    How to get to Bacalar, Mexico:
    To get to Bacalar, Mexico, one of the most convenient ways is to fly into Cancun International Airport. From there, you can rent a car or take an ADO bus directly to Bacalar, which is approximately a 5-hour drive.
    Is Bacalar, Mexico safe?
    Yes, Bacalar is generally considered safe for tourists. As with any travel destination, it's essential to stay vigilant, take common-sense precautions, and stay informed about the local situation.
    Are there alligators in Bacalar Lagoon?
    Yes, technically there are alligators in Bacalar Lagoon although we never saw any. Bacalar, often referred to as the "Lagoon of Seven Colors," is a hidden gem in Mexico's Quintana Roo state. Known for its stunning, crystal-clear waters in varying shades of blue and turquoise, Bacalar offers a tranquil and idyllic escape. The town's charming streets are lined with colorful buildings, and the historic San Felipe Fort provides a glimpse into its colonial past. It's a paradise for nature enthusiasts, with opportunities for kayaking, snorkeling, and exploring the cenotes and cenote Azul. Bacalar's serene beauty and relaxed atmosphere make it a perfect destination for those seeking a more peaceful alternative to the bustling tourist hubs on the nearby Riviera Maya. Thanks, Chris and Sara!

      Thanks so much, y'all! I wish we could take credit for those drone shots, but this time those aren't ours. We aren't legally allowed to fly it in Mexico so we had to snag these shots for a stock website. :/

    Thanks for taking us to Bacalar with you! ☺️ We’re really excited to visit this area! Kramer did a great job swimming 🙌 We really enjoy exploring the Pueblo Mágicos. We’ve hit quite a few of them on our trip. Did you end up seeing any crocs? 🐊

    • @chrisandsara

      Y'all are going to LOVE it! We kept saying how perfect Bacalar would be in a van!! And no, we never saw any crocs. :) We've heard they're not often seen, but still be careful. We never swam in deep water or near the shores where there were lots of plants that crowded the visibility. :)

    • @chrisandsara
      @chrisandsara  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi there! We stayed at Hotel Circulo Bacalar and had a great experience. We got the room for just under $100/night which is high for Mexico, but not that high for Bacalar. It was a dog friendly hotel (which we needed) and was one of the less expensive hotels that had AC in the rooms which was really nice. The rate also included breakfast. Here's the Google link to the hotel: goo.gl/maps/Z2vxhCuNQYwHeWUw9
      It is a small hotel so you'll probably need to book in advance. Hope this helps and have fun! Bacalar is amazing. :)
