    To anyone reading this in 2022, 6ft ended up being WAY too short for me for each strand. Use longer ones for this project. Also, it would be a good idea to cut two of those strands at least 4-5in shorter, because they'll be dropped pretty early in the build, and that'll save you guys some cord.

    Love the video. Very informative. Music is good to. I do have a question, though, to time frame 11:30 min. You mention that when we reach the 15” mark then we should drop a couple of strands. And on the video you have them placed next to the core. Unfortunately, after I fill up part of 17” core it shrinks down to 14”. Is the 15” mark before or after the BBs are loaded?

    • @thunderclapwhips
      @thunderclapwhips  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks I’m glad you liked it. Paracord always shrinks a bit when filled with bbs. How much can depend on the brand of paracord. I would try cutting a slightly longer core strand of paracord to get the extra needed length.

    Hey Garret :) Great tutorial......Listen, hopefully not a stupid question:
    'Shot-loaded' I'm guessing originally that was shotgun shot?
    BBs are steel, magnetic ( for whatever that's worth), and much lighter than lead shot.
    I get the convenience of using BBs......do you think lead shot is worth the extra effort, or is
    there no real benefit to using lead shot?
    Going to be taking orders anytime soon? We're waiting......

    • @eternalfire9009
      @eternalfire9009 Před 5 lety +1

      Lead shot has a tendancy to have sharp points and edges that can fray the fibers over time, as well as have the nasty habit of creating microdust that can work it's way out of the whip. Overall, there is little difference in weight between lead and steel in the amounts used in the in the "shot bag" of any but the longest whips.

    Dude, I used ball chain instead of bbs and it was so hard to get the chain in to the core.

      Tie the ball chain to the inner cores then pull the chain through as you pull the core out :)

      You need to figure it out quick before you find a women and not have to fiddle around looking for it

      Same, however I’m trying to make an 8 foot whip, and feeding the chain through took over two hours!

    When I add the bb's the paracord shrinks. Does anyone else have the same issue as this?

      Add 3 inches to the length. The bb's shrink every foot by 3 inches

    Is there an alternative to the leather in the knot

      Biothane, i use this for my paracord dog collars, it's a good leather substitute - doesn't rot etc.
