Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

I'd love to see you do this in a sled of some sort, using those low friction skids. I feel like the lack of ability to brake would have hilarious results.

i would love to see this in reverse, build like a car that can go uphill, or build a airplane to fly uphill or something. That would be sick

Best played :D ! A car, a glider... maybe next time try a slider? No wheels, just slide and perhaps a thrusters for flat parts and speed. Braking will be trickey then - air breaks :D I'd like to see that!
well, you could control it like a hovercraft, except that you'd really want that extra friction from the contact with the ground.

If you really want to make this hard for your self. Put a distance sensor in the bottom of the plane pointing down to the ground. Reverse trigger and set distance to about 10/15 meters and connect to a dynamiet
That won't work. there are a few spots where you need to squeeze into tight spaces. But you could hook that sensor into logic that disables you ability to pull up and/or puts on the air brakes. That way you'd only have a second or so of flying close to the ground before you fall out of the sky.

I started counting down when I saw the piston section coming up. I remembered the massive one that was in the middle of the course and what do you know, scrapman forgot it was there. I hit 1 just as the piston activated. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I hoped that you'll give this map a second try, but haven't seen that coming. Great idea thou! Now I have an idea - what about downhill-like course made for planes specifically? Also, considering how doable gliding through course seems to be - maybe try some vehicle vs glider multiplayer challenge here if you want to mess up with this map ever again? Might be quite interesting to see such a competition.
I think it would be very interesting to see. Gliding is easy but very slow, using a car is hard but soo much faster, especially if you know exactly where to go. For example: there is a fast and relatively easy way to do the 1st piston section with a car, but you must take a specific path at around 220 km/h
@@Dr.Observation I believe I was able to get like 270 km/h here few times with a vehicle I put as recommended in the description, but like you've said, it's way harder than gliding + the faster you go the smaller room for error you have (above 250 it pretty much none).
Great video SM! Not near as hard of an achievement as a flawless car run but as always you have a way of spinning the videos as entertaining AND stressful! Haha

I would love to see this course done in reverse, where you build a plane with jets and fly backwards up to the top. Although it might be really annoying if you can’t spawn at the bottom
I think it would be more fun to see the downhill track with hover pads :D

Like I said in the downhill course vid, I remember that in Steep, the snow sports game, there's this tight tunnel in the Alps map where I'd try to ski, snowboard and even wingsuit through. It's a lot like this, but much worse. I remember failing a lot and the sense of accomplishment when I got out, especially when wingsuiting through it.

^this. In fact this map was made with multiplayer in mind and from what I've tested a while ago people seemed to enjoy competing here.
building gliders: scrapman: center of lift, center of mass,...... everyone else: i just want to get it to glide

If you ever wanna slow down a plane build, you can just add more lift. Lift converts speed into drag, and upward force- The extra drag will slow you down, and the extra lift will help keep you stable at the slower speeds anyway
You should have built a plane and gone up the hill, that could have been like a different challenge than the previous episode.
I think Scrapman forgot he is one of the best glider builder in the evolution series😂😂
I have an idea for a challenge but it's 2v2 so you have to play together to beat the other team. Each team has 2 lives, that means you must have 2 vehicles in a team, no matter if they are submarines or planes, both vehicles must have 2 seats, one who drives and the other one does shooting, the driver can also shoot too and the partner who shoots can also have a detachable seat to defend the driver, because if the driver leaves his seat, the game is over, if the first vehicle is destroyed, the team must quickly switch to another of their vehicles. the one who drove is the shooter and your partner become the driver

your next scrap mechanic playthrough should be with the mod "Raft Mechanic"
Scrapman, you should probably try this downhill course with a hovercraft or a crawler mech. (Engines are allowed on the hovercraft and the Crawler mech)

Challenge mode: Get all hoops of fire, including the one at the top of the pipe at 12:38.
You said you wouldn't glide over obstacles but I still feel like you did for almost all of the turns and obstacles that weren't super tall

the flying music just reminds me of how to train your dragon
do you know that feeling when you wanna go rift and pressing D hard as you can and waiting for the hinge to turn? happened to me so much that after a month I broke 3 keys on my keyboard by holding so hard and everytime I just set the control to a different key but at 3rd key replaced keyboard completly. and only happened in trailmakers even through my cpu,ram,fps and smoothness are best on trailmakers.
Should've left the wheels on so you could've used the ramp at the end as a speed boost
Next, with hoverpads. No turning thrust.
I would put lights on the glider to better gauge the distance between the vehicle and the rock
Try do it using the floater things that keep you a set distance from the ground
