  • I recently spoke with Lars Svensson who owns Eagle Club, Denmark's largest indoor golf facility. We covered lots of talking points, from what it takes to setup an indoor golf club, what beer should be stocked to his favourite course to play indoors.
Questions were asked by the Golf Nutters group on Facebook, along with others from the /r/golf sub reddit.
How would you use an indoor golf club?! Let me know your feedback in the comments below...

Great video. Most surprising part is the number of comments. Video deserves more comments.

I am unbelievably passionate about golf and would love to bring this to a little town called "Hibbing". It's way up north in the US in the state of Minnesota. Our winters here are BRUTAL to say the least. This town lacks ... anything. It needs a spark. It needs fresh ideas and a passionate person to operate an indoor club like this so that people can experience golf all year round. I watched my dad run a business for 30 years and developed a great background/arsenal of wisdom for being successful. It's almost like the back of my hand.
The passion would drive me more than anything. Because you are only good at what you LOVE doing. I'm looking around, and researching as much as I can. This video certainly gave me inspiration! I have many plans drawn out and ready to go, including an indoor putting green with real grass/surroundings. A mini golf section that can be manipulated to fit any theme based on time of year. Hitting bays that would provide private or party time year round, providing statistics and feedback immediately (which is incredibly important) ... on top of it all, having the ability to set your phone down, and record yourself/play it back on a screen provided. Getting live help... helping people develop great fundamentals... would be the dream.

I like the idea, I’m from minnesota as well. Did you end up acting on it?

@@brockburdine4859 Currently trying to get a loan out for a building that is right next to my 9 hole golf course.
It has been vacant for years, but it has a substantial amount of land with it, in regards to area for opening up one side of it and using it as a driving range during the winter months.
However, I'm still skeptical on my current plan. I really do want to find the right crew of people to help me operate it. People that have the same passion I do for the game. That alone would ensure they are willing to put in more effort. I hope to pay them well too and base it off of performance instead of a consistent wage throughout. I really get the sense that competitiveness drives people to succeed. It sure does for myself. Pretty much what makes golf the ultimate sport, you're always going against yourself!
I'm trying to map out and fine tune what I want to achieve land/building wise. Too many times I go places and can immediately tell that the owner is just overworked. I want the operation to be smooth and with very little complexities. I imagine if I keep at this, within the next 2 years, October of 2025 or 2026, things will be a go. The grind is very real, and I have to be prepared for it all and at the same time not waste time going back and forth on "should I or shouldn't I".
Having limited food service, but high quality, would ensure smooth facilitation and operation. EX: Fryer foods/finger foods only. Allowing Alcohol to be served is also another priority. I myself do not consume it, but understand the audience attraction aspect of it. WIthin that there is separate layers of insurance and waivers that have to be put into consideration.
When it comes down to it though, coming through should be as easy as going to a golf course and playing 18 or 9. To help with that process, developing software for an app via cellphone giving access for android and iphone users would be ideal. Allowing booking times, party planners, and detailed information on everything inside/out pertaining to the establishment.
Any advice, would greatly be appreciated.
      -Johnny

Imagine if "genius" ball comes along. Putting, short game, all taken care of statistically. It would bring indoor golfing to a supreme level.
