Look up Outfield American Band Stand 1986. They played live on the show. I just watched it.
King Biscuit Flower Hour had this whole concert from Tyler, Texas in 1986. Was a great listen. Wish I had recorded it or better yet saw them in concert. Anyone who says Tony Lewis can't hit the Hi Notes live are wrong.

I suppose that the song was such a wonder hit that they got kinda tired of playing the same song over and over again in every show they were invited to. The pitch of the song is not quite easy to reach, maybe this guy was trying to take care his vocal chords.

Eu também tava demorando para achar. Tem um show dele de 99 onde a voz é muito parecida com a versão estúdio, esse cara cantava demais!
@@domierimistic2519 esse clip é um show feito em um programa feito no ano de 86, já o som foi gravado em um show no Texas em 1999.
Vi num outro comentário q por ser uma música top hit da época, eles eram chamados em mts programas e muitas vzs. Até mais de uma vez por dia. Então, é cansativo e sacrificante p cantor ficar cantando a msm música de novo e de novo. Até pq a música é difícil de se cantar

Creo que los hispanos también disfrutamos de esta canción. Me lleva en el tiempo, nací en el 93 pero con esta canción me hace pensar que soy de esa época. Quiero decir que es una de las mejores obras de arte. habla de una historia de Amor. Quedaron cosas pendientes? Si suele pasar. Aveces nos prohibimos de los deseos por ciertos movitos.

Why did they play this in a different key? Only on the chorus did it sound right. Regardless, i saw them in 1985, still one of the best shows ive ever seen.
most likely because the music he sang strained his voice heavily, so he actually would probably drop the key so his voice can keep up and not strain

Learn a bit more about how live singing works and then re-evaluate your comment. I personally don't get why people even listen to live music if they don't like different phrasing and modulation. Just listen to the studio track. He sounds really strong here.

His vocals were very strong. I've noticed he sings it like this on nearly every live recording of this song. He hits lots of high notes in this recording. I think he just enjoys singing it this way
