@@MandyintheMaking hi there. Your tarter sauce, do you buy fresh dill every time you want to make this sauce, or is there some way to always have the ingredients on hand? And do you use the onion in it or leave it out?

Tinned salmon bones are so soft I just mash them up with the salmon. I can't wait to try those salmon patties. Salmon patties in the past were made with mashed potato so I know exactly what Steven means. I also added fresh ravioli to my next shopping delivery, those toasted ravioli had my name written all over them lol. So glad you're all on the mend, Covid is terrible. I love my air fryer so much, I bought a dual one, so now I have 3. I've done away with my oven and now just use a combi oven. I love roast potatoes, fries, just about anything in it. Its changed my life completely. Thank you soooo much for sharing xxx

I can relate to the Billy Goat thing. My 15 year old, BLONDE grandson decided he was giving up shaving for the summer. He looks like he fell face first in a cotton field. Can't wait to try these dishes. We've been living out of the air fryer during heavy humidity here in the north. It's been muggy most of the summer.

I make salmon patties ALL the time and my entire family loves them! I don't mind deboning and skinning the salmon b/c I know they are going to be GOOD! lol I've never air fried them before. Usually I just shallow fry them on the stove. I've also never used mayo. I usually just shred my salmon, add an egg, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to mine them fry them. I'm definitely trying this method! Thanks for sharing!

I never used an air fryer, but I do have one without direction book. You have given me some ideas on how to use it. Hope you guys get feeling better soon.

I'm so glad you are on the mend. I wish a full and speedy recovery for your entire family. I was happy to see this show was air fryer recipes. They look wonderful and I can't wait to try them. The reason those little round bones are in the canned salmon is because the cannery crams cross sections of salmon into the cans, skin, bones and all. Those round bones are the vertebrae of the fish. I don't like to eat them so I always remove them. You should be able to make this recipe with canned tuna, as well. My favorite sauce for salmon is a mixture of mayonnaise and Sweet Baby Ray's brown sugar and hickory barbecue sauce. I start with a mixture of 2 parts mayo and 1 part SBR's BBQ sauce. You can adjust it to suit your own taste. It's also a great dip for sweet potato fries, regular fries, chicken strips, fish sticks, a spread for sandwiches, burgers, you name it.

Glad to see you all are feeling well enough to continue taping and cooking! I love watching your videos and the recipes I've tried are delicious! When I make salmon patties, I clean the skin and as much of the bones that I can find. I also add a can of tuna, onion, egg, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon pepper, egg, and panko or bread crumbs. My mom would make creamed peas to go on top with milk, butter and flour. It was a stinky dish, (from the fishy smell) but it was delicious and we all loved it. My adult sons (3) liked them as well growing up. I'll have to try that in my air fryer. Looks fantastic!

My mama always made (and I bet his mama did, too) salmon patties with crushed crackers and worcestershire sauce, and, before I was old enough to voice my disgust, she would leave the bones and skin in - apparently it made more patties - it was the '70's. Anyhoo, I can't wait to make these; they look like they'll be fresher tasting and, actually be good, rather than that cloying weird concoction my mama made. I grew up hating fish, but now that I'm Catholic (we don't eat meat on Fridays, except for fish), it's fish every Friday. This will be a cheap and easy way to eat salmon. So thanks for sharing this. Been making salmon patties forever. I only use Red Pacific Salmon because pink salmon can have quite an assertive fishy taste...also, momma always told me to smush all the bones and leave them in cuz they're very high in calcium and only really remove the skin, all the fluid and skin went to my Lab, Lola, what a treat..recipes vary but I like them all. So glad you are feeling better. 😊
In St. Louis, where these originated, they are called toasted ravioli, and are on pretty much every Italian restaurant menu. These little goodies have been around for ages, as have I, so I can attest to eating my share of them!
Normally, they are stuffed with a yummy seasoned meat mixture which is ground very fine, almost like a pate.
Sprinkle them with more grated Parmesan cheese before serving...Extra Good!
    Blessings!🙏🏻

Since I didn't have salmon, made this with good quality tuna. It was awesome! Especially with your tartar sauce recipe! Bought a can of salmon today so I can try the real recipe.

My Mom has used canned salmon for years to make one of my favorite recipes. Salmon Cakes. She fried hers. I was lucky enough to be able to make them myself before she died. I usually put the formed patties on a plate and stick them in the frig to set up some before cooking. They seem to hold together better. I have not tried them in an air fryer but I may try to next time. I have a Ninja Multi-cooker and it has an air crisp option. It has been really helpful this summer so I didn't have to turn on the oven as much.

I have eaten salmon patties made with canned salmon all my life. It was something my Mom made for supper fairly often. I was a little surprised when you said you'd never used canned salmon. Anyway, the first thing she taught me was how to clean the salmon. I learned that the bones were edible years later, but I still clean them, and the skin out of my canned salmon before I make patties. Leftover fresh salmon (my family almost never leaves leftover fresh salmon) also makes delicious salmon patties.

I now get skinless, boneless salmon at Dollar Tree. It's a small can, but I have stretched it by using albacore tuna, drained, and pour the juice from the salmon can over the tuna and let it take on the salmon flavor before draining and combining them. Once I was presented it that way one time I can never go back. Try it!

I don't own an air fryer but, I enjoy your videos so much, I watch anyway. Canned cheese?!? In 2 recipes?!? My head is spinning... Lol! I find the "pouch" of salmon is higher quality. Hubby, Steve is the bestest audience..I would love to get this enthusiasm once in a while.

Mandy, glad you're back and that you all are feeling better. Regarding the salmon Pattie's, I always buy the canned Chicken of the Sea water packed salmon....no bones or skin. Just be sure to drain. I just started making these this past year. Didn't think I would like them, but I do! I love my air fryer also!

Salmon patties were a staple in my household growing up. Mom always removed most of the bones (I do too ). We ate them smothered in creamed peas. Yummy! I love that dish to this day, but in my family, only I eat the creamed peas. I'll try them cooked in the air fryer next time.

Hey Mandy, I don’t know if you know but the clear button on the outside of the air fryer on the basket is the latch for it. If you push it forward while you open, it will open a lot smoother. ❤

Got a kick out of Steven using the word "Womperjawed". My Mom used to say that when something wasn't quite right. Brought back fond memories🙂

Growing up in the south we always used can salmon. We always debone and pick out the skin. My favorite way to use it is for salmon and eggs. Makes the most delicious breakfast! Can’t wait to try this salmon patty recipe.

My Mom used to make Salmon patties when we were kids. One spring she was making them and the windows and screen doors were opened. I kept hearing meowing, we did not have cats, I looked out the front door and there were 6 or 7 cats sitting on the front porch meowing loudly wanting salmon. I told Mom “Mom, we have a problem” 😂 just about every cat in the neighborhood it was so funny to see.

I'm so glad y'all are feeling better! OK, so, I buy the boneless, skinless salmon in the pouches. It's a little more expensive but so very much worth it because I just cannot deal with the skin and bones. I know that most people just leave them in and make their patties but I just can't. I'm extremely picky about that. And it takes me a ridiculously long time to get everything out because I cook enough for 6 people. I wear gloves so my hands don't smell like salmon for days. So, what I do is buy 7 pouches (the pouch is a pinkish color) of skinless, boneless salmon and put mayo, eggs, Red Lobster seafood breader (instead of bread crumbs) and sometimes I will add some crushed up Saltines if it's too wet. Then I take my big electric frying pan outside and fry them up. I don't fry anything inside because I don't like the smell in my house. I usually end up with 22-24 small-ish salmon patties but I figure if I'm going to all that trouble I might as well make a bunch and share. My mama makes homemade mashed potatoes for us and we have black eyed peas and the best part.....Pillsbury Flaky Layers Biscuits. Now, being a southern girl I love some homemade biscuits but when it comes to salmon patties, those canned biscuits (it has to be flaky layers) are the best. Me and mama make enough for my in-laws (they're a little older and have some health problems so don't cook any more). Salmon patties are one of our favorite meals so I'll be glad when it gets cool so I can cook some. 😂

Ever since I watched this video, I'd been thinking about salmon patties so I made some yesterday........32 of them! They were small-ish though, about the perfect size to fit on a Grands Flaky biscuit! Anyway, I realized that I forgot to say that I do drain the water from the pouches. I just tear a little slit in the top and then squeeze the water out and then tear the slit the rest of the way. And for reference, I used 7 packs of salmon (the 5 oz size package of Chicken of the Sea Wild Caught Pink Salmon), about a 1/2 cup (maybe a tad more) of Duke's mayo, 3 eggs, a little salt & pepper, and 1 1/4 cups Red Lobster seafood breader (I sometimes use Haus Autry brand and can't really tell a difference in them).
