Watched this in bed with hubby last night,the ferry was so cute reminded me of the time in holland,we had our big motorhome and this tiny ferry managed to squeeze us on to get us across river,we got across!! only problem our motorhome was faceing backwards and there was a massive steep hill from the ferry dock,yep that was a good clutch on that motorhome lol,sorry waffleing. I want that postwoman job,i mean talk about custy!! job.Loved the castle or mini keep,and the music went with this video so well.yes and the house is what i would want,in a lovely place with no people,the photo montarge was just the iceing on this very lovely cake.you 2 have a lovely weekend and stay safe debs xx.ps and i always love that map thingy you do.

@@o.bsoutdoors3871 Ditto,i have been trying to buy another motorhome,but the prices are so silly now,because of covid,i refuse to pay 10k more,so waiting for them to drop,as i want tour wales and scotland again,i camped at lock ness ,then did some skiing at fort william,but i love scotland so and its lovely people,so cannot wait to go there again,next year,but your lovely video ,cheered me up no end,and the boys one,i told everybody im in part 3 lol.@ditto on weekend debs xxxx.
Having done the same walk earlier this year it was great to re-trace our steps and see the island through your eyes. We were not allowed to access the castle due to safety concerns. Many castles and historic buildings across the country had restrictions while the structures were being checked. We did however happen along when the small cottage near the castle was offering home made cake and hot tea. That punctuated this beautiful walk perfectly. Thanks for sharing.

We remember the little tea shop, we didn't visit ourselves but we loved the brightly coloured tea pots and cups placed along the trail to tell the walker how far away from tea and cake they were! Loved the ferry over and did not know that or the island was there to be honest. I did a bit of work for the Royal mail and have to say, would have loved a round like that, especially on the ATV! Loved the walk around the Island to Gylen Castle and a walk Mrs Metalman would have really enjoyed too - perfect place for a spot of lunch. A perfect loop trail and one we will be doing if we end up stopping in Oban again, cheers Alan
Hi Alan👋 you and Mrs metalman would absolutely love Kerrera, the walk was so scenic and its such a pretty place, hope you get to visit when you go back to oban. You catch the ferry over just up the road from oban, it would only be a 5 minute drive away. There's also a short one hour boat trip that leaves from oban (funnily enough named Alan's boat tours😊) that takes you over to see the seal colony at Kerrera, we really wanted to do that but the weather was too bad on the day we were in Oban. What an island you have visited - this is a landscape where myths and stories are made. I loved your tour of the castle and I was surprised to see how small it is on the inside. I can imagine how it must been there in the middle age for those who lived there in the dark winter! So great trip you have been on and a good commercial for the West Highlands:)

This is the smallest castle we have visited, usually they are much larger in Scotland, but it's small size gave it a unique quality. We have a series on our channel about abandoned castles and this would be a great first castle for us to visit when we finally get to the UK. You are right, they knew where to put their castles! Hey Chris! We did have the best time away in Scotland, we always do, hard not to enjoy yourself in such stunning surroundings🥰. We were so happy to discover Kerrera, didn't even know it was there until we were up there and for one reason or another we weren't able to hire bikes as planned so we were searching for an alternative days walk and came across this beautiful little island! ❤. Haha we knew you would be looking for camping pitches!😁⛺. We were saying the same while we were there actually, we had just done our camp on lismore and were saying it would be awesome to camp on Kerrera, imagine the sunset looking over at the castle!😱🌅. So not too sure on whether it is OK to wild Camp there, we actually walked through a very basic campsite on the island. But most places have the right to roam so we don't see why you couldn't find your own pitch. We certainly had no problems on lismore. We would love to see a video of you wild camping on Kerrera😁👍. It's really kind of you to share our channel with your workmate, we really appreciate it😊🙏. I hope he enjoys the videos. I know its a lot more relaxed with wildcamping in Scotland so presume you would be OK too. Especially if there is a campsite on the island and the ferry people might think you're just going there anyway lol. I definitely plan and hope to get some Scotland wildcamps in next year for sure! You know what we thought the same thing about the castle, it was teeny tiny! It must have been very cramped in there when all the men were trapped for weeks and weeks when the castle was under seige😳😳 reckon it got pretty smelly!🙈. Sadly no snow on the day we visited, wow the castle would look magical in the snow though🥰. Maybe we can save that until our next visit to Kerrera Island. The place had a really lovely peaceful vibe to it. We could have sat all day on the grass looking over at the castle and the sea beyond it. Great memories of a lovely day. You know what we thought the same thing about the castle, it was teeny tiny! It must have been very cramped in there when all the men were trapped for weeks and weeks when the castle was under seige😳😳 reckon it got pretty smelly!🙈. Perfect location though, we would take it over our 2 up 2 down any day!🤣 thanks for watching and commenting Gez, we really appreciate it😊👍

Sadly no snow on the day we visited, wow the castle would look magical in the snow though🥰. Maybe we can save that until our next visit to Kerrera Island. The place had a really lovely peaceful vibe to it. We could have sat all day on the grass looking over at the castle and the sea beyond it. Great memories of a lovely day.
