    My engagement ring center stone is a 1.65 carat Marquis diamond. I went with an art deco setting, with IGI certified lab diamonds on the whole ring. Because I am one of those people who doesn’t want a natural diamond due to my devotion to marine conservation and human rights. Natural diamond mining isn’t good for the planet. My Marquis diamond came from Brilliant Earth. It cost 5,000.00 and is IGI certified. It’s beautiful! It lists on the certificate that it is VVS1, 1.65 Ct weight, color is G. I couldn’t be more happy with it. Because it is beautiful, has no visible flaws or bow tie effect, and is conflict free. I also wanted one that is not colorless and G is perfect because it is “nearly colorless” but doesn’t feel so “cold” as a colorless diamond does. I am not fond of the “ice” look on colorless diamonds. I like a little bit of warmth. When I lived in England, pretty much all diamond jewelry was IGI certified. I’ve compared my diamond to GIA of equal grading and it’s the same. The cut quality of my center stone is phenomenal, it sparkles beautifully even in dull indoor daylight.

      @OsirisDiamonds  Před rokem

      Wow, thank you! I love true hearts, in terms of value, they are the best priced premium cut. This is what I tell my clients. The diamond game is one of slights. The difference between I and H or VS2 or VS1 is so little. Eventually, it may become perceptible. but from each step up, its nominal. Light return is something more noticeable. A premium cut is slightly better in light performance. In the end it makes the strongest impact outside of carat size.

    Hi Osiris--I'm wondering about the actual process of getting a diamond ring evaluated by GIA or IGI. I'm guessing there is an address you have to send it to (registered mail) and then it gets inspected by a person and sent back to you??? How can I be sure my diamond won't get removed and replaced with a lesser quality one in the process? Is it just a matter of trust (of a person I do not know)? Thanks so much if you answer this:)

    Hi! Thanks so much for your videos I’ve learned a lot - I notice that most of the IGI lab diamonds on James Allen don’t have an inclusion diagram as part of the IGI certificate. Would you still be comfortable buying a diamond without seeing the inclusion certificate (I’m looking at VVS1 clarity)?

    • @OsirisDiamonds
      @OsirisDiamonds  Před rokem +4

      Most important is the visual confirmation that your diamond is eye clean. This 20x magnification is key. A vvvs1 needs a microscope to see flaws. I would be 100% comfortable not seeing a diamond plot on a stone like this.

    It depends on what your definition of standard is. I wouldn’t say because someone has the market share they are the “standard”. As you acknowledged GIA have tighter tolerances, which in many uses of the word would be the “standard”

    Reviewed on internet a few years back that IGI legal case against them for upgrading the color of the lab grown diamond, now I like to know as you stated this practice is still going on, how can IGI be illegally stating on the IGI certification of a color if that isn't the true color? How can IGI as you stated then fausalfy and over charge the consumer who reads the IGI report online pays for a lab grown diamond and as you stated gets 1 color done graded? • @OsirisDiamonds

      Nothing wrong with inclusions as long as it doesn't effect the diamond beauty. That saying is used by people selling lower clarity, it sounds special. ALL gemologists (at all institutes) are required to use a 10x magnifier when grading natural diamonds to produce certificates.....
    Pro-Tip: When it gets to the to the retail/wholesale level, the purchaser may use a 30X magnifier to find imperfections the gemologist miss.
    So educate yourself and buy a magnifier for stones, educate yourself and happy shopping.
    I have seen EGL and AGS diamonds rated lower than it should be, and "should" be valued more than a GIA diamond...
    Edit add:. The diamond industry is beyond what I thought of before becoming an "honourary " gemologist. 😂 Basically GIA certificates are a "consumers" diamond... Anything less, is a "sellers" diamond..
    Edit add 2:. I've seen insurance companies value EGL AGS diamonds more than a GIA!

    You’re smoking crack if you pay 17k for J colored lab diamond VS anything.
