makes you think, miraculously, they will suddenly become do-it-yourselfers? Sad.

  • @monikamahon3544

    Why couldn't they have presented the initial reno at a cost of 12k instead of 30k? Also I'm surprised the house is still standing after 15 years of neglect. They didn't need to move on my opinion if they just gave their house some love

  • @serenakoleno9338

    I agree they should have stayed. I also am going crazy trying to place who Hina sounds like. Maybe there are other factors they didn't mention like lousy neighbors or bad drains, etc. I wish them luck in new place. I think they will maintain it. Now they aren't traveling and baby is growing. The decor in their house is nice. And chefs work long hours.

    First time i felt the couple chose wrong option. They could have just spent on renovation. The house had bedrooms which were smaller, no parking n very small basement.
    I guess 3rd was best option for living n space, specially thinking of neighborhood where property is sold fast so if they think to relocate they can have quick n higher money.
