Except Michelle wrote far more wholesome lyrics. She has hits about longing for a man she misses and saving them from their struggles with loneliness. That would be frowned upon nowadays, so the others write about leaving guys in the dust…

It's like a freaking Time Machine i know!! Whilst I was watching I was like 'Daaaaa*n f*ck!!!! Shit!!! Feels so sad everything in media is so light and superficial now!!!". Most 'Artists' are sold by sex and not talent anymore.:(
I know right? I thank TMF (The Music Factory, Belgium/Netherlands) who got me to know this song. I was only 15 when this came out. I also discovered the Dutch music artist Sita at the same time!
Michelle. My name is Kyle. I'm completely blind in both eyes, and I am partially deaf. I grew up listening to your music, I'm now 23 years old. I really love listening to the sound of your voice. Just the sound of your voice puts me to sleep. I suffer from a disease called Norrie's syndrome, which caused my blindness and hearing loss. I have been blind all my life, but gradually started to lose my hearing at age 12. At 19, my hearing got so bad I had to get hearing aids. I am totally deaf without my hearing aids, so I am worthless without them! I love you Michelle, and I wish I could hug you! When I was little I called you my sister! I was just a baby when you started your career, well like 4. But still. I feel like you've been a big part of my life even though I never met you. I always dreamed of meeting you and giving you a big hug! I'm not a normal person at all, I'm blind, hearing impaired, and I have autism. But I still get around, and I am currently looking for work. Well heading to bed it's late. I love you Michelle! Hugs!
Were you even alive in the early 2000s lol. She was not "underrated". She won a fu*king grammy. She had a ton of top singles and albums. I swear dorks love to use that word to describe everything.😒
This song replaces love of God with love of a person, love of God's creation. God is not going to bend to man's rules. Don't say you weren't warned. Isaiah 65:12 Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. John 1:5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
@Click Here for Show It To Others TV You know what? I really do hate all you self-righteous Evangelical Christians. You're not bringing anyone to God. You're driving them away with your Bible banging pulpit banging sermonizing. I was raised a Christian. I'm about to become a full blown atheist because of how much I loathe all you non-Christian "Christians." Get over yourself. Your judgmental attitude just drives people away from Christianity, rather than inspiring them to want to become one. Especially all the shit about sending people to Hell for whatever sin you think they committed. Maybe you think that's a perfect way to bring non-Christians to Christianity. It's not. I don't want to be part of any religion where your God punishes me by throwing my soul into the fires of Hell if we don't worship him correctly. Not. A. Strong. Selling. Point. And it's not very Christ-like of you. When I read the Bible? I don't recall that Jesus threatened anyone with Hell fire and damnation like you seem intent on. Get over yourself dood. It's just a song. (And how do you know for sure it's about a person? It could be about God, depending upon how you listen to it and interpret it.)
+Shmitt Reuben STYLE CHANGES. Older singers get pushed-out and replaced with new singers, usually ones liked by teens (like we were when Michelle, Avril, Vanessa first appeared). Very few singers stay popular beyond 10 years, unless they are superstars like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Mariah, Rihanna, etc (and even their careers are basically done) .
Back in the days we could turn the radio and enjoy some mainstream songs like this one, im a metalhead too, god I only wish people used instruments nowdays, all pop songs sound the same.
Same I really started to listen to classic rock and metal at age 13 (I'm 26 btw) but before 00s pop was my everything this is way better than what zoomers are jamming man ps I was a 6 7 year old but man Radio Disney/Disney Channel had bangers Michelle Branch Vanessa Carlton Cheetah Girls Hillary Duff Yellowcard NSYNC Backstreet Boys Spice Girls All American Rejects is so nostalgic I wish I could've grown up with Zeppelin Sabbath and Metallica (who I discovered during my high school years as my baby boomer parents weren't rock fans much) sooner but that 00s pop is still nostalgic and take me back man I miss being a kid
How does this video only have 19 million views? As a 27 year old male who doesn't listen to this, it came up on the SiriusXM and nostalgia hit me like a ton of bricks. This song was literally everywhere in the 2000s.
Prolly because youtube wasn't big for like 5 years after this song came out, and this video wasn't even put on the site til 2014. No one was listening to this song by then
@@DarknessFlameMedia That does seem to be the case with many songs released before 2008 or '09. CZcams itself didn't exist until April 2005, though we didn't really see channels become more developed until 2007. As such, a lot of music-even what was domestic may not have been remembered as broadly...
I was trying to unlock what this song was from my distant, muddled memories of hearing it on the radio all the time growing up. Fortunately my mind was able to complete some of the lyrics and I finally dug it up. Like finding a time capsule.
This song will always remind me of my dad. I'm 47 and when I hear this, I close my eyes, and I can still see him. He passed away 3 years ago now. This is such an amazing song.

so true, I'm not really a taylor swift fan but a big michelle branch fan but theres some similarities with the artists, my point being being i wonder why michelle isn't as big a star, probably just wrong place wrong time, doesn't change the fact michelles awesome all the same
I am now a 30 yo dude listening to all the cheesy pop music i used to hate back in the early 00's just because i feel nostalgic and miss my early teenage years, time flies man!
lmao same here man, even tho this is not really a teen pop song, actually i feel like it's not even pop, but the other day i listened to an Ashlee Simpson song and it brought me back so many memories, miss the days when smartphones weren't a thing yet, everyone chatted on MSN, listened to music on cd walkman, myspace was a trend and TV was way more watched.
I know what you mean lol.I used to hate on songs like This , Avril lavine , n sync, backstreet boys because at that time I listened to artists like Petey Pablo, juvenile, Nelly and DMX lol. Now it's all great haha . That Nostalgia effect
Who else is watching this in 2024 and absolutely astounded by the size and quality of her apartment and realizing how unaffordable it is for the Michelle Branches of this generation without a trust fund?
2023 Thank God for Shazam..Never knew about Michelle Branch heard this on the radio and loved it. Went home played this song and saw my wife tapping to it😊 ....she loved it as well.
I only got into VH1 jumpstart before school in 2011 and even though CZcams was around then it was still such an experience until they stopped it in 2016
Most people listened to the radio then, they didn't watch videos. Most music videos aren't memorable or good, which is why MTV couldn't stay alive on music alone.
Around the time the original Napster was shut down, a new program called Kazaa came out. The crazy new feature was that you could share and download more then just mp3s, but other stuff like programs and video files. I found a copy of this video that I could reasonably download on my dial-up connection and I watched that postage stamp sized video over and over again.
Everytime, Everywhere just listening of early 2000's with Michelle Branch, Jesse McCartney, Ryan Cabrera, Avril LaVigne, Jojo, Stacie Oricco, Vanessa Carlton and so many during quarantine period.
When life seemed more exciting and interesting. When facebook was not relevant, when there was no twitter, no instagram, no bullshit ! All we had was Myspace, piczo and yahoo messenger. When we had great music and music videos without any nonsense ! When music actually made you feel something and had a real meaning ! Those were the days... I'd go back any time, without hesitation !
we still have plenty of music that means some thing you’re clearly just listening to a bunch of radio hits that aren’t meant to make you feel anything but happy and carefree. social media isn’t the problem you’re just insecure that you’re a has been and your time is up.
True that kids went out and played and made memories. Only socials I have is CZcams free music can't complain about that but the rest of it. I weep for the world.
This song came out 22 years ago, Michelle was 18 then and I was 37. Now she is 40 and I am 59 wow, my how the years go by a lot faster when you get older! Just something for you younger people to look forward to!
Where has she gone? I really loved her music. Please come back! I don't do social media so I may not be in the know. She was just so dang good. I would love to see her live. I hope she is well and enjoying life.

When I hear music like this I can almost close my eyes & get a small whiff of the past. It smells like the best thing you''ve ever EVER SMELLED & YOU JUST WANT MORE OF IT. WHILE YOUR EYES ARE CLOSED YOU ARE TAKEN BACK TO YOUR YOUTH IN A SPECIAL MOMENT IN THE PAST WHERE YOU WERE HAPPY LISTENING TO MICHELLE Branch. Love this song too. Bring me back to my early adulthood. Time is only a concept. Concept made of three basic things. Try to think of what time is made of, and go to the most basic you can figure.
+Yung Metro I wanted to make a "Does Yung Metro Trust you" joke but I have a feeling you've heard enough of them. But, yeah I miss early 2000's pop as well it's weird how folks used to rant about how phony the pop scene was back then, yet ironically now it feels more genuine and organic than the stuff we have now, I guess you just don't know what you got till it's gone.
I sure do. I remember it well the song always popped even throughout my childhood and teens. It’s one of the songs that got me through elementary school
I feel so nostalgic listening to this and I love it. These were the times when music was at its best. Music today is lacking something and I think its soul. The music of the late 90's and early 00's is where its at for me and holds a special place in my heart forever. I wish Michelle would come back and make beautiful music like this again once more.☺

Evianna Torio dude, so amazing
It's like a freaking Time Machine i know!! Whilst I was watching I was like 'Daaaaa*n f*ck!!!! Shit!!! Feels so sad everything in media is so light and superficial now!!!".

Evianna Torio well.. it was made in 2002 so..

One of the most powerful songs in my life, and absolutely due to the artist. Much love to her!
Crazy how time flies, i was 12 when this song came out and now i'm 33. Still love it.

Me neither.
Love from Kazahkstan!
Hugs!
Thanks for sharing this. I hope she sees it and acknowledges how her music still touches people.

One of the most underrated singers
I make a NBA mix with this song y'all check it out y'all probably like it

She's using auto-tune, but I like her songs, I'd say she's an underrated artist.
I mean she was all over the radio back then. Its not like she wasn't popular.
@@user-kk6pk3zn2g 🤣😄🤭 that's not auto tune lol I saw her perform live back n the days, trippn
Michelle Branch was so talented and so underrated. I love her music.
wtf is she dead ,chill with the past tense, bru
Were you even alive in the early 2000s lol. She was not "underrated". She won a fu*king grammy. She had a ton of top singles and albums. I swear dorks love to use that word to describe everything.😒
She still is!
I agree. Really loved here songs. Pure voice and sound.
She's so talented and beautiful 😍😍
Always loved this song. Wow, time flies. It seems like yesterday I was listening to it. Hard to believe it is from 2001.
Michelle branch and Avril Lavigne are the reasons why I pursued taking guitar lessons..

You know what?
I really do hate all you self-righteous Evangelical Christians.
You're not bringing anyone to God.
You're driving them away with your Bible banging pulpit banging sermonizing.
I was raised a Christian.
I'm about to become a full blown atheist because of how much I loathe all you non-Christian "Christians."
Get over yourself.
I hope you listen for a really long time

How does this video only have 19 million views? As a 27 year old male who doesn't listen to this, it came up on the SiriusXM and nostalgia hit me like a ton of bricks. This song was literally everywhere in the 2000s.
Prolly because youtube wasn't big for like 5 years after this song came out, and this video wasn't even put on the site til 2014. No one was listening to this song by then

Lyrics
Turn it inside out so I can see
The part of you that's drifting over me
And when I wake you're, you're never there
But when I sleep you're, you're everywhere
You're everywhere
Just tell me how I got this far
Just tell me why you're here and who you are
'Cause every time I look
You're never there
And every time I sleep
You're always there
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes it's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
I'm not alone
I recognize the way you make me feel
It's hard to think that
You might not be real
I sense it now, the water's getting deep
I try to wash the pain away from me
Away from me
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes it's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
I'm not alone
I am not alone
Whoa, oh, oooh, oh
And when I touch your hand
It's then I understand
The beauty that's within
It's now that we begin
You always light my way
I hope there never comes a day
No matter where I go
I always feel you so
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes it's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
'Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I catch my breath
It's you I breathe
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone
You're in everyone I see
So tell me
Do you see me?
I dont hear when she says I HOPE
