English Translation :
There are three forms of Maya:
Mahamaya
Mohmaya
Yogmaya
All 3 bind us to Karma.
Gnani rises above Karma. You won't find fulfillment as long the veil of Maya is upon you. You have to breakthrough this veil.
Moh Maya- I want this, that. I want people to say this and not say that. Holding on to the past, and crying within your self is Moh Maya. Objects, people and situations come and go according to Time. Desiring after that which doesn't come to us and crying over what happened to us, binds us to Karma. That is Moh Maya.
Maha Maya- To stay in darkness. This is Tamasic. Moh Maya is Rajasic. Yog Maya is Sattvic.
Attachment to our karma, and cravings and aversions to that Yogmaya causes illusions. We feel like we're very Sattvic. Or we get stuck in some visions. It's very difficult to get out of this. Why? You get siddhis. You see visions. You'll hold on to it. Then it'll slowly start going away as you hold on to it. This person can't get Liberation. He's not sad, but he doesn't find liberation. All the intuition that comes through Yog Maya- 80% may be correct.
To be free from all three mayas- find the cause of all causes.
When I lose something I think someone is the cause for that. For example, I lost my job and the reason for that is my manager. So now you've karmically bound yourself to your manager. You lost it because of your karma. The manager was just a postman. What I had to get, I got. If you realize this you're free. If you think someone is the reason for your sorrow, then you bind yourself in karma.
तस्मै नम: परम कारण कारण्य |
Tasmai Namah parama karana karanaya- You understand that Shiva is the cause of all causes. When you understand this, you become hollow from inside, and divinity wells up in you. No cravings or aversions then. Whatever happened, happened through the paramatma. This is liberation from fear, sorrow, anger. And with liberation from this, you get liberation from the cycle of life and death also.
Despite wanting to do good to someone you won't be able to do it if their karma isn't good. Don't bind yourself in karma. Somethings you have to experience and pass through them.
Buddha's brother got jealous of him. They often feel like they've done everything. They'll have two three people to encourage their thinking. By saying things like, you deserve to earn more respect. When the seed of hatred is sown , the person doesn't realize what he's doing.
He threw a stone at Buddha. But he was saved by a small margin. Naturally the other devotees got upset. Buddha smiled and asked them to sit down calmly. There must have been some karma with him. You don't bind yourself in karma. He's doing this and finishing his karma. The stone didn't do anything to Buddha, because he was beyond karma. Others are making mistakes, but you take it in your heart and keep ruminating over it. There's a saying in Kannada that the sin of the sinner goes into the person who's talking about the sinner.
We have to keep our minds free from this. Closing your eyes and meditating is not sadhana. Sadhana is keeping your mind light. Don't hold on to the past. Move ahead with peace.
Another person who came to Buddha- he annoyed so many people. But he came to Buddha and was transformed completely. When he went back, people started throwing stones at him. He went back smiling to Buddha. When Buddha asked him, what are all these injuries? He said, today I understood what pain they faced because of me. Now my karma is gone.
It becomes a chain reaction. He did this to me, I should do this to him. End karma. Don't let these things come into your mind. Whatever is meant to come to you, will come to you. You will go only after you enjoy what you're meant to enjoy. This is the only reason we get angry right? That we didn't get something we thought we should have gotten or we got something that we did not deserve.
Even Indra cannot steal what's yours. This should be firmly established in your mind. This is what is called Atma Nishtha. I don't want to bind any karma.
The past should be seen as something that had to happen to me. I'm satisfied. I'm not sad about what happened in the past. It's the past only that makes you sad. In the present, only sleep, hunger can make you sad.
If you keep holding on to the past even after you come to a Guru, then what's the use?
When you pray to the Lord as the cause of all causes, see how much peace it can give you.
Adi Shankaracharya says if this Nishtha I'm knowledge is not there, all this sadhana is just a pain for the nose.
You'll say, Guruji this is easy to say. Not easy to follow. Maya's hands are very long. She'll hold you. When you get the thought that I don't want to bind myself in karma, that's when you start to become free.
When someone comes to you to complain about something, say namaste. If you can do something about it, then that's okay. If you go to a doctor with a complaint, they'll be able to do something. You can complain to a Guru. Although he won't do anything about it. Because he knows that what is meant to happen will happen.
By thinking about someone, what do you get out of it? It becomes a habit. We get pleasure out of thinking about someone. You keep a fight on with someone or the other at every point in your life. That habit of complaining is on. Even if you're complaining about a different person each time. People develop a taste for complaining. They get pleasure out of it. If someone is doing some Meditation and some good work on the road, there nobody stops to watch. They only stop to watch where there's a fight happening. A whole crowd gathers. Even in serials and movies, people find a lot of interest in negativity. We have to get out of this habit.
In ashrams previously, you'd have to go through exactly what you didn't like. To bring you out of your aversions.
Even in our courses earlier, we'd do this. One girl was averse to drinking milk. So I made her drink milk, and the aversion disappeared. Someone said, I don't get along with my uncle. So I told them to behave like their uncle. After doing that for half an hour, he thought, oh my uncle is just fine in his own place.
The binds of our karma are removed. When you have problems with your mother in law or father in law, and you keep thinking about them, and hating them, I'm telling you, they'll come back to your house. Even after death, there's no liberation. That's why they say, empty your mind before dying. Keep it peaceful.
