One of the major things that always separated the disney parks from non-disney parks was that disney parks had a very high level of polish and attention to detail you couldn't find anywhere else. And while I still think they generally do that better than everybody else, I have noticed that they have been slipping a little bit.

As life-long Disney fan, that finally got to go to Disney for the first time at age 20, and my most recent visit was the first week of March 2024 at age 57, The Magic seems to have left the building over the past few years. Since Michael Eisner left, things have gone downhill. Disney keeps building Hotel Towers instead of themed resorts. If you are going to build hotels, you also have to add Parks. It is ridiculous the amount of time that you have to spend waiting in light even when you purchase lightening lane. You tell them Chris the Girl!!!!

Back in the mid 70’s. I worked at Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio during summers. My housing dorm was in the Breakers. From my rooms window I could hear Jungle Larry’s “zoo”, plus Lake Erie. I could hear lions, tigers, & bears literally every morning at daybreak. Heaven. 🙂 Loved working there between college breaks.

Loved the video, and I appreciate your honesty about the changes in the parks. On our last visit to Disney, I was seriously underwhelmed with changes at Magic Kingdom. Taking out a couple of my and my kids' favs, Mickey and Minnie s little houses, was a huge disappointment to me. Even as an adult, I found those most charming and magical, my kids loved them, and I had hoped the grandkids would love them too.. Like being in a live cartoon.😊 But alas, they were gone when I took the grandkids..
(Also one is very hard pressed to find any Jiminy Cricket anywhere anymore) 😟
I do love Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Taking time to explore and getting away from the madness and overstimulation from the other parks is so refreshing. Taking the train to the Conservation Station was the best! What a cool place that is off the beaten path 😉.. I agree with your sentiments about the changes, not all is necessarily what Walt wanted and envisioned.

I absolutely LOVED this, Cris. Thank you. It's great to get such a deep dive and learn things that I'm guessing was brought up in training, etc. I agree, Animal Kingdom is the BEST park for themeing ❤

Thanks for the detailed look at this nitch of the park. Haven't been to Disney World yet so we appreciate your insight and first hand knowledge. Joe and his team of Imagineers built an amazing park filled with the details that one use to expect from Disney. I love the "Going out of existence sale" sign. Is there a Universal logo on that asteroid? You are spot on the lose of this land. I've never been there and I'm sad as well.

I never worked in WDW or Dino-Land, but I love it as much as you. You are correct in every aspect: dinosaurs are loved by kids, so i.e. they're timeless; the theming of Dino-Land is over-the-top and no park does it better, especially for a gift shop; Walt Disney plussed his theme parks, adding new attractions and RARELY removing them (Viewliner was replaced by the Monorail, in a sense, and the phantom boats never worked properly). It would be easy enough to keep the Dino-Institute and Dinsosaur, and add the new i.p. around it. The boneyard is a great energy release for kids, and how many became interested in science and paleotology by playing here and seeing the "museum"? People do not give Dino-Land near enough credit. Start a petition ChristheGirl, it's never too late, and I'll be the first to sign. Thank you for this and your other great videos; I'm looking forward to more DAK and Dino-Land deep-dives!

I agree with you 100% Cris!
Updating Dinoland would have been much better than that massive failure the Galactic Shitcruser. Avatar is well done but it’s totally out of place in Animal Kingdom and I’d hardly call Avatar a popular IP, James Cameron should have used his money to update Dinoland.
It makes me sick, that is my daughters and my favorite place at Animal Kingdom. Dinosaurs will always be popular while Indiana Jones and Avatar are long forgotten.
Also, since I started watching you and Jay’s videos I always thought I’d seen you somewhere and I’ll bet it was with my daughters at the Boneyard

I totally agree. 100! I dont have the nostalgia for dino land as you as I grew up on the West Coast. When they tore out Lillys (Walts Wife) Rose Garden next to Sleeping Beauty's castle and the Gazebo where musicians/artists/bands of a National Treasure level all preformed.... to build.... A Bathroom and princess meet and great. I actually cried. Walts dream was to always "plus the show and grow" Not bulldoze. Sad times.

Wow! It's been a long time since I went. One of my old youtube videos was a ride video of the Primevil Whirl. One of the "coster" rides I was ok with. It was around the time the Little Mermaid ride was pretty new.
My friends from up north would do like a week of vacation club and it would be my chance to visit them and have fun.

Hi! New to the channel and I absolutely agree with you on all this. When I first visited animal kingdom when I was maybe 9 or 10, Dinosaur was literally my favorite ride there with Kilimanjaro safaris a close second. I really loved the thrill and fossils and dinosaurs and prehistoric animals have always been a huge fascination to me. As I got older, I learned about the lore and the countdown to extinction ride I loved it even more. I’m really disappointed in how Disney is letting it go just for IP to scoot right on it. Honestly, I love Encanto and Indiana jones but if the Indiana jones ride is gonna be the exact copy of the one in California then I would be upset and if the Encanto land is just gonna be a meet and greet then yeah I would be like they teared Dinoland down for this?? Then I’ll never forgive Disney for that lol I’m really sad to see it go in all honestly 😢 great video nonetheless can’t wait to see more ❤

I completely agree with you cris! I love change in the parks and always say that walt wanted this and that to change but this is something i don’t think walt would have wanted especially with how much he loved dinosaurs and dinosaurs literally fit in with what animal kingdom is! Animals! Past present and future. Disney has been cutting corners and taking forever to build the simplest things while universal even sea world are building rides left and right. They’re panicking about epic universe and think the closure of dinoland will compare with what universal is building and it doesn’t even compare I don’t even think disney themselves know what to do with the area. If they want to compete with universal they should leave dinoland alone put in on the back burner and build a new park, the villains land they’ve brought up in the past or even add to animal kingdom and make the dragons mystical creature area that had been scrapped. (since they’re so IP hungry they could add little nods to onward, pete’s dragon things like that) I think that would be the only way they could compete with what epic universe will be.

Totally agree and although it won't do anything, I complain to guest relations at AK each time I am there. Politely, of course, as it is not the cast members fault, but I want it documented that this is a very bad move. I love Dinoland and hate to see it most likely going. They should just give it the proper budget and attention and make an awesome Dinoland.

I’m really tired of hearing that too “That’s what Walt would have wanted” That’s unfair for Disney to say, and it’s been said by them many of times on Disney+ docs the past several years. It’s definitely a cop out and not fair to people who love their parks. It’s definitely a cop out they are taking DL away. We know they have the land to expand, but again, Disney cuts corners and takes the easy way out. Not only are they taking away our beloved Dinos, They have depleted Disney’s only salute to roadside America and classic Roadside Attractions. That’s what I love most about the theming. It’s Americana. I agree with you that this is the best and only well themed land at WDW. Chester & Hester’s alone being gone breaks my heart. I love Indiana Jones, but I don’t think we need it at AK. I love Dinosaur and will miss it so much. As a Disney Passholder for many years now, I see one consistency the past few years. This is Disney’s discount way of bringing more people to the park as cheaply (retheming areas and attractions) and as relevant (ip’s) as they can. Sucks for nostalgic and faithful park goers who built magical memories with what is about to be changed. So sad, and I’m very sorry. This was a fantastic video! I love
when you said that the message and theming of the park is far more important than the ip’s and the rides. Now, that’s what I believe Walt truly
wanted. I am so sad that DinoLand is going away for many reasons but mostly because I know how much it means to you and how much time and energy you spent there. You made a flawless video! My new favorite! Thank you for firing up the camera and documenting this. It was so much fun reliving your stories about your time there again, and for that, I have really enjoyed being in Dinoland with you so much! every time we have gone it’s been magical ! Can’t wait to get back there with you again soon. We will enjoy it while it lasts :(.. I have to go get that Dino a few more times, and win you a few more too ;) No one could have made this video but you babe! I’m proud of you! Watched it 2x Cris The Dinoland Girl with that heart of Gold!!

Hey there! Derek, Winter Haven,! FL! I absolutely loved Animal Kingdom. I went there on a company trip. It was when it first opened. I have a photo album full of pictures of me there! I have not been there since and it is a shame what has happened I feel really bad for you and for Disney! It kind of pisses me off how things in companies are run nowadays it's not like it was. I actually worked @ Jim Henson's Muppet vision 3D in 1994 for almost a year, it was such a blast, such a great time to be there. Sounds like you had a very cool life keep it up!

I love your videos, but I agree & disagree with different points of this video. My great uncle was an imagineer at Disneyland that was given the opportunity by Walt Disney himself. He said that Walt did want the parks to continually progress but the art of telling the story should always remain. So I’ve grown up knowing that everything in Disney isn’t necessarily permanent. The story evolves. Disneyland has changed a lot since it’s opening. I do understand the emotional connection to Dino Land. I am a former cast member and did my internship at WDW so I get it. I agree that the unique story telling aspect has been getting muted, and that’s definitely a failure with leadership. Being part Latina I am excited for more Encanto representation but I also don’t want them to cut corners and just move Mirabel’s meet & greet to AK. People deserve quality attractions that all ages and abilities can enjoy. While Disney may have slumps I still never count them out.

Yes, Disney has money they need to stop being cheap and go back why it was built for .
