The competition is higher now because there are more than top four teams in the league. We talk about top 6, top 8 now. And atimes it's difficult to predict games these days. It's not weaker now, the competition is still there. Just that this is Man city's era. It will come and pass and another club will definitely start dominating.

The manu guy had some good points, but then again the same argument can be made for the era past. Quality of players now has dropped drastically compared to the late 90s and 2000s, there's no question here.
Compare the quality of strikers now and then, defenders now and then... even midfielders, the VAR situation etc. A city or liverpool or arsenal capable of winning all their matches means there's a debatable gap btw this gen and last gen, in line with the quality consistent in each of these eras!

The quality of the opposition has dropped.. I agree Pep is miles ahead, but the likes of man utd, Arsenal(before the last 3yrs), Chelsea, and co have dropped quality due to a lot of things and I hing it on players commitment and football administration.
We have players and club owners who are money minded than their heart on football.
I watched games between United and Arsenal, and you'd see Roy Keane and Patrick Viera, you'd see the vigour, passion and all, now someone is comfortable with being on the bench and earning 100k pounds per week..
And on the matter of top players coming to average premiership clubs is just down to money.. Sheffield pays more than Getafe, Villarreal, Bilbao, Valencia, etc..
Also, a Luton can give United a fight because they're more hungry.. the supposed top sides have depreciated so bad and it's down to players commitment encouraged by exorbitant signing fee and salaries.. The quality in passion was more then, Pep is doing way better because He's good and importantly will NEVER let any player who's not hungry to stay in his team.

Factor in Relegation battles, A certain Westham got 40 points then and where relegated, imagine teams at the end of the season now having just 16 points. The quality of the Top Teams have increased further with Top managers buying better players, other teams cant match up with it.
It's not like other teams are getting better, it's that Man City can afford to lose games and know it won't really affect them later. Where is the Leicester that won or the Spurs that came close? Or even the Brighton that were so "smart"? Man City is just a completely different institution than the rest of the league. It is not even close. Just because the smartest kid in the class goes clubbing and forgets to do homework does not make other students better in class.

The EPL is stronger now than before but has weaker defense because everyteam want to play like mancity even when they dont have the right players to suit it. Earlier, arsenal were d only team playing that way but they were a selling club too so they couldn't achieve much with d system. 1) there's actually only a top 2 in truth. City and Liverpool. Over the last 10 years, Liverpool and city are the only 2 teams that have truly dominated and are very capable of winning all their 38 fixtures in a good season. Arsenal just stepping up now.
