I will say this now and many times again: artists as talented as this and so many others don't need to be validated by mainstream channels and/or awards. You know what is amazing. My old teacher put that song in English class in France. She was very old, I don't know if she's still alive. I was one of the only ones who liked the song. And now English is not a mystery for me anymore
You know a song is excellent when it's relevant even after 14yrs.
I was 12 when this was released and I enjoyed it as any regular music back the, but as time goes by, your mind evolves as you grow, Asa started to make more sense, more meaning.
For some reason I've had Jailer on repeat after my recent Asa cravings. This woman is legendary, deserves more recognition 💜
I will tell you something, this song will still be relevant in 114, 214 years. It is THAT good. And so is a lot of her other work.

Dear God , I had to come back here after 13 years, this song saw me through the worst times.
This song has a powerful message behind it. We all fall short somewhere. Instead of spending our energy at pointing out the speck in each others eyes in a manner of destructive criticism, why not be kind to each other and be accommodative of each other. Asa is a robust and powerful artist. Her musical sounds, vibes reach to the soul🙏...just discovered her music two weeks ago. I can say I am having one heck of a good time listening to it.
