      @@l.f.6627 Oh I know. When I did marching band, I LOVED PLAYING MY INSTRUMENT (trumpet). I almost feel bad for the kids now who barely play for half the show and spend WAY too much time doing modern/interpretive dance and pushing props around the field. They are being robbed of their time to shine as musicians on the field in my opinion.

    No question the Cavies were the corps of the Oughts, just as The Cadets were the corps of the 80’s, (83-85,87) and if one goes by 83-93, that’s 6 championships in that time span.

    • @timber72
      @timber72 Před rokem

      @@jeffe_77 "Number of championships" does not determine which Corps dominated a decade.
      Garfield (since we're talking about the 80s) placed 7th in '81, 3rd in '82, 4th in '86. 4th in '88, and 5th in '89.
      SCV, on the other hand, placed 3rd in '83 and '84, and 2nd *every other year* in the same time period.
      Do the math. SCV comes out on top with 5 (5!) 2nd place finishes, 2 3rds and 2 titles. Garfield doesn't even come close.
      And, Garfield should not have won '87.

    • @jeffe_77
      @jeffe_77 Před rokem

      @@timber72 I hear ya, I would love to live in a world or multiverse where Vanguard pulled off the Threepeat in 87-89. I personally think they were robbed in 88. I would love to live in a world where they would field a corps this year 2023. Sadly we don’t live in that multiverse, sadly we live in a reality where SCV got 7th in 1980 and the Cadets won those championships and at the end of the day when you have 2 corps that had tremendous success in the decade, got to by the rings and the results that took place, not what we desire the results to be. You do make a point about Garfield’s off years. But like they say, “history is written by the victors”.
