I used to speak one phrase and it later graduated to about five phrases which i prayed for up to 8yrs and i felt someway about it and nearly gave up entirely but i kept seeking and praying for more and i testify to the glory of God that, just three days ago i was speaking my 'few' tongues and before i knew it, i was overflowing with different uttrances i never believed existed. My mouth just kept going with a loud voice for about 1 hour without even feeling tired ...My excitement know no bounds..... Thank you Father, Thank you Jesus, Thank you Holy Spirit🙏🙏🙏🙏

I can relate, i had the same feeling until i had a dream speaking in tongues and the following night during my midnight prayer i prayed in tongues for over an hour, and from then things have never been the same, to God be the glory🎊🎊

The first time I spoke in tongues I actually didn’t remember doing it. Someone had told me or asked what language were you speaking earlier? I was 12. The next time that I would speak in tongues I was in my early thirties; I remember being afraid of what was coming out of my mouth not being able to control it. It didn’t sound like gibberish, but an actual language. Since then I’ve only spoken in tongues five other times. I’m now 50. When it happen for you don’t be afraid and let it happen.
I have found that the Holy Spirit begins to use me to sing in tongues over people when I'm praying for them. I feel the power of God when I do this. Praise Jesus!!!

The "one tongue and different meaning each time". I'll be honest the LORD gave me twice. The first one I doubted and over time I can't remember, I felt bad and prayed again and received different phrases in tongues. I asked why am I repeating the same phrase. What I felt was what b ever The Lord gave you, be faithful and pray it. I thought to myself I'm just repeating the same thing. But what I felt in the spirit was that the meaning for these tongues though it sounded the same was actually different. Even though I might be repeating the same phrases again and again, it is actually coded and the Lord is hearing much different. I'm saying, or rather speaking in many phrases, or paragraphs that the Holy spirit is speaking to the father. So even if you have just a few words, be faithful and speak it. Ask the lord to fill you and give you more. And over time he will start adding more to you.

Sometimes the phrases are just praise and those are repetitive. Sometimes they are more but one thing about it is you're not choosing to repeat something. Tongues comes from the holy Ghost not from you. I know someone who wrote down what she felt God gave her as her tongues and she would read it out loud as her prayer. That's not how it works. If you have memorized your tongues then listen to this young man and pray for spontaneous experience. But remember You can pray for a new experience but it won't happen if you're focused on the experience It will only happen if you're focused on God and praising and worshiping him. You can't pray for tongues and tongues come, tongues come when you have your mind on God and he speaks through you. I am currently seeking a refreshing so I'm not judging anyone who is doing this I'm just wanting to help with understanding. Blessings!

@@MssWinnie Yes just focus on God and loving him because he wants you to have it He's not holding it back and don't worry about tongues It will come. It does help to be in an atmosphere of worship but you know the story we've all heard of somebody getting it doing the dishes and I really have one of my old neighbors did that when she first come to God. Just let yourself soak in loving him and it's going to come. I'm praying for you
@@carda5967thank you so much. This makes a lot of sense to me. I have only spoken WHEN I’ve been lost in worship or focused only on praying and praising God. I can’t just make it happen out of the blue like the way we start talking in a normal conversation. It has only happened when I felt deeply moved by the Spirit in me. Does this make sense?
But I have many friends who do speak in tongues as easily as they can speak a prayer in English they can pray in tongues. I haven’t been able to do that.

Seek understanding and edification or you aren't really doing anything but making yourself feel good. Please see how this practice is nonsensical. God gives us wisdom in the spirit not "tongues"

Continue to ask God to give you your prayer language, in due time He will give it to you. It will happen when you are not expecting.

@@julietsoty9367 He will give it to you, I watched a video during a live air where the host prayed for us and walked us into it by relaxing our spirits, not to think of anything but open yourself up to receive, then he said start making any sound, e.g vowels and any alphabets, then all of a sudden, out of my belly flew rivers of living water. I use the gift every day. It’s the best thing to have happened to me. I didn’t know how and what to pray. Continue praying, he will bring a video for you to watch that will activate it for you or someone in your walk of life who will activate it for you. Include it in your prayer requests and write it down.

That the Spirit makes intersessions for us does not mean we speak in tongues. If you dont know what to pray for you simply dont pray at all. The spirit gives the gift and it must be a real language that ought to be interpreted, not a baby language nobody understands. Praying must be both according to the spirit and your mind...that is understanding.

Interpretation is key, you have to ask the Holy Spirit to interpret it for you and it takes a lot of learning to do. I’m still in the infancy of it but it’s really helped me get into the intimacy of prayer with God. Praise the Lord🙏
Not everyone is gifted with interpretation, the most important thing is to pray, regardless of understanding.

Praying in the spirit for self editification will never need a interpretation and cant have one because its unbiblical. Paul made a very specific destiction between praying or praising in the spirit and the gift of toungues (which is a message to the church). Paul said that the gift of tongues and interpretation is for the unbeliever as a sign not one who believes in 1st cor 14 and that scripture alone tears down the idea of this doctrin.

Speaking in tongues in church is what you are talking about and it is different. Paul said instead of speaking in tongues to people in church, without an interpretation, it is better to prophesy to them to edify them.
We that are blessed with the gift of praying in tongues must do so for hours every day. We must volunteer ourselves as intercesors for the Holy Spirit.

Hi I think I was just praying in tongues this evening and I’ve never done that before and I don’t even know what happened. I had seen videos about tongues, I also have a friend who does it. I had been curious about it but never understood how its done. I was desperately praying this evening and I felt like giving up but then I started to speak not in English but just said a string of what would sound like babble and I spoke it faster and then I got freaked out and stopped. I was kind of feeling afraid because I didn’t know what was going on. But then I started to pray in English “Lord Jesus please show me how to love like you love, pray how you pray, serve how you serve” and I started to feel peace. Then I was feeling a soft flame in my heart. I could also feel myself heat up as I was praying in the babbling. I’m new to this too, I just became Christian at the end of August
I am not trying to be ugly when I say this, but you have to be devoted and saved. Speaking in tongues after watching how to do it you may think you are but I can assure you God don't give his gift out that fast. We had a few weeks of Bible Study on this. It is not given by God to just anyone.
