10:06- I think the real terror is that if Gero's spy bug robots go to Namek, they could collect all of the data of the fighters...including the Ginyu Force on top of Freeza, Dodoria and Zarbon. Cell with Guldo's time stopping powers would be terrifying, since he's less likely to let his breath go so easily.

Actually I think minus the whole not killing goku thing I think Gero would have some pride in knowing that his creation far exceeded all of his expectations and beat down some of the strongest people in the universe. But thats just my opinion. Like hes not going to be all baha thats my son hes going to be more like "wow my creation succeeded in saving the universe and my genius rivals the power of the gods!!!"

Doctor Gero saw King Cold, Frieza and SSJ Trunks if he took their DNA, but looked surprised when he saw Goku transform. Also, he should have been able to tell by at least the movement speed that this transformation greatly increased battle power.
Writing is never gonna be perfect but there are some simple plot holes that could have been easily corrected with due diligence.
I believe it was a mini-robot that was collecting DNA, but it was sending information to a computer that was taking care of cell. So it could be said that Dr. Gero Stopped personally monitoring them just before they went to namek, and everything that happened after that was monitored solely by the computer and not by Dr. Gero himself.

I completely agree that Gero may be limited with how powerful he can make himself, but Android 19 wouldn't be restricted in the same way. I think that if he learned about Namek, he would have either figured out a way to make 19 stronger following whatever methods he used to make Android 16 or completely scrap 19 and perfect 16/17/18.

I think it depends on when Gero stops watching. It's pretty much set in stone that Gero stopped watching after Goku and Vegeta fight. If we only move his watch up to Namek being destroyed, then yes I feel like he still would lose. The thing is the Z Fighters were able to train for 4+ years (year until goku comes back and then I believe 3 before Gero) to the point that Vegeta catches up to Goku without as massive of a zenkai as the one Goku got on Namek and Piccolo is also strong enough to fight Gero.
If Gero saw this change he could have done something differently, but this brings up the question, "why wouldn't he make himself as strong as possible regardless?" My guess is there is a limitation to how much he can amplify the robotic parts and he already hit that threshold. That being said, as retconned in Super, the androids (17/18 at least) are able to train and grow that way, so if Gero truly was scared enough he could let them out sooner to train. Whether or not he can control them is up for debate though. In a "perfect" world, he scraps 19/20 and focuses on absolute control (or at least control to the point he doesnt die) of 17/18 and then trains them instead. How? Idk, the only way that makes sense that wouldn't cause a commotion is gravity training or something which would be ridiculous on infinite stamina beings.
As its said, almost certain he made 19 like that to gauge their power, like he was a older model that was completed first, who was along with being immensely more loyal so he took 19 on the test spin at first and 17/18 being a last resort (16 being a defense system for the base.)
(And if including 13/14/15 they were probably a test for what he intended for cell and then became an abandoned project that was never actually meant for use.)
What if Dr. Gero used warriors (people like Krillin, Tien, Roshi and Yamcha) to make androids 17 and 18 instead of normal teens?

What if Bulma created an advanced training facility *within* the hyperbolic time chamber?
Technically she could with her capsule tech. She could build a device and then stored it into a capsule. But there wouldn't be a need with how harsh they said the chamber was.
Would be a more efficient way of utilizing the chamber. We never get 100% confirmation about the Chamber having more gravity than the stated 10Xs Earth 🌏 gravity within it. Bulma’s ships (that Vegeta trains in a lot) can go up to 400Xs. Couple that within the Time Chambers time differentiation, they could get WAY stronger 💪🏽 in a shorter amount of time. They also need to take some senzu beans to recover quicker and keep training more frequently without the need of “rest and recovery” time.
What if dr gero turned Frieza into Mecha Frieza
It would change nothing, because Gero knew already about the two strongest things that happened on namek, Goku and Frieze, especially Frieza since he incorporated his DNA in Cell.

Time freeze plus being faster than all the Super Saiyans of the time means he's getting *everbody* on Earth.
This would be very interesting and I always had a what if about it
I feel a missed opportunity is when the androids are supposed to have been studying the Z fighters, they show no signs in using any of that research besides for how strong to make the androids and how strong to make Cell. What would have been cool is showing the androids dodge and counter every move and technique the Z fighters use, and turn those moves against them too. They make it sound like they studied their techniques so its useless to use it against them, but all they've done to show the fruits of their labor is actively scan the fighters to see who's who (no prior research needed), and brute force a fight like anyone else or get curb stomped (no prior research needed). 17 and 18 seem to not know much about the fighters, 16 scans them, and Cell only uses the research to explain how he got dna and knowledge of how to use the moves only. No countering or anything. Such a missed opportunity to make some fights cooler I'd think, forcing the fighters to develop new strategies on their feet and learn how to counter their own moves and maybe learning from weak points, making the fighters look more competent and badass.
Even 17 and 18 with their infinite energy, despite not using that detail much, is still used in their fights, pointing out how Vegeta and piccolo are getting tired while the androids aren't, slowly turning to the favor of the androids.

Yes, I think His body was temporary, if you have robot body you have no limits pretty much, you can keep upgrading yourself everytime you progress your technology.
How would the spy bots get back from namek it got blown up. also I imagine the spybots would have to hitch a ride with either bulma/gohan/krillin or goku. I doubt gero had a ship/could make quicker thatn dr briefs in the time given once he finds out the gang are going to namek, that would also get his spy bots to namek and back again in time to collect all the data for most of those fights.
I think 16 proves he definitely can make something more powerful but 16 is such a mystery, even 17 and 18 was like wtf as well as Cell so we're their databanks purposefully misinformed? Is it impossible to really tell their power? He's also the only one with specific modifications for combat I always wondered if he had other tricks up his sleeve Gero put In
If this were the case then Gero would've likely given Cell some enhancements so he could use a Super Saiyan-esque form along with making 17 & 18 stronger. He also would've likely added scouter technology to the Androids. Both of these would be huge game changers for the Android saga as they would allow Gero and the others to know just how strong the Z fighters were getting and plan accordingly.
Personally I doubt Trunks and Gohan would've survived long enough to go back in time in the first place. Future Bulma would just escape to the past, while Cell ends up absorbing every human who 17 & 18 don't kill, until the three of them are the last ones left. Cell wouldn't even need to travel to other timelines, he'd just absorb them and be done with it, destroying Earth and laying waste to the universe until he has to confront a pissed off Babidi and Dabura (because he kinda destroyed Buu). Cell destroys them and probably ends up destroying the entirety of U7, at least unless he doesn't end up killing Shin and Beerus just wipes him away. In other words, the Future timeline is fucked even worse than it was with Zamasu.
Future Bulma would just stay in the past and force everyone to train even harder than they do in the Main timeline. Goku wouldn't even lose due to the Heart virus because Future Bulma is there to cram the medicine down his throat. They wouldn't even need to worry about Cell, so Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Piccolo would defeat the Androids using the HTC, suffering no casualties. Babidi and Dabura are likely gonna get squashed in this timeline, meaning no Buu, and Elder Kai being trapped in the Z sword still. Everything is up in the air from there.

I'm guessing you mean that Vegeta in this what if had mastered SSJ like Goku and Gohan did, but pushed his limits to reach SSJ2. In that case he's not gonna do much until Cell is revived, besides absolutely dicking on the Cell Jrs in MSSJ. He probably would just humor Goku by letting Gohan fight and seeing how strong he was. Once Trunks dies he's gonna just go HAM on Cell in SSJ2 (he'd already be SPC's equal without rage boosts), and for once we'd get to see a rapid fire energy blast actually kill someone. After that though both Gohan and Vegeta would be down in the dumps about how they had the power to end Cell and yet they still basically let him kill Goku and Trunks. Once Trunks gets revived though I think Vegeta's gonna just drag Trunks back in the HTC and have him master SSJ and access SSJ2.
During the 7 year gap I think Gohan would actually keep his training up a bit, so he still stays at his Cell Games level, while Vegeta is gonna probably be equal to Goku. Seeing as Vegeta is Goku's "equal" in this what if and Gohan is more than strong enough to kill Dabura, he has no reason to go Majin and so Buu just stays trapped. Vegeta also never acknowledges Goku as better.
Without Buu, Goku isn't gonna need to desperately gather everyone for the ritual, but he's probably gonna do it anyways so he can have a rematch vs Beerus, only the fate of the world isn't at stake this time so it's more amicable.
ROF goes about the same only Gohan doesn't have the dilemma of him possibly having been able to do something because he never unlocked his potential with Elder Kai.
U6 and the Zamasu arc go entirely the same.
During the ToP arc, Gohan gets brought to the Kai homeworld to train with Kibito and Shin, Piccolo gets dragged along too, and both get their potential unlocked by Elder Kai. Then they also get a light amount of God Ki training with Whis too and now both Gohan and Piccolo are on the same level as Goku Blue.
Pretty much everything remains consistent up until Gohan and Piccolo vs Saonel and Pirina. This time, Gohan and Piccolo beat them down and they instead merge with Piccolo. When U7 has to go up against U4, U7 suffers no eliminations because Piccolo never gets eliminated by a bug. Then when it's U7 vs U3, Piccolo being there prevents Aniraza from being formed, so A18 is still in the ring for U7 vs U11.
Gohan and Piccolo fight Toppo together while 17, 18 and Frieza team up to take down Dyspo. Dyspo is hard countered by 17(more so with 18 backing him up) so nobody gets eliminated there. Piccolo is actually equal to Justice Toppo so with Gohan helping, Toppo is put on his back foot. Then 17, 18 and Frieza all join in to gang up on Toppo and force him to unleash GoD mode. Toppo eliminates 18, but everyone else is just left cratered for the events of 126 to basically go unchanged.
Since both Gohan and Piccolo are still in the ring, they help out with trying to fight Jiren, but 127 still goes down the same way. In 128, Goku ends up getting some energy from Gohan to stand while Vegeta and Piccolo get their crap kicked in. Piccolo and Gohan get eliminated, but Vegeta doesn't and gets the heck out of the way when UI Goku comes out.
129 and 130 play out the exact same way. Vegeta and Frieza team up on Tired Jiren and finally eliminate him, leaving 17 as the only conscious contestant.
TL;DR, Vegeta getting SSJ2 in the Time Chamber doesn't exactly change much.

Diseal Fury she couldn't have built Androids. she needed geros blueprints to understand the Androids. if they trained in the time chamber they would have mastered super Saiyan. beaten the Androids. with no Androids to absorb cell would have been toast.
Correction: Dr Gero didn't make any mistake at all because he did succeed in the FUTURE timeline, which is the actual timeline, to kill Goku's friends while Goku himself died of a heart virus. He hasn't miscalculated at all.

Technically Gero did win. It took Trunks to time-travell and change the events of history
Sure. You forgot one detail. His robot would never come back from Namek since everyone there came back by teleportation. Keep in mind that only intelligent creatures that came back. The fishes were nowhere to be found. Btw Ginyu counts as intelligent since only his body was a frog. None of the space ships came back so it's fair to assume that the robot won't either unless it attached itself into someone else like Bulma, which is a very risky move that Gero's AI would never take. Keep in mind that Dende wished to teleport everyone back in the Namekian language which the robot would not be able to translate. The commands from King Kai was also executed by telepathy so there is no reason for the robot to latch on to someone. Gero would likely have even less preparation as he would assume that Goku and co. had died in their trip to Namek and would have less reasons to go with his revenge. If anything, it'd just be the same as it went in the manga.
I think the power of the androids is something that COMPLETELY fucks with powerlevels way worse than anything else in the series but i feel like people dont really ever talk about that?
17 went toe to toe with the strongest fighters in the MULTIVERSE and he was build by some human from the red ribbon army, people who couldnt even beat kid goku.
How do you do that? How do you go from lets say, Android 8 to 16 17 and 18? And how far could he have taken it? This is like Frieza training for a couple months and blowing everyone else out of the water. He went from worthless in OG DB to creating some of the universes strongest... just like that? Randomly? What if they left Gero to tinker up until Super? Might aswell overthrow Zeno at this point. Hell he couldve just kept 17 and 18 napping and just made super Cell and made him perfect from the get go. Cell would have been invincible. He would have Guildo's DNA and the power to stop time by holding his breath. Cell doesn't need air to live because of the frieza DNA.

He could have gotten the Cells of minor characters such as Zarbon and the Ginu force but I can't really see that making much of a difference
Something I always wondered was how in the flying fuck did Dr Gero make Cell, but never once thought during his development go; “Huh, this thing can learn all the moves and abilities of the fighters that hold their DNA, lets see if it can replicate the Kaioken”.
Like seriously, why the hell didn’t Cell have the Kaioken? It would have made more sense when he absorbed 17 and 18 that he was stronger than Trunks and Vegeta, but twice weaker than Goku and Gohan, thus having to tap into Kaioken to win the fight.

The only issue I have with thinking Cell would be more powerful is... would he even be powerful enough to absorb Android 17/18 in the first place? The idea was that they had similar power levels, and with the help of Vegeta they were able to absorb them. I don't know that Cell would be on par with them in this theoretical timeline change. I mean, he would have some more data to work with, but he is being developed by algorithms from a computer. And given that time didn't change and the same amount of time passed in the algorithm wouldn't be able to go any faster. Computers aren't really smart like people. They work faster, but they don't know to ignore data, they just run it all. So if there was enough time for Cell to take advantage of the new data, MAYBE he could've absorbed them successfully, but without that data, Vegeta would've likely just died anyways because of how powerful the Androids were, and Cell likely would've died as well. Then it would've been Super Saiyan 2 Gohan vs. 17/18.

Just a question that came to my mind and that I have never seen you or anyone else in the dragon ball community discuss. why was android 17 revived, when the Z-fighters made the wish to revive everyone who was killed by cell.
android 17 was not killed by cell and this is confirmed when cell threw up android 18 and she was alive and fine. since 17 was absorbed too just like 18, it means that he was still alive inside cell. so is this another plot hole?
To be fair, when Vegeta KNOWS he's outmatched he's usually smarter and more cunning, when he doesn't know that or believes he's superior he's always a dumbass.
So in this case he might not fuck up as much if he's on the backfoot earlier in the story.
Perfect Cell would be at least Super Perfect level just from his first appearance. Goku & Gohan might wanna train for another year to even attempt to compete.
Cell contained DNA from both Freeza and King Cold and depending on the timeline they were defeated and killed by either Goku or Future Trunks, both of whom would've been Super Saiyans in order to do so.
It really doesn't make sense that Dr. Gero would be completely clueless about the Super Saiyan form. Even if his data on it was incomplete he should have at least been _aware_ that such a transformation existed.

Depends on how strong he perceives Cell to be probably. Goku decided against it initially when he came out and teleported to Cell to scout him out. If Cell is much stronger, then I cant see Goki being THAT reckless.

odds are in a year Goku would have destroyed the planet. there is almost no one around there. however fortune teller baba could take him in. again extremely unlikely.
The Ginyu Force alone would make Cell invincible

Consider, however, that Dr. Gero made so many failed androids because he was pushing the limits of his scientific progress. Knowing about super saiyan wouldn't cause his androids to become any stronger, because they were designed to be as strong as he could make them with cutting edge technology. And similarly, Cell wouldn't gain much from super saiyan as the way it was designed only took DNA samples and it deliberately chose not to consider super saiyan DNA that it did have access to.
I think the most likely outcome of Dr. Gero learning about super saiyan himself, would be that he would wait longer before launching his attack, while he develops his technology to try to catch up with super saiyan. The most interesting scenario this might create could be his plans ending up coinciding with the Buu arc. The protagonists would be weaker for not having to deal with the android threat or Cell, and so it may force an alliance between the Z fighters, and Gero because ultimately, the entire world being consumed and destroyed makes it pretty dang hard to rule over.
I am thinking, given the apparent age of Gohan in Trunk's timeline vs Buu saga Gohan, Cell would likely still be in a "not quite finished yet" state. Gero would probably become aware of the threat of Buu when Babidi succeeds in awakening Buu, and would realize that seperately, neither his androids, nor the Z Fighters individually could stand up against Buu, and would be forced to awaken 17 and 18, and head out with them and 19 to join the Z Fighters.
Of course, whether he actually broaches the subject with 17 and 18 with enough charisma to get them to go along with stopping Buu or if they just murder him, awaken 16, and and become additional villains for the arc is up in the air I think.
Akira toriama made gero and 19 and the editors didnt like it, so he made 17 and 18 and they didnt like that either so he made cell and then they wanted cell to transform twice

Suppose if Doctor Gero Knew about Namek Sooner, how much different would it make? They'll just pick up several more fighters there like Nail with several Namek Warriors that were less powerful than Piccolo, Zarbon, Dodoria, & the Ginyu Forces. Since Goku is dueling Frieza in that vanishing planet, not even sure if his house fly device would make it back to earth with all those data.
Gero making 17 & 18 made no sense, & how the heck was he able to make them both have limitless energy?!!

Considering that the Androids/Cyborgs attacked 3 years after Freeza coming to Earth without Namek Prep. Wouldn't it make sense for them to take extra time to make themselves including 18, 17 & 16 stronger? And if it that happened in the OG Timeline, Goku still dies a year later due to the Heart Virus, giving Gero more than enough time to find out his death and change plans. For example, 5 years instead of 3?

I don't think it would work following Goku to namek if a drone came with Goku in the ship the drone would be crushed dealing with gravity. They'd have to follow bulma and Gohan
all the Androids were already built. so he would have started off releasing 16. 16 would kill Goku. 17 and 18 would never be released.

Dr Gero would just activate android 16 and the z-fighters would of been done for. That's what would happen if Dr Gero decided not to improve himself or the other androids
If he had sent his robotic bug to spy on Goku while he was in his spaceship, Goku would have notice the bug and destroy it while he was training on the ship on his way to Namek. Gero assumed what power level he would have reach after his fight with Vegeta

I'm in agreement that Gero extrapolated that he had already progressed his fighters to the maximum level that his means allowed. 19 and 20 were not really fighters, especially Gero. They were science weapons and as brought up he was betting on springing the trap of energy absorption and becoming more powerful before they caught on.
Gohans trouble was the dozens and dozens of times Gohan was TRAINING the androids, Gohan was chasing the dragon by powering up the androids. If Gohan and Trunks just trained for 3 years flat non stop, ignore the cities and trying to save people uselessly Gohan would have had the power to pull out a one shot while Trunks could keep them busy, i.e. a Piccolo/Gohan tag technique. Then they get rid of one, possibly 18 is the right choice, they escape and go back for 17 later. Or Trunks sacrifices and Gohan takes out 17 and then easily takes out 18, and we get a badass future Gohan we deserve.
17 has to have been resurrected with part of Cell when he died. They were literally combined/fused and not just Cell drinking people juice. So I think it would be great if 17 was partially upgraded with a portion of that DNA slurry of Cell's and the dragon could not separate those melded components... and that 17 has to kill Uub one day. Yah... 🎈🤞🎂 One shot! Uub dead! 👍
Gero having spies follow the Z Fighters to Namek would have netted him the unique powers of the Ginyu Force, and the regenerative abilities of Namekians and Frieza. Use Ginyu's abilities to put himself into 17's body?

Cell and the androids would’ve been crazy, since gero designed them to be stronger than the z fighters by a lot but unfortunately for them goku had a huge boost on namek and made a mistake by not taking trunks’ dna although it wouldn’t have don’t much since cell had goku and Vegeta’s dna but if he had trunk’s he wouldn’t have messed around and ended the fights
How do you think cell would have been different if he got genetic material from all the people from namek and frieza Force. wasn't there a guy who can actually stop time by holding his breath.

They should have had cell create 20 cell jr’s, suck the energy from the earth and then give it to cell to use as a spirit bomb as well as cell use kaio ken. Here is a crazier idea where cell and freiza are corrupted by babid’s magic. As evil as they are, imagine the power up grade they would get. I hated it when trunks destroyed king colds space ship, bulma could have used that technology. They should have had it where to train the z fighters, they would fly to freiza’s planet, talk with the scientists there, create a time machine where to train gohan, they would have him fight freiza and king cold in a past timeline as well as the ginyu force. These would be great combat experiences for Gohan as well as trunks. They also could have made a gravity chamber to simulate a billion times earth’s gravity. In hell, Cell could have created cell jr’s and had ginyu swap bodies with one of them and with that power give freiza amd the ginyu a cell jr body. Then use the namekian fusion technique to make a very op Super perfect cell.
