A friend of mine did this for a couple. Had a contract where he signed off his rights. The couple ended up breaking up and went to family service for help, had to put down the bio dads name. The judge threw out the contract they had and he’s now paying child support. The judge said it has to be court order contract or lawyers had to set it up. Think twice and make sure lawyers are involved if you want to help people out.

@Michelle Hillman That doesn't sound right, since in the contract, he signed away his parental rights and the purpose of his "work product" was to produce a child who would be cared for by both parents. The parents splitting up doesn't mean there aren't 2 able-bodied adults who can pay support. That's no different than 2 traditional parents who had a sperm donor splitting up. There are either other circumstances to that story, or it's not true as you heard it.

The way the laws are set up they go after biological parents unless it's an adoption involved. The only exception would be if someone else's name is on the birth certificate as the father.
It would be the same senerio if it were to men instead of women.

Despite the tears, it’s hard to muster up any sympathy in this case. The plaintiffs spent a few hundred dollars and had the nerve to sue the defendant, despite his efforts. Couples spend tens of thousands of dollars on fertility treatments that still fail. There are no guarantees. This guy was willing to injure himself for peanuts, and it still wasn’t good enough for them. The fact that they chose to sue and pin the blame on someone who wasn’t at fault at all instead of simply continuing to pursue alternative options is what makes them look gross.
They seemed like they had no clue how male anatomy works, and figured he could just get hard and drop A1 samples at the snap of their fingers.

Nope. They could have him sign it, get pregnant and go straight to court and get him on child support. It is well established in the law that the only way you can donate and legally relinquish your parental rights and RESPONSIBILITIES when donating is to donso through a licensed fertility clinic.

@@jmw2899 Sperm lives 72 hours and you ovulate once a month. One sample during three days is sufficient. It might take several months to make both of them pregnant.
If they can’t afford artificial insemination perhaps they can’t afford a child. This is just insane.
It's also unsanitary not to mention they could have diseases or he could be carrying something funky & spread it amongst each other. There is a reason why this process all takes place in a sterile office & under a doctor's supervision. They all could have put each other in danger medically, physically & if one or both would have gotten pregnant, they then put the baby at risk as well. I swear some people have no brains. Everything happens for a reason & GOD said *ABSOLUTELY NOT* although GOD loves his children, he knows these people are not fully cooked & have a lot of growing up to do mentally before he blesses them with a child

I understand that women get knocked up on "accident". Poor judgement really, but that's at least only one evening of poor judgement while horny. They're planning this for month and not once do they consider the consequences?
Artificial insemination includes upfront costs and aren't always covered by insurance especially because it's considered "selective" rather than a requirement. Caring for a child is expensive over time. I've been in their shoes myself and people often misjudge when they don't understand how much it takes.

It'll never be theirs together biologically. It's like going to the wig shop and buying a wig; biologically, it'll never be yours. They can pretend all they want, but it will never be theirs together. It'll only be theirs individually. If both got pregnant by him and went their separate ways, they would each take their own child. Furthermore, it would be just like two friends with children living as roommates. That home would most likely be divided, and conflict would persist. It'll be " me and my child" in many conflicts and arguments. This relationship could never be blessed. It's not a part of God's plan.

You know how much that costs? How long it takes to be approved? It can take YEARS to be approved for an adoption. Yes, it’s an option. But when it’s 1000s of dollars to “buy” children, it’s cheap to make one yourself. Not all those who have the money deserve children, and quite a lot of those who don’t have the money do. That’s why children stay in foster care their whole lives.
If they are worried about $700 they will never have the means to adopt.
@@michellepower1782 This is true. My aunt adopted two children when she and her husband both were found to be infertile. They spent tens of thousands on 4 failed adoptions (for babies) over 10 years. They lucked into an adoption, and the baby had all the signs of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. They spent years in therapy, but it wasn't easy. The next adoption they did in Taiwan, and that was even more expensive. She also had problems that required therapy. That does not mean to say that a child you gave birth to would not have those problems, of course (my son has autism), but you need a lot of money to adopt and you have to realize that any child you adopt from the foster care system or from people, there's a higher chance of that child needing more help than usual.
Yes, for sure. I was in foster care till I maxed out at 18. And I would’ve LOVED LOVED LOVED to have a home. A home where I had two parents that loved me and took care of me....😞😓
In fact there was a couple that wanted to adoption me, but then my bio parents said no,,,but STILL kept me in foster care!!! They didn’t want me and didn’t want to take care of me but didn’t want anyone else to want me either....😞

Personally I think it would have been a miracle if they'd both gotten pregnant within two weeks. Some couples try for months or even years before being successful. Even one of them getting pregnant would have been a huge accomplishment. The fact that they looked up stuff online but knew nothing about male physiology was sad. I came THIS close to donating sperm in college when I needed money; but, decided if there were any children running around out there that came from me, I wanted to be part of their lives, and backed out.
You dodged a whole missile. Look up surrogacy contract lawsuits. Besides the idea of leaving your children, with potentially anything that could abuse them as soon as they realize a baby takes work or is no longer of any use to them it’s straight to the abuse and abandonment.

This is THE most insane thing! 🤦🏽♀️ Why would anyone ever even *think* to shop for a sperm donor on Craigslist, of all places? Did they require medical information to, at the very least, check for communicable diseases, and at the most, check for congenital/genetic predispositions? Does he have an adequate sperm count? Have they had THEMSELVES checked out physically to confirm that there are no issues that would preclude them becoming pregnant? And just as JM said, and I also know from experience with my husband that when you are actively trying to become pregnant, there is definitely planning and “strategy”involved, to include tracking ovulation, underwear type, positions, frequency, etc., all of that can play a part.
