Enjoyed the video. Jim is one of my favorites of your quests. He seems to enjoy talking solar and is very knowledgeable .
We have 3 Panasonic panels. Cuz not all solar is created equal. Some solar panels have 32, 36, 48, 60, 72 and 96 cells. Panasonic has 96 cells and are Better at higher performance at high temperatures. Also, it has dual-sided cells that multiply the energy output. Our 3 panels that are 345 watts each, pull power when parked under a carport or in a shaded area. People who just look at watts are missing a bigger picture. We will be running our mini split this summer. We also have 340AH of lithium and more on the way.
I'm just starting up on this journey and you all have some really awesome ideas for all of us.. thank you !!! ❤️

We have 265 watts of power at our cottage which seems to be enough for us, even in our northern winters. We have two power packs in our teardrop with 1-100 watt foldable rockpal panel and another 80 watt foldable panel. Plus we have an onboard AGM battery with a 45 watt panel which is 32 cells, so doesn't need a controller. Everything works fine. ARB 50 liter fridge and a Joytutus 20 liter for our cold drinks.

That was really good. These types of examples are important in DIY. JiminDenver (solar Boondocker channel) was the first person I had ever heard of in my life that had an air conditioner powered by solar and so creative with the panels on both truck and trailer. Ausia from PandaMonium was the first person I ever saw with panels mounted on the side of her rig, also very creative. Even though she does not appear in this video, she has her own channel as well.

Bob would you recommend the Patriot Generator that is being advertised on your videos. It comes with a solar panel and other gifts when it is purchased. Some of the gifts are a solar water heater and a small solar bank.
Sounds like I need to learn about solar.

When I see the set ups with batteries I think what about off Gassing? Im worried about the Panel getting broken on top of my roof. Ive had a sun roof shattered by road debris..I really like these one stop DYI. Im saving this one also.. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your friends. Hello. I have a bit of an off-topic question but it relates to Nomadland. I enjoy making scale 3D models as a hobby (and teach design). I was wondering what the year, make and model is of the van used in the film (Vanguard). Thank you so much.
You completely missed the type of system I'm installing, which is a (Leoch) solar generator connected to solar panels on the roof. Somebody along your travels has to have had a setup like that. Maybe when I get out your way and catch up with you, you can tour my van...
Ok so wiring panels in series DOES seem to be the best way, but I've HEARD (not 100% sure if this is accurate) if one panel gets shade it effects all the panels. Wiring in parallel apparently prevents this. Again, I'm not sure if this is true.
What about storing batteries? How much do agm have vent to be safe can they bd stored inside a RV or van living area? Is it true lithium batteries don't need to be in a vented ckmpartmen?

Why does nobody runs a swamp cooler. If your out in hot dry desert. The cool great run off 12volt pump and fan
It uses a lot of water. We usually have to pay for our water. If we were going to have to go into town to buy more water anyway, we figure we might as well just move to a cooler area.
Anything solar + batteries tech is progressing so fast and prices are falling off the cliff. #OffTheGrid is going to become mainstream and the grid will be kept as a back up... Maybe, lol.
