I really hope CZcams won't just swallow my comment (as it usually does), so here goes nothing...
While I'm not sure if I could pick any normal battle theme from the Final Fantasy series that I would definitely consider THE best, this one is certainly sitting comfortably near the top of the list. The FF8 battle theme has the epicness and buildup that is traditionally associated with boss battle themes, yet it also works perfectly fine for the less epic encounters. So it's definitely a versatile one, I would argue.
As for your new rendition of this track, I am simply blown away by it. You still show great respect for and understanding of the source material, which I consider a trademark of your covers, but you also manage to crank it up to 11 - which, considering the already amazing original, is no small feat! You're definitely off to a good start this year, and I am eagerly awaiting more of your work - as always! 😀
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words :) I always try to retain some of the original essence that makes me a fan of the songs I'm covering while still adding a little bit of my own spin to it, glad to hear that comes through in the final result!
@@ferdk16 It absolutely shines through, in each and every one of your covers! That's one of the things that sets your covers apart from other artists, IMHO; most succumb to the temptation of adding more of just about anything, ultimately taking away part of what made the original so special. I've never seen (or heard) you do this, though - if anything, your covers always retain what made the tracks special in the first place! :)
By the way, I think you covered Force Your Way as well in ~2011? Any plans to give that one another go as well? :D
@@XTRMNTR2K definitely plan to revisit that one too :) In fact I was originally going to do that but when this track's album was removed from stores I prioritized re-releasing this one for availability's sake. I'll have to get back to Force Your Way sooner or later though and I'm looking forward to do so!

Years ago as a child, I worked really hard helping neighbors and saved up money to buy a first release. I had the game for over then years, when a "trusted" friend "lost" my release copy, and never replaced it. This game had a lot of meaning to me, and always will, and you played the melody beautifully.
That's the same story for me but with majoras mask. Pos prolly still has my copy lololol
Had my grand pappy drive me to Toys r Us to pick this bad boy up on release then played on a 400 lb floor TV with speakers on the sides.

Man, my first FINAL FANTASY. Sure was difficult to play when your main language is spanish and the game was in Japanese. But boy, I tried and failed A LOT! Guess I couldn't start appreciating FF music until DISSIDIA, which had many music and you could freely choose as it were a Arc System Works fighting game. 🤣 Great work, man. Here is a suggestion, Vermilion Fire/The Fires of Suzaku, the final boss theme from FINAL FANTASY Type-0, a really good FINAL FANTASY game that sometimes gets pretty ignore for not being of the main line up.
This was my first FF too! In fact it was the demo that came with Brave Fencer Musashi (which a friend got with their playstation so I borrowed the FF8 demo disc and played it nonstop haha). It's not my favorite game in the series but I've played it a ton and it has IMO the best soundtrack, this theme being no exception!
I want to try Type-0 one day, I know it's quite different but I'm pretty open minded so I'm sure I can have a good time with it!
Mine was part 2 murica/part 4 japan. Got it as rental from ol smash hit videos. Before block buster was a thing. And as a like... What? 9 year old boy at the time I had NO IDEA how to get through turn based rpg games. I recruited the old man and wasn't good enough to get further than that.
Replayed it recently on my modded 3dsxl and totally abused the clone Excalibur glitch. Easy af that game is after doing that : ) lololol

Despite FF10 being my favorite game, FF8 has my favorite soundtrack, so whenever I cover songs from it I feel a bit nervous of ruining my darlings haha :) But I'm quite happy how this one turned out, and glad to hear the improvement over the original cover is noticeable!
