    I watched you cut & insulate the bucket...Great idea btw!!! But I see the bucket is in a large grey tote. Rationale? Extra water? Keep it from falling over?

    I love your system. So easy and great for small spaces. What exact variety is that green stem bok choy you showed us? I love spinach but I can’t get it to grow successfully hydroponically, but my bok Choy always germinates and thrives! I might just need to switch over from trying to grown spinach to that green stem variety.

    • @KeepOnGrowin
      @KeepOnGrowin  Před 3 lety

      I don't know. It was supposed to be white stem, lol. Looks more like tatsoi. I will try to find more, this one was a mistake.

    Loving this idea!! Do the plants not suffer from a lack of oxygenation in the roots? I am new to this gardening stuff, definitely going to build one of these :)

    • @KeepOnGrowin
      @KeepOnGrowin  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Paul! After the initial water level drops, never refill completely. I keep it between half to three quarters full all the time. The plant grows root hairs that absorb oxygen from that damp area. Dr Kratky came up with this method of growing. You can find his channel under dakineapproaches here on CZcams. I know you will enjoy this type of gardening. 😎✌🌱🌱

    WoW!! Everything looks great Mike! I ordered your new container grow system and have me some Romaine lettuce growing in one now. I'll post a picture soon 🙂
    My health lately has been knocking me for a loop, I have Fibromyalgia and it effects primary my legs, hard to stand for long periods of time, so I'm behind on a lot but slowly trying. My gosh the pain sometimes, ugh Question, I'm sure it's in one of your videos, but since I'm writing, Lol, what is your Master blend mix that you use. I've been using 12gr MB 12gr CN and 6gr ES in a 5 gallon bucket. I believe you use less, right! Does it really make a difference 🤔 I keep my PH as close to 6.0 as possible.
    Great video, I appreciate what you do!
    Hope y'all have a great week 🌞

      Sorry about that Donna, my mother-in-law had that too. I know it is tough.
      You have the right ratio. I start out with 10g/10g/5g since I am putting tiny microgreens in it. I bimp it up later or if I start with transplants from the nursery that are already established.
      Take care of yourself, much love!!🤘🌱🌱🌱

    THANK YOU! 🥰 Got my order of the multipac microgreens from your Etsy, \o/ yay! ALSO, just got some fine grade vermiculite in today and finally got a chance to set up a few microgreen seeds, on a terrafiber 5x5 square in the little Dollar Store container. I found that if I cut into the short side of the lid for the container it was exactly the width of 1/3 of those Dollar Tree Shamwow cloths (cut on their long side). So now we'll see what happens. 👍🏿👍
    ❓ How many terrafibers layers should I put down to protect the majority of the roots from damage when pulled out... so that they can be ready for transplanting into a Kratky container in a week or two without accidentally embedding themselves in the Shamwow cloth at the bottom?

    • @KeepOnGrowin

      Awesome! You are on your way! You can put a few down. As soon as the sprouts are long enough for a pool noodle, you can transfer them. Happy gardening!

    Mike I built a couple of the downspout containers and the Pok Choy grew like crazy. Found out my wife can't stand the taste of it, what else could I try in those downspouts ? We live in South Central Texas near San Antonio. Our boxes are located on our back porch rails.
