Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, a classic prog-rock guitar teacher on CZcams. I grew up on 70s progressive music but abandoned the genre by the 90s because it was too 'hard-edged' for me. My all-originals prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i went into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar).
2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery of 30 years of great music which I'd paid no attention to- until now!
I also will react to 70s and 80s prog that i overlooked, like gentle giant, camel, etc.

Oh hey, I love these guys! It’s so rare to see them get attention, but their brand of mathy instrumentals (and occasionally not instrumentals) always just makes you feel *good.*

Ooh! I know I’ve commented on other videos how surprised I was by the bands you reacted to, but this one really caught me off guard the most. I love Elephant Gym. One of my favorite bassists ever, and a favorite band of mine. My band Strelitzia had the fortune of playing with them and Lite in 2019. Needless to say, they both killed it, and they were incredibly nice people.
Just have to check out Strelitzia now. Just started. Sounds really exciting 2 min into Don't Wake Up the Threes!

Toe is amazing. I had the privilege of seeing them live twice during my years in Asia. Mindblowing. The Buenos Aires gig on CZcams is also great, I think the audio mix on that one is slightly better.
@@okkinen The phenomenal drummer Kashikura Takashi, one of the best I have ever heard.
@@viaverde3153 Absolutely. Fantastic technique and a lot of emotion. In the Buenos Aires gig I mentioned, he plays "a note" (a beat?) by throwing one of his drumsticks at the snare from six feet away, it's pretty funny.
Would be really cool to get a toe react video. Toe opened me up to so many great math rock artists in asia.

I never went to Taiwan, so most of my exposure was to Mainland music, and not much of that falls into the purview of "prog rock". I had, however, seriously considered recommending a Hedgehog tune...
I'd really like to see you react to the Franck Carducci Band's live version of "A Brief Tale of Time". Highly theatrical melodic prog in both the visual and musical sense.
