If I'm not mistaken, Muslims, Christians, and Jews believe in one God, the creator of this entire universe. I know that some may think it's not the same God, but I think it is. If you believe in one creator for this universe, then it's the same God, whether its name is God or Allah. So this is a good start for the followers of the three religions to accept each other and have a nice conversation.

Hi Guy, we "Muslims, Christians, Jews" believe in ONE GOD, The Arabic name of GOD is ALLAH. The only difference between Christians and Muslim, Muslims consider Jesus as a prophet "man of God" on the other hand Christians consider Jesus as a son of God and somehow God himself.

Before we were introduced, my wife and I thought of our parents, our siblings and ourselves as protestant. Our wedding was in Iowa in 1977 and our children were born in Iowa. In 1982, we moved to a part of the world where the majority of the people did not consider themselves protestant.
Sally didn’t speak with people as often as I did about our religious beliefs but both of us learned a great deal about speaking with people who were accustomed to using English words to mean things that were very different from how protestants in the Midwest (U.S.) used those same English words.
I’m aware that most dictionaries equate the word, “religion”, with “theism” but I’ve read enough English-language literature to be satisfied that there was a time when English-speaking people who could read and write understood the word, “religion”, to mean the sum of those beliefs, practices and prohibitions that pertain to a person’s concept of the highest powers of the universe.
In the place where Sally and I sojourned for 25 years, I sometimes asked people to define the word, “religion”. The typical response began with the words, “A religion is an organization that.......” The concept of personal religion was totally foreign to most of the people who lived there.
When Sally and I were children, a person who used the word, “God”, in the Midwest was understood to mean the God of the Bible.
In the place where Sally and I lived for 25 years, the majority of the people were followers of a religious leader who ridiculed the Bible and anyone who believed it.
When Sally’s parents or mine spoke of, “the creator”, they meant the first cause of the universe and life in the universe.
In the place where Sally and I lived for 25 years, most of the people had been taught that there is a god who is “creative” but only in the sense that an artist or a builder is creative.
Sally and I were taught that Eve’s mistake in the garden was to covet for herself prerogatives that belong to the creator alone.
In the place where Sally and I lived for 25 years, most of the people had been taught to covet worship for themselves.
I have also had opportunity to speak with Buddhists and Muslims. After several conversations with one Muslim, she said to me, “It is always such a joy to speak with you about religion!” She went to work for a different employer soon after that so I didn’t have opportunity to continue those conversations but my point here is that it IS possible to talk about religious beliefs and religious practices without being disagreeable.
Most people are content to subscribe to the religious beliefs and religious practices of their parents. Some people find that there are one or more things about their parents’ religious beliefs they eventually find objectionable and, when they do, they either adopt a “prepackaged” alternative or they reject theism outright.
If you like the broad definition of “religion” mentioned above and would like encouragement in building your own personal religion (instead of subscribing to an institutional religion) please don’t hesitate to email me at r.metzger44@gmail.com Sally and I currently reside in Maine, U.S.A.

God's name is Jehovah in the English language - Isaiah 42:8 and Psalms 83:18. True Christians follow the life course of his son Jesus Christ and are obedient to his commands and teachings.

If your goal is to teach people how to converse about religion in English without arguing and without showing disrespect, why would you show disrespect for someone’s sports team?
A few more suggestions, if I may:
I’m a person who likes to talk learn about other people’s beliefs and I like to let people know what I believe and why. It seems to me that the first step in that direction should be to ascertain whether someone has an interest in such things. One way to discover what a person’s level of interest is is to first talk about other things--the physical universe, for example or history. I can even ask people questions about other subjects than religious beliefs to determine whether they are interested in having a conversation. If I pay attention, not only to the person’s answer but his tone of voice and his body language, I can proceed only as far as he is comfortable. I can do that for the purpose of trying to learn from him AND introduce ideas with which he may not be familiar.
Some people think they are obligated to state their opposition whenever someone makes a statement with with they disagree.
That might be a way to avoid giving tacit approval to ideas with which you disagree but it almost always prevents further dialogue.
There are many questions that can be employed to move a conversation along without creating opposition--questions that begin with such phrases as “Are you acquainted with.....?” or “What is your understanding of.....?
I lived for 25 years in a culture where many of the people had a very different perspective on the supernatural than what I do. I couldn’t even use the word, “God”, without being misunderstood. I’m a fiat creationist so I learned to substitute the word, “creator”.
To me, religion is the sum of those beliefs, practices and prohibitions that pertain to a person’s concept of the highest powers of the universe. A person’s religion can be personal or it can be institutional.
In the aforementioned culture, however, the idea of a personal religion is completely foreign. So I had to be careful to define the word, “religion”, before I could even use in in conversation.
I think it is a worthwhile goal to learn to show a proper level of respect for people of varying religious perspectives AND to learn how to converse on the subject without arguing about it. I invite you to continue the conversation IF you think we can learn from each other.

People are usually super offensive when It comes something about religion. I think that many of them doesn't know in what they believe exactly. Especially muslims. Don't be that strict. If you have doubts about how world see you, maybe It's time to requestion personal faith.
P.s. James, you are the best teacher in my entire life! Thank God you are somewhere out there. God bless you !

What do you think we should learn from James or not what is your opinion I mean those persons who are against Islam and hate the Islam we can learn something from them or not I explain it because social media and news channel show Islam a different perspective which is not right but peoples see and believe news and after this theire mental picture their mindset become against Islam this is the real problem so what do you think because if we learn something from someone how can we know that this person is right or not so in this situation we can learn from them
