I will say this now and many times again: artists as talented as this and so many others don't need to be validated by mainstream channels and/or awards. They make music that comes from a raw, pure place that resonates with most who have the privilege of witnessing their talent. We are privileged to be a part of this dialogue. That's good enough for me, a voluptuary being.
Anyone here still resonating with song in 2023? 14yrs later and I'm not over this writing and the message plus that piano and don't forget the star of the show. Asa! Glad you are still making music. Still a fan. Much love from 🇰🇪🇰🇪 Kenya. Next stop...fire on the mountain top Asa...love from Kenya
You know what is amazing. My old teacher put that song in English class in France. She was very old, I don't know if she's still alive. I was one of the only ones who liked the song. And now English is not a mystery for me anymore
You know a song is excellent when it's relevant even after 14yrs. I was 12 when this was released and I enjoyed it as any regular music back the, but as time goes by, your mind evolves as you grow, Asa started to make more sense, more meaning. For some reason I've had Jailer on repeat after my recent Asa cravings. This woman is legendary, deserves more recognition 💜
They played this music everyday on the radios while I was In class 4 this was how I knew I had been late for skul cuz I it played at 7:30am😂and it’s 14 years now
This song has a powerful message behind it. We all fall short somewhere. Instead of spending our energy at pointing out the speck in each others eyes in a manner of destructive criticism, why not be kind to each other and be accommodative of each other. Asa is a robust and powerful artist. Her musical sounds, vibes reach to the soul🙏...just discovered her music two weeks ago. I can say I am having one heck of a good time listening to it.
I always thought when she was talking about Mr Jailer I thought it was a person until I discovered its about imprisonment and the entire society how they judge people. Sometimes society makes us feel like we are in jail
She is one of a kind of artist no soul can copy or duplicate. She is a LEGEND, and her songs speaks to the past, present and the feature. Her music perpetuates many symbols of the reality of every day life as humanity. Just powerful!!!
@@sosamizfit3669 nothing happened to her she’s in abroad with her family and kids and she’s still doing music but not very much tho and she’s still okay and young and making deals here and there and going for events too on a low

Wow! It's been 10 years since you drooped this comment. I hope you're well. I just want to say I'm always happy when I hear how someone inspires another person to do something, especially if it's through music.
I played 'Fire on the Mountain' on the morning of 21/10/20 and cried like a baby. The scenes of our soldiers shooting at fellow citizens at Lekki Tollgate the night before was too much to take; Asa's words was as prophetic as it gets.
I have truly never had the priveledge of listening to, of hearing, of imagining with such an astounding songwriter and musician as well as a true artist of voice and tone. Thank you, Asa, for the amazing experience!
