That's not the issue here. Coates plays alone. Josema Gimenez was given the chance when injured Coates could not play against Colombia and Falcao in the form of his life and Josema completely nulified Falcao and he was 19. So earned a spot on the team but later on he began to impress at Atletico and now shares the back with Godin which happens to be the Captain of Uruguay and a must start for the average Uruguay XI.

Argentina has produced such legendary goalkeepers such as Amadeo Carriso and Ubaldo Filliol and that's just to name 2. In more recent years one can point out to Abondanzzieri and Orion and let's not forget about Goycochea back in the 80s.
I am Peruvian, and even here people remember those names vividly for their talent and accomplishments at the south american level. Even my father remembers how utterly stunned he was at how well Amadeo Carriso would play back in the day.
I am impressed at how Eurocentric and misinformed they can be about the football region that has produced the 2 best footballers of all time as well as multiple teams that have won Intercontinental championships and FIFA Club World Cups.
