No band can mix beauty and brutality like Sabbath. Great choice of reaction!

Great reaction. Kind of a Celtic Irish/Scottish vibe to it. The flute solo at the end reminds me of another Birmingham band, The Moody Blues ‘Nights In White Satin”

For me the darkness of this piece "Solitude" is acceptance of Reality, and how isolated we all can feel. Because in the truest sense, no one can fully understand our individual reality. We all have seen some similar events, but our; experiences, feelings, fears, and rage colors each event for us can be wildly different. This songs binds that scope and makes it a common string that connects to us all.

Sabbath sang about the ugly sides to life. War, mental illness and really gripped the cynicism in lower class Britain. Everything on the radio at that time was all happy and fluffy about love and feeling good in general, but nost people didn't feel that way. They just wanted to reflect the shadow of society and give it a voice and meaning.

The song "Solitude" showcases guitarist Iommi's multi-instrumental talents, featuring him playing guitar, flute, and piano. A delay effect was later added to Osbourne's vocals on the song as a means of doubling the vocal track.

Growing up as a teen in the mid 80s, this song always haunted me. For some reason i use to think if i ever heard this song played on the radio, i would literally die. Even after 40 years that is still in the back of my mind. At least this song is never played on the radio, so far anyway lol.

I would love to see videos of Black Sabbath reacting to videos of people reacting to the music of Black Sabbath. I could just see Bill Ward and Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne sitting around watching your videos just laughing.

Ozzy's voice is so different in this song. Is good; it's another aspect of Sabbath for sure. A great song, so mellow, so sad. "Relaxing dark", yeah that's good man. Abracadabra, you must hear Black Sabbath Symptom of the Universe. It is from Sabotage, their 6th album, released in '75. It is thrash metal before there was thrash, but it is also full of funk and blues grooves. You will dig it yeah!
