We make it all the time. The Indian way of making it is ... skip the boiling part. Prepare the batter, dip the cauliflower florets. Deep fry on medium heat till half done. Take them out, let them sit for a while(the steam inside will cook the cauliflower). Now before going for final run, give each floret a gentle crush so that the coating cracks and deep fry it on high heat this time. Cracking will let excess steam and water to flow out and you will have even crispier "pakoda's" as we call them. Enjoy with your favorite dip or sauce!

Back from the end of the 1970's, thru the early 1980's, many of my Dad's family, in Pennsylvania, got into Battering & Deep Frying, both Cauliflower & Broccoli Spears; and making a Velveeta Sauce to dip it in. We all LOVED it!!
I never knew exactly why, but after just a few, short years, both my Grandmother & my Aunt, quickly got rid of their Deep Fryers, and never made either of those dishes anymore.
I've sure missed both of these dishes, and after seeing this video, I've began CRAVING them, lately! LOL!!! 😊
I could make them for myself, but I have no idea just what their recipes were, for either the Batter, OR the Velveeta Sauce! Ugh!! Although the recipe for the Velveeta Sauce should be fairly easy to figure out. 🙂
Thanks for posting this, & as the late Bob Hope used to say, (and sing), Thanks For The Memories!! 😊

      WOW!!
      You are QUITE WELCOME!! 🙂
I hadn't the slightest idea that my reply would touch some of you, in the positive way that it did, but I am sure VERY THANKFUL that it has!!
Those memories I wrote about, are among some of my most fond ones, and of precious times that I wish I could go back and visit, just one more time!!
My Aunt still lives there, in Pa. & Lord willing, she will turn 74 on Dec. 15th. Last I heard, she's still in great health, & I am SO thankful for that!
My Grandma, whom I also mentioned in my original reply, left us on Sat. Jan. 7, 1989, after a 3rd bought with cancer, at age 76.
She, and a few others from our family circle, who have since left us, are the main reasons why the memories I shared, are now SO dear to my heart.
On one last note, I now recall why both my Aunt and my Grandma, got rid of their deep fryers, (which were both Presto Grandpappy's).
It was because they'd heard reports of at least 2 people in their area, who were cooking with those same model "fryers" and had their houses burn down!
I think they both assumed that those people's fryers had malfunctioned, & caused those tragedies.
But knowing what I know now, I'm pretty sure that each of those folks likely had their fryers going, & unfortunately; walked away from them, for way too long!!
We all know of course; that one should never, EVER, walk away from an active, Deep Fryer!
Thanks Again, for letting me know how my commentary touched some of your hearts!! It makes me feel very proud to know that it did!!
Love & Blessings To You All!
      Ron

You are very welcome! I'm glad I was able to give you the reminder!! 🙂
I sure wish I had a Deep Fryer these days, & the proper cooking set-up to even try my hand at that making some of that Velveeta Cheese Sauce!!
Unfortunately, my Fiancee' & I, have had to live in a Motel, since April 1, 2020.
We first came to Texas on August 4th, 2019, at the urging of my future Step-Son, who was then living with a friend of his, in a nice Ranch-Style, house here.
Unfortunately, he rather fibbed to his Mom & I, about his living situation here, (I guess because he really missed his Mom, & wanted her to come & live near him), and thus, a few hrs. after we arrived here, we found out that we could only stay with him for 3 days, & then we had to find somewhere else to go!
After those 3 days, we moved in where my future Step-Daughter was living, (which was with an old acquaintance of she & her Mom), & within pretty short order, we come to realize that-that household contained nothing but a VERY BAD living situation, & that my future Step-Daughter, & her hubby, had already been put thru h-** by the gal whose home it was, & whom they thought was their friend!!!
Anyway, due to this gal, we were thrown out, at the end of March 2020, after her bilking us out of $2,300.00 a few months before, & then, trying to hatch a plan to bully, & bilk US, (as well as another couple who were staying there), out of each of our 1st Stimulus Money!
We all stood up to her, & let her know that she wasn't gonna get another dime out of any of us, & then we all moved out!! Which literally ticked her off!! 🙂
Anyway, we're not really supposed to use anything but the Microwave to cook in our room, (though we do cook some with an Electric Roaster), and have had both a used Hot Plate, and also a Sandwich Press in the past, both of which, we've since had to throw away; as they each began going bad on us.
My future Son-In-Law says he plans to buy an Electric Griddle, & my Fiancee' & I, plan to buy another Hot Plate, and a Crock Pot, as well.
It's either we bend the rules a bit until we can finally move out of here, or we won't keep properly fed, & nourished! Sheesh!
Problem is, it's been hard to save up enough money, so that we can buy those extra appliances! But Lord willing, we'll be able to come up with funds to get them sometime soon.
Sorry for all my ramblings, but I don't have many folks, outside of my family here, to sort of "vent" to, and at times, (like now), I tend to wanna talk, (or type), a bit much!! LOL!!
      Well, better go for now!
      Take Care, & God Bless!
      Ron

You don’t need to boil it first, it becomes soft when you fry without boiling it that way you won’t loose the nutrients

You can steam it if you don’t want to loose nutrients. If you boil or steam it first, that will help to reduce your frying time.

@@delishwithtrina5385 that’s true too but I make similar recipe frequently and no need to steam it because it only takes a minute to fry it and still get crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. Not to brag but this is one of my signature dishes.

I made this as an appetizer for our BBQ tonight. I followed the recipe to the letter. These were absolutely delicious. We served them with ranch dressing to dip the florets in.
The teaspoon of salt shown in the video is not listed in the recipe batter ingredients. Luckily I caught that.
I added the cauliflower pieces to the water once it boiled and only cooked for 7 minutes as I0 to 15 minutes boiling would produce cauliflower too soft for my liking. I left it to cool completely and moisture to evaporate.
The batter was crispy and coated cauliflower completely ensuring no oil was hiding inside the florets. I cooked them in a couple inches of oil, deep frying to avoid having to flip florets as they fried.
I will definitely make this again adding zucchini slices, fresh green beans and onion rings too for variety.
