If someone wants to do a stick and poke themselves they’re gonna do it regardless. At least there’s a resource out there that tries to help those who are gonna tattoo themselves be safer about it.

Hi. Im a tattoo artist in San Diego and you know how You Tube is... They show u what they think you'll be interested in. So I watched your stick and poke tattoo vids and it just reminded me so much of when I first started tattooing (I was 13) just wanted to say that if its something you're still interested in GO FOR IT. And let no one elses opinions get in your way. Tattooing has givin me a joy and fulfillment in life that I wouldnt have found anywhere else. Granted its taken time determination and quite a few set backs to get to where I am today... I wouldn't have it any other way. If it was just a little cool thing to do, I get that too it's not for everyone. Just had to reach out and say... You go girl! And God bless.

May I ask if you taught yourself or did you took an apprenticeship? I would love to make tattoos , but I cant commit 110% of my time because of university. And I dont know how 'good' it is to be self taught in such a delicate area like Tattooing people
Please do not do this to yourself I did around 13 there all covered up now, If you can afford 20 dollars worth of Walmart supplies save 20 more.. There are apprentices out there that want and strive to make there’ selves better. Sign a waver and show up early start of the week you could get lucky and get a safe and not regretting experience Free!

I think people just believe it's super dangerous and you're going to lose a limb if you're not careful... true, but if we take the same precautions as an artist in a shop, you have a pretty good chance of it being totally safe and having a pretty cool unique memory 😊

I've gotten a lot of professional tattoos but recently have been wanting to do stick and pokes on myself. I'm 25 btw, not too young so I probably wont regret it THAT much in the future :^) anyway I'm glad I found this video.
I always was super nervous around the idea of stick and poke but having a person that seems so kind patiently explain the steps in detail took a lot of my fear.

I've been doing stick and poke tattoos for 4 years and I am only now realizing that I tend to poke too deep. The tattoos still turned out quite well, and if not, I go over them a while later, but I think it took more rounds than would have been necessary. But I also think different people and different skin areas absorb the ink differently. I have one on my foot that I've gone over 4 times and it's still really patchy, but others worked fine. I did one on my best friends arm and it took like 2,5 rounds and we were done. Most opaque shit I've ever seen. 😄

❤️ ❤️ ❤️ this video! I have lots of tattoos, literally from ear to toe 😂 and several of them are stick and pokes I did myself. I started when I was young and dumb with India ink from art class and a sewing needle attached to the end of a pencil with thread to soak up the ink. I’m 30 now and use actual tattooing ink and needles and each one is better than the last and I love them so much.. even more than the ones I’ve paid 100s of $$ for. Little stick and pokes are so much fun but for any “youngin” watching this please wait until you’re old enough to make good decisions about what you want, where you want it, and have the proper knowledge of cleanliness bc the last thing you want is a blood infection or something even worse!

I’ve been working on three different stick poke tattoos now for over a month, and I keep hitting dead ends where the ink isn’t sticking particularly well, or parts looked blotchy, or it just gets too painful after a while. And it turns out I really needed this video, because I’ve been making a lot of rookie mistakes. (Predominately going just a llliiittttttllleee too deep with the needle and not quite wiping it properly, it seems.) Thanks for this! Next time I do a touch up, I’ll modify my technique using pointers I got from this video. 😁😁😁

I plan on learning how to tattoo as a hobby or may be job in the future, my younger step sister is going through a rebellious phase and I just want her to do stick and pokes safely. She had one but it was very unclean and almost got infected so I’m trying to help make sure she doesn’t cause a huge infection.

hey there! so i'm thinking of snping myself but the thing is, i actually _like_ when a tattoo gets raised. i have a professionally done one on my arm that didn't heal up perfectly and got a little bit scarred and i love the feeling and sometimes i stim with it. is there a safe way to deliberately make a tattoo scar without impacting the appearance/ink spread?

Yeah, same. The sewing needles work fine, and get better with practice, but my friend showed me hers (which were done with actual needles) and they look a lot cleaner.

I try to wipe away the ink when it starts to cover the stencil but it just smudges a lot. I've been using disinfectant wipes because I react badly to witch hazel. What am I doing wrong?:(
I doubt you still need this but if you didnt do it before, remember when wiping to wipe hardest the first time because the first one is where most ink comes
what’s the difference in angles/how you hold the needle? i see people saying its best to always work from directly above and go straight down but others say it’s best to angle the needle? is it just a personal preference or is there a difference between keeping the needle straight and angling it?
I think it may have to do with different areas on your body, like tougher skin may be easier at an angle, at least that's what I found when I do mine

Clean with soap and water then sterilize with isopropyl alcohol.

the pain is like a 1 or 2/10 for me... it's just a thin needle going into the first layer of skin.. but i'm 14 next month and already have 6 tattoo's so i'm not very sensitive to it anymore lol it's about half or less of what a beesting is
