    I’ve made this video to help give those looking to modify their new JB74 Jimny a bit of an idea of the costs ahead.
    Obviously some people will have extensive car knowledge and can save themselves on labour costs.
    I’m average with cars, so some things I install myself while other things I save for the professionals.
    A lot of people refuse to talk about the cost of these kids but quite frankly I don’t mind sharing at all. Reality is if people really wanted to find out they could, I’m just trying to save some of you some time 😊
    Take care and if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments 🤙🏼

      @@TheLittleRig Your welcome. Currently trolling the web looking at all possible things I might be able to do to a Jimny if I end up being able to get one in the next 12-18 months its so helpful when you know roughly what the costs are so you can determine must haves and would like to haves. Seeing what is available in AUS is extra helpful. Saw the roof rack on a UK base clip and thought that looks like just the thing but wouldn't be able to get it here but.............. Who was the supplier here? I assume you are SE QLD?

    I have not started modifying the Jimny, but replacing both bumpers plus added recovery points and tow-bar integrated into the bumpers, full underbody protection, 50mm lift kit, wheel spacers, breather kit, snorkel and long-range fuel tank plus performance exhaust will cost just over a R100,000 in ZAR or 8 678,94 in AUD, This is more than a quarter of the Jimny purchase price. That is nothing extra added to the interior, no roof rack or ladder and leaves me with stock ex-factory tires. Still, this represents a considerable distance beyond the furthest limit of my budget and after this every cent spent will be on actual journeys.

    Love the car man. Super capable and very impressive. Just wondering if you've installed a breather on the transfer case? I've just done the diffs on mine but found the tcase breather too tricky to get to. Also, even if I removed the cap apparently the spigot is not tall enough to really clamp a hose on. If you haven't put one on; have you had any issues with water ingress in the tcase? If you have, did you get a thread tapped into the breather port for a right angle fitting? I imagine you'd have had the tcase out to fit the reduction gears at some point. Cheers mate!

    • @TheLittleRig
      @TheLittleRig  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey mate excellent question. So initially the way I did my transfer case breather line was to clamp a hose on (you’re right, there’s barely any room) and also use some silicon to help hold and seal it off. It did the trick for about 12 months.
      When I had the transfer case out for the gears, the old hose was removed and a right and piece was tapped in for a proper hose connection. It’s so much better.
      But yeah, the first option definitely worked completely fine aswell. It’s so awkward to get up in above that transfer case to work on it hey.

    thanks for sharing TLR, would you consider tallying the weight of all the mods and accessories and checking how over GVM your JB74 is? being a fellow JB74W Owner; weight, range are my biggest concerns while at the same time learning its capabilities will determine what needs to be added, so far; tires, lift, recovery, winch, long range tank for >1100km range but holding off on all else-> no roof rack, no awning, no excess burden, the LRDG way "non vi sed arte"

    • @TheLittleRig
      @TheLittleRig  Před 3 lety +1

      A little while back I weighed it with my wife and I in the car and we were about 40kg short of GVM. I’ve only added the Bazooka tank (4kg empty) since then so I think I’m still just under. Having said that it was only the scales at the local tip so not sure how accurate they were
      For me, it’s all about the off road performance and ability to be self sufficient in hard to reach places if I ever get stuck, so it’s definitely worth it.

      Yeah I’m not overly concerned at this stage. I have a bit more weight to go on with the steel rear bar. There was no gvm upgrade available back when I did my lift. In fact, EFS suspension was basically the only option. But it’s been fantastic and is so good off-road.
      One day I might look at doing the iron man suspension with the GVM upgrade though 😊

How did you get that second hole near the head of the axe, I have what looks like the same one (X21) in the anniversary black. Was that something you simply drilled through?
