  • Hi friends! In today's video, I go over my plan to achieve financial independence (and maybe retire early?)!
    👩🏻‍💻 About Me
    I’m a 20-year-old senior year nursing student living at home while working part time. I’m currently focused on investing and saving as much as I possibly can while living a "rich life."

    Hi friends! I (again) apologize for the background noise in this video, that won't be a problem in the near(ish) future. What are your guys' thoughts on having captions in the video (do you prefer it or would you rather have it as an option)? Let me know :)

    I plan on reaching coast fire within the next 11 years. I basically restarted my financial journey and left my 20s with a negative net worth due to a failed relationship. Within the last 26 months I have hit a six figure net worth and will hopefully be able to aggressively save and reach seven figures before I leave my 30s. Once I hit my number I plan on switching to a less stressful job, maybe teaching overseas for a work visa to travel, while living on a pension and allowing my investments to compound. I have a hairbrain idea of buying a sailboat one days and traveling around the world but I'm probably to frugal for it. Goodluck on your journey!

    On step 5, just for thought. You could purchase a duplex, or even a triplex and you could probably end up living for free by renting the other unit out which is what I decided to do for first house and it worked out really well!

    • @ScrubsandSavings21
      @ScrubsandSavings21  Před dnem

      I’ve thought of doing that for a first home! Unfortunately, though, there aren’t many duplexes or triplexes in my area :/

    You do a good job at this already, but don't be afraid to jump on spontaneous travel while you're young. I saw cheap flights to Paris for $260 round trip in March and snatched them up. It was such a wonderful experience that was worth 10x what I spent on the trip. You're only young once.

      i believe A massive benefit with Fidelity is when you deposit money to be invested. Your money earns 4.99% interest until you buy shares. So if you're doing cash secured puts your still earning interest on your money.

      Recently, I've been pondering retirement. I've also invested $800K on S&P 500 so i could secure my financial future. i need an approach to invest in Stocks like Nvidia stocks and of course AI stocks that will align with my risk tolerance and financial goals but it seem to be bearish right now.

    It sounds like you have a pretty solid plan. If you are looking for a sneaky bonus retirement account, you can look into an HSA. They aren't just for medical expenses. There are several benefits to them from a tax and medical expense perspective. but the thing I am most interested in, is after age 65 you can withdraw money from it for any reason and only be taxed at ordinary income tax. No penalty.

    • @ScrubsandSavings21
      @ScrubsandSavings21  Před 6 dny

      I completely forgot to include using an HSA as a retirement account instead of a transaction account. Thank you for your comment :)

    I live with my parents still, I’ve maxed out my Roth these past 2 years and I am building a solid dividend portfolio. I am not contributing to a 401k due to the scare of it not catching up to inflation, but I am investing in my brokerage. I do use credit cards since they are ways for me to enhance my life, in this situation, the gold and platinum. And having the Charles Schwab platinum, my points pool together to redeem as cash straight into my brokerage. I have family as authorized users, I rarely spend and they do it all for me. I love the platinum perks with hotels and priority pass when I do travel.

    • @YumDex

      Next step is to open an HSA if possible…

      I love that your set up works for you. Does your employer contribute to your 401k if you contribute?

    • @YumDex
      @YumDex Před 6 dny

      @@ScrubsandSavings21 yes, they do match. Do keep in mind I refrain from it because of the fear of my money not catching up to inflation. Even if it’s tax free, I’ll enjoy my dividend portfolio. I won’t jump into something I’m not sure will have a good outcome whereas index funds and dividends are very safe due to past history proving they are.
