      Sometimes hitting off turf leaves plastic on the bottom of the club. It's not too bad with a few swings, but if you don't take it off and let it build up it can get pretty hard to take off. Still pretty funny though.

    Do you guys have those special trackman balls from titleist? Trackman indoors has trouble with gear effect and spin axis (toe strikes that should hook become blocks; heel strikes that should fade become pulls). The titleist balls for trackman solve a lot of these issues and are more accurate.

    • @The_Osprey
      @The_Osprey Před 2 lety

      Unless they got this for free they should have sprung for the Foresight GC Quad. They are better indoors. Trackman has the issues you mentioned pretty much indoors from what I recall. Trackman needs to track the ball longer from what I understand to get best data.

    So Grant that sounds like the rattle of destiny and it’s fixable sometimes but not a guarantee. So if it is in the club head it is the small piece of metal that keeps the shaft from going to far into the head. It tends to break on a bad hit close to the shaft it was more common on older drivers that weren’t adjustable. But now that swing speeds are so high even on woods and hybrids it happens to them. They usually put tacky on a cue tip and let it grab the piece then stick it to the inside of the club. The only issue is if the piece is to big it can break loose again. I have 2 drivers that have it. One they couldn’t fix and the other they did but it will break free from time to time. Take it to a professional club smith and they can at least give it a try.

    A suggestion for the simulator Garrett - a buddy of mine did this and it really adds to the realism of it, where the artificial turf is where you tee off, you should add a strip of thicker turf, and then one more of even thicker stuff to simulate when you do hit it in the rough, 2nd cut etc. So when you do on the sim you put the ball in the appropriate rough - makes it a bit more interesting.

    1. It’s not the best for side spin (indoors) it just goes off the angle of the face most times. So you’ll see you hit it heely and it draws instead of fading etc. (why grant hit so many pushes and no draws.)

If it comes loose again just use a hair dryer to heat the head and it will catch. Lastly if it's in the shaft just take the grip off and shake out the debris.

That way you have a chance once you're on the green to gain strokes on your opponent? A guaranteed birdie inside of 10' isn't realistic, although I know it's fair for the match. How many 8 - 10 footers do you realistically make on the course? Putting is by far one of toughest aspects of golf. I've missed 3' birdie putts several times sadly, as have we all! Wish I had a Trackman! That is absolutely so kickass!

    Your club rattle is almost 100% just some apoxy coming loose. Repaired clubs for years and its a super easy fix you can do yourself. Heat up the neck, drill out the apoxy in the clubhead, and just re-apoxy it. I'd just keep playing it till you get some wiggle in the clubhead and just take it off. Or if you can get whatever is clinging to go up to the grip, just regrip it and take that piece of apoxy out.
    Definitely a chance the head comes off, but 9/10 its not a big deal. Just a small piece that sounds bad.

    Can’t believe you guys are playing the old course at 2mph wind. When I played it I was there for 3 days and the lowest wind speed was 17mph. A windy match would be great viewing

    The thing is trackman for St Andrews would be a lot easier than actually playing in the Scottish elements. St Andrews proven by the open either has teeth with wind and hard to play or without wind throwing darts. Scottish weather determines how the course plays. Musselburgh old course is the oldest course which is intertwined with Musselburgh race course.

      Last 4 open winning totals at St Andrew's speaks a little differently, -15, -16, -17 & -19 sounds like the easiest of open courses to be fair as the scores are always low.
