TwinBee is a vertically scrolling shooter released by Konami as an arcade video game in 1985 in Japan. Along with Sega's Fantasy Zone, released a year later, TwinBee is credited as an early archetype of the "cute 'em up" type in its genre.
This is the very first game in the series. You fight against five bosses and the level pattern repeats itself after completing level 6. This version is much nicer than the home ports IMO.

The beginning of a great sister series to Gradius, sadly ended at it's peak, before one last RPG game, then nothing more. The series has a ton of Drama CD's, but those were released after the series staple characters, Pastel and Light, as well as the rest of the cast, were established.

This is the Twinbee ROM converted version (twinbee). Twinbee and Gradius original Bubble System version have been found (twinbeeb and gradiusb). To make it work, you need the Bubble System BIOS (bubsys). In the original version the countdown is slower and you can hear the full Morning music.
