About 40 seconds of easy mistakes to fix (tree tops, icy flight, gnasty's loot). This won't be my final run, but it's fairly clean for now.

Imagine being Gnasty Gnorc. You cast this amazing spell to freeze all the dragons and steal all their treasure to turn into minions for your cause, only to be completely undone in just over an hour.
Well to be frank, I've played the game enough that I can Ace every level first try with no deaths, if ya do, you can actually completely Skip Dreamweavers and to straight to Gnasty, that takes about- 6 Hours?
Spyro works quick, even without trying.
I find this really enjoyable and satisfying to watch, much more than any% speedruns, where the goal seems to be to break the game as much as possible. I love efficiency.
Am I right? Mario 64 speedruns only make me angry xD
I always go for 100% but in this case efficiency is the opposite of what you talking about. Efficient = performing with the least waste of time and effort.

Very very impressive man. I love to see a run that glitchless. This is pure skill and precise knowledge of all the levels of the game. Don't know how you guys manage to do that lol
This run was done within just a couple weeks of the game coming out on PS4. The route was heavily transferred from the original PS1 game, which I have been running for almost 8 years. The only things to figure out were small tweaks to the route, the game engine, and a few minor quirks. I was 80% of the way there by default.

This means a lot and I appreciate it. This run was done within 1 month of the game's release and it's still 5th place. I never felt like I quite achieved what I wanted in this game, but I've moved on from it anyway.

For that matter, imagine being ANY enemy in this game and seeing a purple dragon speeding at you like a flaming meteorite
Excellent execution. Obviously there were a handful of mistakes but nearly flawless. Keep on playing & I hope Spyro gets some more well-deserved attention soon.

I had to slow the video down to half speed just to comprehend what you did on the crazy Tree Tops route. That was amazing- I've never seen it done that way before!
Spyro is a simple game but when played at this standard the smallest things can really make it difficult. Very well played.

This is so impressive! Great run. Always wondered what the hardest parts of the speed run were, seems like so many small things could mess up a run like this.

I'm not a speedrunner, nor am I even really that good at gaming, but I studied the crap out of this video and I was able to finish in 5 hours on my first try, which im pretty proud of, considering a regular playthrough would take me double the time

Glad you noticed! This was the first run with the Stone Hill route and the Artisans level swaps, both of which I tested and timed shortly before the attempt. Sub 1:10 by March!

Why are load times counted in the overall time? That sort of excludes people who don't have a PS4 pro. Also, why does the time start immediately and not when you first get control of Spyro? Seems kinda pointless to pad the time by an extra 30-50 seconds depending on load times for the intro.
I don't use a PS4 Pro or an SSD. Timing is ranked in-game, which is why this is a 1:12 instead of a 1:50. See the end of the video for the in-game time display.

@@MattZelda not 38 minutes of loading, but the in game timer also stops when you're talking to a dragon or fairy i believe

Incredible run such a wacky game to speed run
At the time that I got this run, it had been about 18 hours of the category, and maybe 10 hours of Any%. I have been running Spyro on PS1 since 2012 though, so a lot of the skill/knowledge translated for me fairly smoothly. I probably have 3000 to 4000 hours in the series if I had to guess.

Why do you say the run is 72 minutes when it's closer to 112?
The In-Game timer is the standard we compare our runs with on this version of the game. 1:50:31 was the Real Time for this speedrun, but 1:12:09 is what is shown in the guidebook after Gnasty's Loot. With this method, PS4 runs can be compared to XBOX runs with SSD or HDD and it's even across the board.
Any use of chest or glitch. I speed run this allot and the time seems off
I'm not a speedruner, but If I tryed speedruning this game, I would do the speedways first, because they take the most time, and If I'm too slow on them I would redo the run, which I would rather do earlyer in the run than later.
How do you do that charge-jump thing that helps you reach further platforms?

Glitch breaking speak runs are trash. This was legendary.
Can anyone tell me the exact reason why it is so much faster to run 120% in Spyro 1 in Reignited compared to OG Spyro 1. Is it a load time difference or something because I just find it crazy the difference between the 2.

I enjoyed this run a lot and it taught me some things I need to do for my run, but where does the 1hr 12min time come from? I'm watching at 1hr 30min and they're confronting Jacques?
The real world time for the run is 1:50:31, but the in-game time displayed on the file select and in the guidebook displayed as 1:12:09. It was the best way to compare runs played on slower hardware vs on faster hardware, like PS4 HDD vs XBOX SSD, since it'd be a shame to need to have the best equipment for players to compete with each other.

Probably! It also depends on your loads and your route. I don't know what my IGT is at that point in the run, but if you remove the loads from your run and any other you see, you may find a difference.

3 - I think the achievement was to charge every bull and not flame any of them. The gems just happen to home in only when you charge so it's faster to do this.
4 - Yeah, the game isn't very honest with what things are solid and what isn't. Luckily it only costed a couple seconds as the load-in doesn't count against in-game time.
5 - No, it wasn't, but there is a faster strategy for it now. This run was done within the first few weeks of the game being released.
6 - It's faster.
7 - Not a mistake, but it's better to flame this one because of the chests I also have to collect.
8 - It's not remembering, it's routing.
9 - It's faster.
10 - It worked, the rocket went up and broke the strongchest (so I don't have to fly down to the rocket from above). Sorry you couldn't get it to work for yourself.
11 - I think this is the wrong timestamp?
@@Jumpyluff I fixed the time stamp on 11. You turned around in Ice cavern, when there was no aparent reason to. Presumably you thought you missed a blue gem?
