I don't think it was a bit. He had no punchline there, it looks like he just got worked up, the other person in conversation broke the tension and he laughed and made a dismissive joke.
You are wrong, how did you come upon this video if you are clearly not a fan of Marc Maron? Because if you were, you would understand he uses hyperbolic anger and commitment to a bit to convey his humor. Its clearly what he's doing there shown by the line "he's a pathological narcissistic freak, or am I reading into it?" Sure he has a distain for his father but is using that to be funny as a bit, not actually getting emotional. The "Yes" is funny to me because its just in response to Paul asking a very basic question so he gives a one word answer. Garry gets annoyed too when Paul is asking leading and surface level questions, where is the comment about his emotional outburst?
idk man, I understand paradoxical humor but it just seems like there were points in this video where it was just genuine emotion and statements, no punchlines.
Well thats the thing, you aren't stating an opinion. You commented on my own enjoyment of this video and felt the need to contradict my opinion of it. You were the one that got triggered, I'm the one defending my opinion. Aside from that I do make a living doing stand up, I see comedy and am around comedians every night. As much as I would love for you to define paradoxical without googling it, I don't think we could prove that. I'm not saying there isn't genuine, truthful things talked about here but to tell me that Marc is having a emotional break on this episode is not giving his sardonic humor justice.
I'm sure Paul Provenza is a nice guy, and I hate to talk shit, but he's so much less funnier than his guests yet seems like he thinks he's right there. Every episode I watch I kinda wish he wasn't there. Sorry Paul.
I love Maron, but think he got little self conscious in this one. Gary Shandling staring at him, like a dead eyed shark, didn't help:(
I agree but I think Maron was actually seeing an image of his father instead of Gary Shandling at that moment
The commitment Marc has to a bit is amazing. When he fires back with the "Yes!" you can just see him locked in and fighting back laughter.

also how fuckin up your own ass do have to be to start a comment with "you are wrong" when I stated an opinion

your father goes in to give u a hug and in your ear say i dont wanna live anymore" lol
don't know why this came up under indie music on my homepage, but i'm glad to watch this again haha
Loved this whole thing. Direct, burdened, angry, forgiving. Stand ups comics, man. Sometimes they're so fucking zen.
I'm a simple man; I see an ensemble of the world's greatest comedy...
I click.
Garry Shandling ༼ つ ಥ_ಥ ༽つ
he emails me in all caps lol
Gary is looking at Marc like "i know you're not joking right now"
Jesus, Maron looked psychotic in moments.
Fathers can do that to sons sometimes
unfortunately I agree..
Pays good though.
That's his shtick.
That last laugh from Maron is fucking hilarious.
One of the funniest people. Watch his interviews with Conan. They are all golden.
Why is Bo Burnam there?
because he is a comedian
you mean Mark Maron is whining about his father? What a huge surprise!
Bo's laugh is really cute.
It almost seems fake, but also so genuine.
Who are these guys and why aren't they drinking?

Easy, easy. He is here as a host.
@@kinsmed The show could do without a host.
