No Man's Sky - Construction Limit Reached - Error - Can't Build NMS Fix

  • Each save has a limit of 402 bases including one's freighter base and planetary settlement, so 400 planetary bases. The game displays a generic "unsuitable location" error message once the limit has been reached. There is also a limit of 16,000 base objects per save and a 3,000 components upload limit per base. Bases which use more than 3,000 parts cannot be uploaded.

    Is deleting a base and being able to see it still actually a bug?
    I would assume if it’s been uploaded it’ll be stored on the server from the most recent upload, hence why you can still see it.
    Deleting the base is just removing the local file which frees up the space or am I wrong ?

    • @CaptainSteveVPT
      @CaptainSteveVPT  Před 27 dny +3

      The base disappears in sections of a week or so...
      In our event, if you get killed in PVP you have to delete your base...
      To the player it's gone, one day, back the next, then gone again lol... but those around the base, other players still see it, then parts of it... then after a good two weeks it's all gone... it's very odd.

    • @Lordoftheapes79
      @Lordoftheapes79 Před 27 dny

      @@CaptainSteveVPTsounds like if it's been uploaded, it just adds it to a list of "to be overwritten" on the server. This would make sense since the server wouldn't overwrite the entire thing at once, it would only overwrite what it needed to.
      I wouldn't consider this a bug, just how it works.

      Just remember to put down a base capsule before you delete your base and half your base parts will transfer to it.

      My standardized build for my mining operations makes good use of this advice, it's the same module where you may land by teleporter, connects under the intersecting landing pad to the material processing wing/office, then into a set of 4 miners x 4 silos on a neat enclosed platform, one of these ended up on the side of a mega mountain, volcanic planet (dark as hell, can't even see the bottom, MASSIVE DROP lol).
      There are many happy accidents like this in my surveys, such as a floating river platform as an Oxygen plant, benefits surely, of scattering my colonization with these standard layouts, rather than painstakingly working a bunch of bases to have as much coverage. Same layout, with terrain accomodations when applicable and voila, around 20 easily reachable systems, with every sort of key procgen variation possible (may have lucked out by choosing Hilbert). Then I have 6 custom bases total (capital ship included). Amazing planets, full on roleplay building with personal quarters on each and specialized functions.
      All of this thanks to careful modular building, taking advantage of the vanilla models and their power snap points, absolutely. Everything fell into place for a modest yet fun to explore character build. This will be capped by further sites on purple systems, when this drops. Huge game, best sandbox ever. If this even inches closer to Factorio in further industrial units, this game will be legendary and hardly topped for a very long time. That's why I'm keeping it lean with regards to savefile footprint: More stuff is on the way and it's big.
      God, I love NMS. What a joy.

    The reason you can see each other's deleted bases is that they are cached in your games memory from playing together in multiplayer. I wager a player with multiplayer disabled, visiting your base site for the 1st time, will see nothing.

    i wish Hello Games would extend the limitations. I want to build a base in every galaxy and if the parf limitation is 16.000 per save i can only use 62 parts per base, which is a little short. Also what is the limitation across all saves and are those limited to the saves on one PC or all PCs with the same profile ?

    It helps a lot to use the "Free Power" option in the difficulty menu!!! Just realize that every single solar cell, every single battery and every single wire connecting them all that you use counts as 1 part each!!! As soon as that option was available I went from base to base nuking every power system and switching on free power!!! The odd thing is that not everything that uses power gets the free power like mineral extractors. Even odder, you can power these things with anything that does get the free power!!! As an example; you can power a mineral extractor by connecting it to a light!!! To use a switch; you could connect a light to a switch, connect the switch to the mineral extractor. It's weird but it is what it is!!

    You know, at some point I gave this stuff stern consideration, right after the first build of Worlds part one was live. If I was going to have to relocate some of my mining operations because of procgen changes, I might as well trim the fat on the overall colonization process and optimize it further. So, I decided to pick one planet/moon per system for each mining operation, instead of more than one on a single planet, deleted useless bases which I thought had no purpose and ended up with easy teleports to around 20 systems in my little corner of Hilbert. Outside of my standardized mining sites, I have:
    One lunar HQ with an exocraft depot for customization and recall;
    One snow planet complex, dug into a mountain side (gorgeous, btw) where I have my exomech bay;
    One farming complex in a lush moon with modular domed farms and a nice vacation home with underground parking;
    The town of Dhust in a desert planet, with a nice enclosed space port, all very much homaging Mos Eisley (disco bar included);
    An aqua lab with nifty, fully integrated submarine bay in a sprawling waterworld.
    I see no point in building further bases, rather tweak these 5 as more interesting parts are added. Keeping it lean and clean, not only as a matter of convenience, but also as a matter of theming. In any sci-fi roleplay, these would be the sites I would visit regularly and while my base building isn't anything crazy, I'm truly happy with each of these builds and my capital ship interiors, also truly immersive, med bay, mess hall, captain's quarters, material processing, greenhouse, engine house, fleet and information center, datacenter, storage, dedicated save station, you name it. It feels custom made by the developers. If one ever wonder why this one save has 1000 hours on it, basebuilding would surely take the biggest chunk. This game is the dream toy my younger self wished for. And it's real today.

    Save build part limitations are the main reason I have 24 saves across 2 accounts now. Most of my bases are 2,000+ pcs.
    I'll likely need a 3rd account next year, especially if LNF doesn't launch until 2026.
    HG giving us 15 save slots per account was a huge help. When we only had 5 saves I'd have to delete or trim down prior bases a couple times a year!
    Also, I've been having that teleporter screenshot bug for ages as well.

I would like to get around this building cap. So you can't build as much as you want fallout 4 lets you.. It's to bad you can't here. It's like you get a million planets and you can only build on one planet. that is what it feels like. Discouraging. I wish hello games would make it so we can "complete" a build, have it permanently uploaded and embedded into the main server files and become permanent fixtures of the planets, unchangeable and permanent. They could still maintain the ability to delete any reported obscene bases. The player would have to be sure they never want to edit the base again because they would lose the ability BUT they could gain their part count and space back. This would revolutionize building across the no Man's sky universe, allowing players to go wild building cities. Please hello games, DO THIS!!

    • @CaptainSteveVPT
      @CaptainSteveVPT  Před 27 dny

      Right off the NMS Wiki:
      "Each save has a limit of 402 bases including one's freighter base and planetary settlement, so 400 planetary bases. The game displays a generic "unsuitable location" error message once the limit has been reached".
      "There is also a limit of 16,000 base objects per save and a 3,000 components upload limit per base. Bases which use more than 3,000 parts cannot be uploaded. Racetracks may also be created and shared at a player base. Base building is available to all four Game modes currently offered in No Man's Sky".
      May be I am misunderstanding things...
      May be it's not across all saves, but in the past I deleted an old save and I was could put down a base computer again... I think it's the 402 for each player... across the saves they have under that player ID.
      Some base builders I know have multiple player ID's to get around this.
