It becomes easier and easier every time you try it, having a kink at every turning point makes snapping the wire with ease, since bending wire creates heat allowing you to snap the wire, rotating it towards the post.
The method is much more safer, because it leaves a smooth edge. When using wire cutters/pliers to cut it, leaves a sharp edge

what gauge wire is that in the video? im using 12.5 gauge and its very difficult to get the tight windings.

Is it detrimental when tying a termination not to go over under over ?
Yes! When tightened, the knot will slide funny, then collapse. This type of knot balances out the stress points, allowing it to take a higher strain without breaking.

Go through the bullnose insulator twice, makes for a stronger knot that won't pull undone
My first try at the 6 turns, the wire snapped off on third turn. I must not have quality wire.

Hugh is a pro when it comes to fencing.
Once you do it a few times it gets easier
remembering how to do it is the hardest part, the rest is just bending wire and keeping it tidy. doesn't take long to get this good :)

Very easy to remember if you happen to be wearing a Mexican hat. Of course, here in New Mexico, we just call it a hat.

why wont you use the termination knot on both sides
Don't need it. You can use it but the six wraps are faster. The termination knot is only needed around fixed points that can't rotate, like posts. The over under first part of the knot balances the unraveling forces so it won't unwind when you put tension on it.
I do it that way but I like to leave the ends on in case I need them sometime. Not as tidy but handy at times 👍
I think the bar more long is better, perhaps 20cm

These guys have hands like steel. I did one the other day had blood running off my hands everywhere. But i will keep trying.
Takes awhile to develop calluses. Start with leather gloves, then cut the fingers off the gloves. Then go to thin fingerless gloves. Or just bleed for a couple weeks until the calluses make themselves.
Is it strong enough to hang the laundry on the wire ?
im probably too late but this knot tied in this wire will easily hold hundreds of kgs so yes, but i would recommend 3.15mm or 4/4.5mm high tensile wire (mild steel will just stretch and sag) as the 2,5mm HT will sag and stretch with time in your use case. id also recommend sleeving it in something like polyurethane pipe as the galv/aluminium coatings will rub off on the clothing

Just use a wireline twist, less breakage from the kinking of the wire, I can see many weak points in your method. Trust me it works far better, you don’t see down hole failures.
this is an old comment but to any seeing this ignore the above comment, what hes talking about wont even hold 10% (terminationknot is 80%+) of the strength of the wire let alone the 100/150kgf the wires need to be strained to or a half tone bull hitting the wire.
how Hugh demonstrates to terminate wire in this video is the industry standard and the only strong and practical method of terminating wire, with the exception of bridling wires over a stay but thats another conversation and uses a form of figure 8 knot.

i am curious though, i interpreted your comment to mean the old lazy looped wire twisted around itself, which has no hold and will just unravel, in terms of the kinking issue there a important points of detail and finesse like how tight to bend the wire and the fact of how no single point of the knot holds the entire strain
