- I think,that every a true fan of Alan Rickman,must respect Rima Horton. Alan deserve Rima,Rima deserve Alan. Both are talented and clever people. They deserve each other.

I always loved the idea of their relationship. Being with that person who knew you, who chose you before you were famous, before everyone knew you as one of the sexiest men alive, when they would just pass you on the street without a second glance. The person who saw your worth then, before you even did. She must have kept him so grounded, and he was so smart to stay with her.

I wonder what you would say about their beautiful love after she published his private diaries without his consent,with the pretext of funding pancreatic cancer research.
He left her millions and she could have donated some of that money for that cause.
Some diaries entries are so ambiguous that caused a lot of his fans to make ridiculous assumptions about Alan's life and character,for which he can't defend himself.
Of all people,she should have known how private man he was and respect that.
Alan would never want his diaries published.
There's proof of that in the diaries foreword by the editor himself.
He says it's not clear whether Alan wanted his diaries published or not.
There's also evidence in the Guardian interview of Alan's godson Tom Burke,who also said that Alan would never write any kind of memoir,with his exact words "I know myself and I am not interested".
All that is in the public domain.
Publishing his private diaries is an act of disrespect to Alan's memory considering how attentive he was to her needs and wishes,at the detriment of his own.
Probably an act of drawing attention to herself,since she couldn't do that when Alan was alive.
i agree wholeheartedly. They had a different kind of relationship, Alan himself attested to that. Alan sacrificed so much for her... children, a dog even. What could she have possibly given up for him that was so great?? Why did he continue making films and doing theater after he made a fortune in HP?why didn't he slow down a little and spend more time in his beloved home in Tuscany wouldn't you? Why didn't he want to go home more often? I believe if he had a family to come home to, even a dog, he would have been happier and healthier. He would have taken better care of himself, for his family. He was talked out of these things he didn't agree to them he just acquiesced to her wishes. He always did try to make people happy at his own expense. I don't believe Rima loved him like someone so special and good deserved to have been loved. He deserved the world...

I hope she is doing ok without him. I lost by beloved husband around the same time. It's not easy but happy memories keep you going.
It would have been easier on her if she had Alan's kids and grandkids to comfort and care for her in her old age.

Yes! That's the way it should be when you lose a spouse. You still have a part of them with you, and they will be a comfort to you the rest of your life. I think she looks so frail and worn now because she realizes what she could of had if she hadn't been so selfish and neglectful of dear Alan and his wishes
My parents are married and have been for 55 yrs. They met in 1962 at 18 and 19. It's the way it was in those days. they are each other's soulmates and best friends. I think their sense of humour and mutual respect are what bind them. This kind of love story is very possible but it takes work. A lot of WORK and compromise. Rima is a boss to take on an actor. Being one myself, you have to have an extremely open minded and tolerant partner and preferably one not in show business. Alan Rickman was my hero and favourite actor of all time. Always.

Just think, if they had married in their early years, they might have been married 50 years.
Alan was a traditional family values type of guy and he would have married her earlier if they would of had children, which he wanted very much. He said fatherhood was not something he deliberately chose to avoid, which means she led him to believe they'd have children at some point. By staying with her that means he did deliberately choose and he says he didn't so the only other explanation is that he thought there would be children someday. As bad as it is and believe me that's heartbreaking, the fact that she published his diaries when he explicitly requested they be destroyed after his death is shameful!

I still can't understand why that guy died so young !!! Some people said cancer is a psychosomatic illness ( as every illness ?? may be ) but in his case it's hard to believe it ! Good career , happy 50 years duration Relationship, intelligence ...etc etc etc but what was behind that ??? Anyway I suppose Rima Horton prefers him to be where he is NOW than still alive , suffering in a wheeling chair... won't she ? !... At least she had half a decade of happiness in love ... who could say so ??? A lot of people died on the Planet , of any age , any culture or religion ... Great mystery of life !!!... françoise Bremond I read that Alan's father died of cancer and he himself had one of the worst types pancreas' cancer it is known for being silent and most of the time it is discovered in the latest stages of the illness and it strikes hard cause it easily extends to the arteries and the other organs liver intestines... which makes it a fatal one, it is caused by alcohol and you can add the genetic part to it.
Rima was his first girlfriend and school sweetheart she loved him when he had nothing I can't imagine how devastated she is after his death.
His inner animal is Tiger according to (Chinese zodiac) .most people born with tiger as their inner animal are very energetic and loved by all people. They rule the world. However, they live up-to ages of 68 or 69 for some reason... like Alan rickman and J. Jayalalitha .they are adored during their last stage of life.

Nobody 'should' have children if they decide it's not for them Alan accepted her decision and could have left her but chose to stay. That was his decision and it's nobody else's business.
If you listen to the podcast "A Life Lived" with Alan's brothers and Juliet Stevenson there's a part where one of his brothers describes Alan as a man who would do what seemed right to him even at his expense.
He wanted to make people happy and give them what they wanted,but was denied a lot of things he wanted for himself

They did in 2012. In my opinion they did because they knew about his illness. But why they hadn't married before, I don't know. Maybe they belived that love can exist without marriage and they proved it.
Alice Sutton They didn’t know about his illness in tell August of 2015 after having a mild stroke. His friends also said that he didn’t know how severe it was in tell weeks before he died. He had pancreatic cancer which is the deadliest as you can’t tell any signs in tell you are in the late stages of the cancer. By the time they find it, it has already spread to other organs.

@@user-sf3fe4bh2q I ordered the diaries,paid a lot to have it delivered where I live and only got to read a few pages at the end,where Rima wrote some things about how Alan's final days were like and then I decided to start reading it from the first page.
I froze when I read the editor's note.

Put that book back in its case and will never be tempted to read it until my dying day.
I love and respect him too much to read something private.
I wish I hadn't read those few pages at all , still feeling guilty I have.
