We don't know quite yet what HALAZIA means. HALA HALA is one of their first songs that introduced their alter egos HALATEEZ. They have a very detailed, very big storyline that goes all the back to their debut with "Pirate King" and "Treasure." Now this storyline has only been revealed by a 1/3 according to their captain (their leader) Hongjoong. Short version of what we know so far, they are pirates with a ship that flys thru the sky, they are after something called a Cromer (an hourglass) that can control time. However, they are not the only ones after it, there are these guys that ATINY call the white giants, they have been in several videos and performances. However, HALATEEZ gets their hands on the Cromer first and somehow (we are not sure how) it breaks. Which stops time. That is why Mingi says that they are stuck between the present and the future. They are in a post apocalyptic world where it is controlled by the "Moon," or the "Eye in the sky" that they try to bring down. We know that gravity is unstable, but if you watch their last comeback "Guerilla," it sets up to this one, and at the end of this video, one of the San, sacrifices himself to saves the others. But they also need witnesses. That is who you see at the end on the roof. And you can't forget the Bluebird flying above them. Their current album, called spin off : Witness, their last song is called Outro:Bluebird. Oh one last thing, this video is a spin off of the main storyline. Another angle and route for our guys. Now there are theories everywhere about this. I have read that Zia means light in both Latin and Arabic. And a Korean couple who broke down the lyrics said it was like a prayer. There is so much involved with this. I am sorry it was so long, buy explaining this can take some time. I hope it helps you understand a little more. For me, ATEEZ is THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST in KPop, especially 4th generation, and they are far ahead of their time and always EPIC in their music, performance and storytelling. Their storyline/lore is super exciting & intriguing, but a bit complicated, as it involves pirates/rebels/guerrillas, time travel and alternate universes, including a dystopian society, where ATEEZ must now take over for HALATEEZ (the alternate version of themselves in this dystopian world called Strickland). HALATEEZ are rebels/anarchists who wear the all black outfits and fedora hats and the facemasks. They are all in a fight for freedom of art, emotion & expression (that has been taken away by government leaders) in this dystopian world. Also, since their debut, the storyline, including whatever is happening in each of their MV's, weaves in & out of different time periods, (past, present, future), along with the different universes. And so the lore is about ATEEZ'S full journey in all of this. Their storyline goes all the way back to their debut and pretty much every single music video and every song that they have connects - in some way or another - to the lore. There are quite a few CZcams videos that explain the storyline or at least have theories about the lore. But for now, this will help explain HALAZIA a bit more. I may be reading into it too much, but thinking about what was said in the little prologue video they dropped earlier this week, I feel like Halazia is what the people in the universe call Halateez (the guys in all black with the hats). They're supposed to be saviours of some kind and "Hala Hala Hala Hala Halazia" would be the chant to like... summon or call out to them? That's why the outfits are on a podium, it's an altar or tribute of some kind. Like Jesus on a giant cross, y'know? Anyway, since the backstory is that human emotions and anything that invokes them (like music and art) are forbidden, the people pray to them to "bring the light", "colour this infinitely cold world", give them "hot passion instead of cold despair" and allow them to feel again.
I had similar thoughts - since they keep saying this MV/album is not from the perspective of either group but a "civilian", the blue bird who lost their voice and is now looking for hope, they would see Halateez as some kind of almost mythical entity, especially after they disappeared/got captured and imprisoned.
It's hard to tell what the sphere is but their lore mentions stolen voices being "stored" in that shape, there's also energy being stolen from people, so it might be one of those things (it would explain why it disperses harmlessly around San when it goes down).
HALA is short form of....Heart Awaken Live Alive...its from their 1st comeback song HALA HALA. Zia means light. Its a spin off from their Guerilla Album( The World Ep1 : Movement.
UGH SOOOO GOOD. If you haven't seen HALA HALA - HIGHLY recommend. The song, the choreo/performance is literally insane... & they were a rookie group at the time.
Loved your video! This song smacked me in the damn face and has overtaken all the others songs that came out this year for my number 1. And I'm a massive Stay, so I was definitely holding SKZ releases at the top (as much as I love Ateez and what they've released this year) but this blew everything out of the water for me. The incredibly cinematic, haunting, dystopian MV with the spectacular acting, choreography, and symbolism on top of this amazing song just hits so hard. StayTiny have had a bloody good year!
