  • The third part of Coleridge-Taylor's trilogy "Scenes from The Song of Hiawatha", this was first performed on 22nd March 1900 at the Royal Albert Hall, London, with Lillian Blauvelt, Whitney Mockridge and Andrew Black as soloists, conducted by Sir Frederick Bridge.
This off-air recording which I made on cassette is of the BBC's broadcast of a complete performance of the "Scenes" given at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon, in 1975 to mark the centenary of the composer's birth.
The BBC Singers (chorusmaster, John Poole) and BBC Concert Orchestra (leader, Arthur Price) are joined by soloists Cynthia Glover (soprano), Stuart Burrows (tenor) and John Lawrenson (baritone). Cyril Gell played the organ. The performance was conducted by Kenneth Alwyn.
The complete "Scenes" were broadcast live from the Fairfield Halls on BBC Radio 3 on Friday 31st October 1975. This final part started at 9pm.
