Terminator: Resistance Review (It's Really Good!)

- This game takes 30 years after Judgement Day and sets you in the Future War in the battle against Skynet.
It's honestly a really great game and it surprised me a lot. I read the mixed reviews before playing it and it gave me an unsettling feeling. But ultimately, this game delivered and I really liked how it mixed in official lore. This game does a lot of fan service and the devs and creators did an awesome job.

I love seeing more people aware of this game these days. Back when it came out, I could swear I was the only person singing its praises, I was seemingly alone on that but was always willing to die on that hill lol "Chapter 22 Downtown" alone is amazing.
lol props to you for being an early adopter. Seems like this game was raked over the coals with bad reviews when it first came out. Now it's getting a ton of love from fans!
Been looking for a more recent review of this . Nicely done.only thing to add would be to review the dlc. Especially infiltrator mode where you play as a terminator. I also feel the low review scores were from when the game launched without the dlc and graphics oprimization,it wasnt recieved as well
You could be right. The DLC definitely added some excitement to this game. I just got done Infiltrator mode a few days ago and it was quite the challenge. But super cool playing as a Terminator.
This is a game that criminally underated. I have always loved the future war part of the terminator universe. I wish more games like this were made.
Yeah same. The plasma rifle sounds are so satisfying. Let's hope the creators and devs continue this into more Terminator games and ones alike.
I just bought this game last week. I am so dang impressed with it and I'm glad I waited for the complete edition to be released. The graphics, story, and characters are so great, and I can't wait to progress through the story more. Thanks for the great review!

I have played the game through 11 times, so far. I agree with everything you said in your review. The fan service, and the soundtrack (especially in the final showdown) make it one of the best movie based games I have ever played. "The Annihilation Line" DLC is a must play for any real fan of the movies, looking for some quality fan service.
11 times that's amazing. So I'm guessing you experienced all the possible alternative endings? I'm playing annihilation line currently (streaming tonight). Pretty interesting to see Reese leading the squad. Glad we see eye to eye on the game, it's awesome!

Yes! We definitely see eye to eye on the game. I played all variations I could think of. I hate spoilers, so I won't give any. Considering the crap reviews the game got, I think it's fantastic. Not only for the fan service, etc, but for the work that went into the playability, and REplayablity. The tenth time through was when I started running out of unexplored areas and different things to do. The game certainly deserves a far better rap than it it got.
Incidentally, I also sat on the game for a few years. I downloaded it to rip the Terminator and plasma rifle 3d models from it. Something made me play it one day, and the rest is history...

Great job streaming this game, really sold it to me. I really look forward to grabbing this one during the next sales and the expansion you're currently playing looks every bit as good. That Jason X poster is mint too. About a year ago I guess I purchased The Friday the Thirteenth box set by Scream Factory which is awesome btw and watched a movie a night till they were all checked off. Some of the kills were just hilarious. Two I remember in particular were when he put a machete through a wheel chair bound guys head and then you see a mannequin in a wheelchair bouncing down the stairs which just cracked me up and of course the old classic guy getting his head uppercut clean off haha!
Oh hell yeah! You gotta grab it on the next sale for sure and the DLC has been fun so far, interesting narrative with Kyle Reese leading the squad. Cybernetic Jason is bad ass lol. and yeah the whole F13 series is awesome.

James Cameron has personally stated he sees this game as the true prequel to the original Terminator.
The final charge in the final level is one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had. I’ve completed the game, Ahnilation line, and the infiltration DLCs in the correct sequence and makes it even better.
Hey that's super cool Cameron personally gave props to this game. And yeah I loved the final charge in this game as well. It felt amazing to have the plasma rifles all beefed up and to have the other resistance squad members with you pushing forward into the final fight. Whole game was like a slow burn and the pacing was great.
Picked this up on Summer Steam sale, Great game if you like FPS. More games like this...
How no one has ever played this game in Stealth mode.... it is kinda possible!
The true way of playing it is survival hard-core. One shot & you're a gonna. So it you're force to play guerilla, set traps & shoot them in the back & other weak areas & dodge out.
Considering TEYON's awful attempt of the Rambo The Game, that's a full on redemption arc. And since they also worked on Robocop Rogue City wich is also awesome
I gotta play Rouge City... it looks pretty sweet. Robocop is another movie that got the short end of the stick with the games lol. And yeah that Rambo game looked horrifying
Fanatical Terminator fan here! It's the best Terminator game ever made! If you like stealth, it's amazing! After everything switches to night it gets creepy! Music and atmosphere is top notch! I played it after 3 times on Normal on Hard. The only thing I wish was better is the AI. There are some missed opportunities in regards to feeling "hunted". E.g. when Terminators sees you, they quickly go back to their normal "route" if you simply just stay away from their vision some time.
Good point about Terminators going back to a predictable route. It's kind of hard to pick them off or stealth them when you know they ain't going to follow you past a certain point. I'm a huge Terminator fan as well. Hoping to see more games like this!

I have the ps4 versions its not awesome. But good enough to buy the far superior enhanced PS5 version
PS5 version seems to get better critical reviews online as well. I heard it's also good on XBOXSeriesX
When you mentionned the romantic element, is Teyon pushing that same Woke LGBTQ crap like Bathesda did with Starfield or is it really just a good game without trying to drive an agenda? After wasting almost $140 CAD on the premium version of Starfield, I'm now very reluctant to get anything that is made within the last 3 to 4 years which explains why I watch reviews before buying everytime now.
Nah, Jacob Rivers (the main protagonist and person you play as) is pretty much a normal dude, like think of a young army recruit that is thrown into the battlefield. And two love interest he has in the game, Jennifer and Commander Baron, are both pretty feminine in the way they look and act.
The lore and story is actually quite good in this game overall, including the romantic stuff. I picked the game up on the Steam Summer Sale, but if you're a massive Terminator fan, I can see the full price being justified. If not, maybe wait for the Christmas or New Years Sale (I think Steam does that right?).

I'm in total agreement with you . Every franchise has been ruined by the Cultural Marxist agenda. I won't spend a penny on WOKE content. This game was probably reviewed in a negative way because it isn't WOKE. The Mad Max game is awesome and suffered a similar fate. Very little exposure and poor reviews when in reality it's a brilliant game. I mostly play the Halo and Borderlands games because of this modern day BS. Decent Movies /TV are also hard to find . F the WOKE idiots.

I'm here after the second episode of the new anime on netflix Terminator ZERO btw straight BANGER I'm all in on terminator shit i slept on this my whole life always thought the series was mid my problem was i was born in 94 so i didn't even know about any of it tell i was 9 years old maybe 8 depending on the month terminator 3 came out in 03 so being a lil kid and watching the older moves from the 80s in the early 2000 the graphics didn't do it for me i was a snobby lil bitch who couldn't appreciate the time difference an ability's of film back then and game whys i couldn't see this game having anything good and i already didn't think the story had any meat on it but FUCK was i wrong!!! BTW ITS ONLY $9.99 on steam right now tell 09/09/24

Added to my wish list. Don't think I 40 bucks is worth it but I'll pick it up for 20-25 bucks when it goes on sales.
Yeah keep an eye out on the Steam/PSN/XBONE sales. I'm sure it will go on sale again. Game is from 2019
