Him taking out those hunts was a cheap move and Iâm happy that it backfired lol
I don't even understand the decision to kill off all your Bison. Sure, it's irritating, but bison herds are so large, the odds of that making any difference in your early pressure are miniscule. He would have been better off using that CDB to collect resources to help defend your inevitable rush. I also don't like his decision to age up and go Skirms. 1200 food and 1000 coin can buy a lot of musketeers, which would have done a far better job of seeing off your pikes and protecting his econ.

The dislike is the French player
a lot of people underestimate pikes. But what people don't realize is VERY FEW units in game counter heavy infantry in melee. Even musks do not have a multiplier against heavy infantry such as rods or pikes in melee. In contrast, pikes and rods actually have a melee multiplier against light infantry (usually skirms) that counter them at range. Pikes are not slow either with 5 speed. if you micro them apart from the slower infantry than they are a lot more effective. Shows why the old han army from china is so good.
Rods are even better combat-wise because they are even faster than pikes. They are on the same speed cav, which makes the rod/lancer combo a fast spanish deathball that hits hard and are very durable in melee. Rods either counter (cav) or break even with almost all units in game in melee, while skirms and lancers tear infantry to shreds. Only thing pikes do better than rods is siege.
you can just make some musks / bows and kite pikes. they will never even come near you without cav or rods to snare. rods and lancer are a hard combo indeed, but spain eco sucks, so you have a lot of time to outmass them. if you hold the first push with falks from spain at minute 7:30 / 8:00 you are good to go. if he plays age 2 take the free win...
Hey Dansil if youâre reading this, is Dakkha Suffering ever a useful card? I used it in a 3v3 and it was so much fun, but I donât really know if itâs practical in a competitive match up.
Gotta love French Settlers. Absolute tanks and are able to act similar to musketeers if you upgrade them!
Since pikes have attack bonus vs buildings, would it have been better if the tc was attacked first?
It has a lot of hp. It would be awesome if he could take it down, but given that the french villagers are strong he could've lost all his pikes before destroying it.

Microsoft doesnât support the game anymore, but you should try seeing if you can play on GameRanger servers without eso account.

spain age 2 sucks. against standard spain naked ff you can play a strong ff civ (china, france, sioux nice with morning star card or so) or you play a rush civ (iro best civ on re, otto easiest and second strongest, atzec or russia).

Its not hard. Make sure you have AOE3 with all the extensions (War Chiefs and Asian Dynasties). Download WOL. Now to the important part: Run all of your original games (in this order: Vanilla, War Chiefs, Asian Dynasties) and change some settings in them. Then install WOL. Run Asian Dynasties. Enjoy.
