    In this video i wanted to take a closer look at the marvelous RSI Galaxy in Star Citizen.
    Originally i didnt pick this ship up as i had numerous ships in my fleet which could do the same job.
    Since then however i have downsized my fleet and needed a ship that was both easy to operate and versatile, enter the galaxy..This ship looks amazing and has great utility in the form of its modules and to add icing on the cake this ship will now b e able to build our space homes. This ship now ticks all the boxes for me and i truly cant wait for its release!
    The Galaxy is a modular multirole ship manufactured by Roberts Space Industries. Focusing on versatility, the Galaxy is capable of equipping its crew to handle any task in the 'Verse.
    Modularity
    The Galaxy’s chassis is built around a configurable mid-ship space that supports interchangeable modules, empowering you and your crew to take on a wide variety of professional roles.
    Hangar
    One of the key features of the Galaxy is its rear hangar which has an 'XX-Small' landing pad. The hangar has a connecting doorway to the modular space. The hangar also provides space for 64 SCU of cargo. The 64 SCU cargo grids are 2x32 grids spaced at the edge of the hangar and do not interfere with the hangar metrics, allowing both an XXS ship and 64 SCU to be stored simultaneously.
    Crew accommodations
    The vehicle is designed to run with a crew of six, each with their own room, with the Captain having their own ready-room. There is a mess-hall and a recreation room with a pool table for relaxation.
    Weapons
    With three remote turrets (each equipped with two Size 5 guns) as well as two Size 4 missile hard-points (each carrying four Size 2 Missiles), the Galaxy can hit back hard when needed.

    I already own a Pioneer, but I had also purchased a Galaxy at concept release for the refinery and the (hopefully real this time) modularity. My very first entry into SC was the RSI Constellation (before they had variants) but I had actually drifted away from RSI as a manufacturer in my ship choices because I wasn't really liking the look of them compared to others like Origin and Crusader Industries. That said, the Galaxy looks pretty nice and the functionality seems rather unique.

  • @JL-rj9fl
    @JL-rj9fl Před 7 měsíci +1

    Congrats on picking one up PIN! I purchased mine for the refinery module believe it or not (my friends enjoy mining gameplay), and hoped the manufacturing module they mentioned in the ship's module specifications section on the Galaxy concept sale page would be related to base or component building (also my dream). The cargo module is also amazing - more than people realize! If you go to seaport and you see those cranes grabbing and loading containers, imagine how fast you can load out containers in the Galaxy. Ignoring the rear compartment, we can carry 16 of the 32 SCU containers to make up the 512 SCU. The cargo lift can take down two at a time they said, which means lightning fast container delivery to outposts and other locations. I believe it's the very best internal storage cargo bay of any ship in star citizen (for moving containers specifically) in the game. :) Edited to reflect location of manufacturing module reference for accuracy.

    Also nice editing with the script and images, something a lot of other Star Citizen creators aren't making efforts in lately. Instead they just roll clips and voice over the images despite them not matching the point(s) being discussed very well or not at all. I appreciate the effort to match visuals with the dialog.

    what I got from listening to CIG through the years about the economy. Is that it have to be fun. For solo players getting solo ships, it should be relative easy, but you always got that end game ship, like F8C type.
    The player should be able to get relative easy, a duo or triple crew ship. But after that it's a org level to get one, or many many hours. They don't want every player to get a Idris..
    But I'm not sure tmit would be only the price, or how much money you are able to get per hour. It's more about the complexity, you need fuel, ammo, supplies, spare parts, crew to be efficient or be able to protect yourself. And the job to get all of this into your ship. And the death of the Spaceman. If you lose your ship, everything on it is gone. Your rare alien jump drive, your vanduul ship canon f.ex. and your character is also dead, only be able to resurrect an finite amount of time. And each time be less of the original. And I haven't mentioned how Quanta can also play a part of this.
    This will put real constraints, on your choices in the game. You actually are risking everything. So CIG has many ways to affect how players can get shipsz and use them.

    I'm curious about crafting seeing how during the Citizencon pannel about basebuilding they talked a lot about crafting, it seems like basebuilding ships will be able to craft buildings among other items, meaning the Galaxy could be a small space factory.

    I bought a CCU for the base Galaxy because I thought it had potential to become a key ship in my fleet. But now I feel that thought was an understatement.
    Now I just hope my post in Spectrum "Modularity Flexibility" gains traction and is considered by CIG. In it I describe how ship modules can be treated as vouchers which allow you to swap your ship's module at facilities made to support swapping them if you own one in the system. This way you don't have to store a specific module you purchased and instead can swap them out at locations designed to hold all types.

    I feel like they need to do with base building what they do with ships: Snub, Small, Medium, Large, and Capital
    That is, have a spread of ships that can build different sized bases. Something like a Freelancer Max sized should be able to build the micro bases (like the Aid Stations that are basically just a place to shelter inside and maybe an XS vehicle spawning pad and micro solar collector; would be cool if you could do crazy stuff like tuck one in a cave on an asteroid to make a little asteroid base...), something like a Constellation should be able to build very small bases (small solar collectors, hydroponics, hydrogen collectors), something like a Galaxy should be able to build larger emplacements and more types of components, etc; and then of course when we get to the other end of the spectrum, the Pioneer should be able to build anything and everything.
    Not saying necessarily THOSE SHIPS, but you get what I mean, something on those sizes for the various scales of things.

      @JL-rj9fl Před 7 měsíci

      Right on, that'll be fun. The modules are also interesting if we're limited to where we can install them. Another goal you might consider is to have a few main areas/systems you operate in and store duplicates of the modules you use most often for convenience. This way you wouldn't need to return to your main base of operations to get that done.

    it also brings the community closer that way cuz you're gonna need protection which is super cool

    Well that changes everything. The fact that they'll be adding *more* modules to the Galaxy makes it far more attractive (as if it wasn't visually stunning already) than the next-to-top-tier flying bases like the Odyssey, or carry all your smaller single role ships in a Liberator.

    I hope the carrack gets a upgrade to all size 5guns. That ship has so little fire power. With size 5 it would still not kill much but at least it would Hurt to attack it. The galaxy is a smaller ship with size 5guns + missiles and pilot controlled weapons. It's a much better ship for defending itself and the carrak is suposed to be a ship with Military backround. Wonder how the Carrack A is outfitted. Size 5 on wings size 6 on top and size 4 on the bottom would probably make it a competent scout.

I see these base building capable ships only worth it if you’re planning on making money providing those services to others.
