    Thanks for the great vid! Yours was one of the most helpful in helping me change out a breaker-just today-after researching the daylights out of the subject. Another vid was super helpful too, because that one used the EXACT type of breaker as mine. Thanks so much! Know that you're enhancing the quality of life of DIYers out here. And maybe SAVING that life with your safety tips too. Take care & stay healthy!

    Great stuff, thanks. I might add (if no one else has), use Rubber Soled shoes, use plywood or wood beneath your feet as extra precaution especially if your floor is damp such as in a garage... Rubber gripped tools when possible. Don't over tighten any screw heads and be .."just like a Boss" lol

    Thanks for the video! It is a huge help. I love that you put safety first. I do have a question. If you are changing the breaker from a 40 to a 50 do you have to change out any of the wires or is it the same process?

    • @kevinneal2575
      @kevinneal2575 Před 2 lety

      I’m NOT an electrician but I think that you have to be careful if you put a higher load circuit breaker in. The wires leading to your outlets could overheat if the wire gauge is not thick enough. For example Space heaters can trip the breaker, but if you up the amp on the breaker wires might overheat and not trip the breaker.

    We had our power shut off temporarily last week, and this week I've noticed a really annoying electrical buzz/hum going through the walls. I'm curious as to if something got messed up around that time. I also hit the test button for my bedroom breaker and it killed the power in that room and seems to not be coming back on. My main concern is fixing that annoying buzz; it makes it hard to relax and sleep.

    Question.
    Ive Lived in this house for 2 years now and the breakers had never tripped till about 4 days ago . If the ac is on for more than 25 minutes the braker trips and it feels hot. I've ran ac and heat for days at a time and never did this . Can it be just the breaker that's gone bad and overheating? Thanks

    • @StatUpBox
      @StatUpBox  Před 6 lety

      a breaker is not suppose to overheat, it can be the breaker. but it is always best to contact a pro to have a check.

    • @StatUpBox

      in some cases main breaker can be found out side or in another location or even sometimes next to the breaker box in another box.

    Can I replace a 20amp breaker with a 30 amp?

    • @tbob2224
      @tbob2224 Před 4 lety

      Only if your wire is sized correctly.
      For example: 120v with a 20amp breaker you need a minimum 12 gauge wire at any point in the circuit, for 30 amp you'd need 10 gauge minimum.
      The idea is that the breaker should be the weakest link in the circuit to prevent the wires from overheating (and damaging electronics or causing a fire).
      For example: 20 amp breaker with 14 gauge wire at any point in the circuit is a fire hazard.

  • @jilla4334
    @jilla4334 Před 2 lety

    You don't mention that the wire needs to go between the 2 "plates" not against the screw - against the screw is a no-no
