Taking the groove carved by New Order, early Cure, OMD, Urban Verbs, DM, and Echo and the Bunnymen, and filling it with amazing ideas and sounds. 'Cause I've been waiting such a long long time!' ;)
Agreed! This band sounds like an incredible mix of what the best of 80's New Wave had to offer and it sounds so familiar too. I also heard some A-ha in the vocals.
@@santafoodrock I hear all of those bands, but honestly the first band I thought of hearing them for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago is Arcade Fire. :) so good.
This is, without a doubt, a stellar debut. This album hits all of the right strides. The influences from New Order, The Cure, Joy Division, etc. is apparent and happily welcomed. It's the perfect driving companion as well. I am in love with this song in particular because of how accessible it sounds, yet the lyrical story it puts together is compelling enough to warrant multiple listens. Hell, my Spotify auto-playlists currently have at least one of their songs peppered within them.

Great song & album! Beautiful work! And, the video builds a lot of suspense... will someone open a window? Will a new cloud appear? None of those things happen. A simple message - cancel rent
Is it just me or does the lead singer have a similar sound as Ian Curtis from the Joy Division? Awesome song anyway. Very cool and different groove!!!!!
Love the song. Love the whole album. My fave track by them didn’t even make the album cut(What does the normal man feel)which means they got a worthy stockpile of songs.
Absolutely. What Does the Normal Man Feel is a terrific track. The new stuff is sounding good too, will be interesting to see where they go on album two
It's the early 80s When Tears for Fears Soft Cell n Depeche mode along with the Cure were a massive influence on me ...Love bands now that are clearly influenced by that era like Future Islands and White Lies n of course these guys xx
@The Flaneur thanks for your narrow minded, capitalistic and outright dumb way of looking at the world. "Cancel Rent" obviously implies the system you're describing needs to go first.
Love like hell this song, and I am pretty obsessed with Nation of Language since I discovered them some days ago, great emergent band, wonderful synthpop sound. But, it is not a bit unnecessarily long song? I feel it could be a bit shorter, cause it does not progress that much during the 5mins. Yeah I agree, 5 delicious minutes but...
This is my favorite song by them. 3 great albums. One of my new favorite bands. I would like to think my future wife loves this song as much as I do.

I'm an 80's clubber and I approve this message.
The bass = Simon Gallup, the voice = New Order, the droning tones = LCD Soundsystem (All My Friends). Just absolutely brilliant
It's like having 2 bassists. Simon Gallup and. Peter Hook.
Definitely some Hooky vibes too.
#SimonGallup #BadWolf OMG spot on amazing!!! @thecure
Absolutely have to throw in The National in audible influences here - particularly in vocal timing and spacing. Great stuff.
Call me crazee, but I think the singer has a great Morrisey sound going.

@@melm9646 yes!
I'd say more Blancmange - the vocalist sounds just like Neil Arthur - I love this :)
And Krautrock vibe
@@santafoodrock I hear all of those bands, but honestly the first band I thought of hearing them for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago is Arcade Fire. :) so good.
I’m addicted to their 80s sound: synth and guitar music. Absolutely brilliant
This is where Joy Division's music would have evolved to.
I agree
I don't care that this is perfect Joy Division honoring. I need new Joy Division in my life right now.
We all do my friend. R.I .P. Ian Curtas. He was a wonderful bright soul that will never dim.
One of the best songs I’ve ever heard! It’s impossible no to fall in love with this song!! 💯
This song is absolutely brilliant. Awesome atmosphere of melancholy and hope at the same time.
I always think this song feels like the morning after a great loss and the sun still comes up and you keep going.
Yes sir. One of the greatest song of our generation (a generation of great losses) in my humble opinion.
This song reminds me of a place I ve never been
I don’t know how to describe it better
Love, love will tear us apart...again... Do you hear it? I do. I love it.
@coloradojoe6274 I certainly hear New Order! 💃
Diiv, white lies, the Editors all combined together! 😍
What a debut Introduction, Presence is! An album of the year contender for sure.
It’s the album I listen to! On the way to work and home, I get 2 rotations out of the album each day!
One of the best albums of the year

Thanks. Awesome lyrics, so pretty.
So good! Kind of reminds me of The War on Drugs 👍
This song makes me feel so nostalgic in a good way
Luckily, there is yet a deep sense of community between listeners of some genres of music (like this).
Absolutely have to throw in The National as directly audible influences here - particularly in vocal timing and spacing. Great stuff! I’m sold. 👏
Just found this tune! Best 80's band of the 2021 period! #WLIR Long Island
joy division/love will tear us apart brought me here

I was waiting for something to happen too 🤣. Definitely not Duran Duran videos but the Music makes up for it. So incredible!!!!

Just great. I love NO/JD Flock of Seagulls, Icicle Works - this has it all and more, and still a unique sound. Love it
I'm obsessed
Is it just me or does the lead singer have a similar sound as Ian Curtis from the Joy Division? Awesome song anyway. Very cool and different groove!!!!!

Daewon Song
In effetti, con questa canzone, ti materializzi proprio... Mi sembra di ballare con te... Mi sembra di starti seduto affianco!
He said he was influenced by hearing an OMD song...he'd never heard of them before.

...One day later, I answer to myself. Shut up, like this, it is perfect, you may be missing a higher moment at the end, but this is not techno music
