Except it's not a crossover of East and West, because both Dimash and Tegri are Asian (if you even couldn't tell by both their features! 😂😂) Kazakhstan is literally next door to China - Kazakhs are one of the 56 recognised ethnic groups that make up China. So there's a lot of cross pollination between the two nations.

I think, a huge problem is the language barrier. The three biggest music markets are the US, Japan and Germany. Japan and Germany make lots of music for their home market, but little breaks out onto a global stage. Smaller music market have even less of a chance, not due to quality, but due to money and number of artists.

Loved your reaction, thank you. Noticed a few comments that said Tengri wrote this for his daughter. Not quite correct. He wrote this many years ago to lament on the increasing loss of nature in his beautiful China Mongolia to industrialization. He stopped singing this song for a while until he was on The Singer 2018, as a dedication to his daughter who passed away at a very young age. Again, about the loss of something/someone he loved.

  • @saraannedesainthubert2911

Hi from Paris, dear Arab man! I love the way you express your feelings and your claim is so right! Mongolian Tengri is a great artist who deserves worldwide recognition. We are all a unique race of human beings wherever we were born. But don’t worry, the less acknowledged East part of the world, and others ignored, will be soon in greater power and the West will have to admit it is not only overwhelming Western culture that offers beauty! The Internet will change the face of the world, for the best, and the worst as both always go together!

When writing this song, the vegetation on the grassland in Tengri's hometown was badly destroyed. He wanted to awaken people's consciousness of loving nature and protecting the grassland through the song, and at the same time, he missed the scenery of his hometown in his childhood memories.
    Lyrics:
    Blue bright sky
    Clear rippling water, ohhh
    Green fresh grassland
    This is my home, ayyye
    Galloping gallant horses
    White innocent sheep, ohhh
    And you my girl

Hua Chenyu did a cover of this song on another show - very different performance, but also breathtaking. He did it before watching this performance from the green room in this video - you can see the respect and awe in his face as he reacts.
Not to detract from Tengri's performance. He is a very, very respected artist who has amazing talent. This song - his original - is on my list of favorites.
I read that yes, it is about his homeland of Inner Mongolia, but the sorrow and anger he expresses comes from the fact that his home has been ravaged by developers and he is or was working to re-forest the land. The man with grey hair you see crying in the back room is also from Mongolia and identifies with the song also.

This song was written by Tengri himself, as a Mongolian ballad, about his homeland, the grand Mongolian Grassland. The name "Heaven" also has the same meaning as his name Tengri (heaven, The god[s] in the heaven)
Note: The traditional Mongolian faith is Shamanism, or "Mengke-Tengri-Shamanism", in which they believe after death the souls go to the "lower realm" where is the same as our mundane world, which, most probably means a grand prairie.
After the death of Tengri's young daughter, he gradually turns this "Heaven" song into something to memorize the girl. "Heaven" and the grand prairie described in the song refers to a place that his daughter's soul will come and rest in peace in. He craves to go back to this "homeland prairie" in order to reunion with his daughter as a family - that is what is conveyed in the chorus.
You 've heard the sorrow, the pain, maybe the self-amnesia behind a great desperation - you do have ears of humanity. Respect

Tengri was in Singer 2018 with Hua Hua. Tengri came 4th. In the post final group interview of Singer 2018, Hua Hua stated that in the last song he sang, “Shout", also known now as "New World", the woo woo woo part he sang was taught to him by Tengri.
You wondered in a previous video, who Hua Hua’s influences were. In an interview he mentioned Muse and a band called Sodagreen. In a 2014 concert, Hua Hua covered Muse’s version of “Feeling Good”. Oh boy, is it so good!!! I prefer the version translated by Baby Bamboo. There are two version of this song on the video, the first one being just the song played over stills. If you go to 3.06 minutes the live video starts here.

Singer 2018 had Tengri, Hua Chenyu and Jessie J, you see Hua Hua in the back with mouth falling open, ha ha. He learned the "Oooo" from Tengri and used in 7 Personalities . Thanks for returning to Tengger and The Singer. You make a good point about the flow of music from the west to the world. Their music comes back to us with immigrants who come here. But they don't connect directly in their home countries? Not Middle East to/from Asia, but through a western platform like YT where English is the main language.. Is that what you mean? I didn't realize that. On the US west coast, we have big Asian communities and the fusion of west and east is familiar. Growing up I heard the sounds of Polynesia , China, Japan, India the Philippines and Vietnam. I heard their music and languages in neighborhoods of Los Angeles and San Francisco, with every region o the world, including Middle East. But you don't hear much East Asian music in the Middle East? Interesting. Am I reading to much into it? lol. Thanks for the thoughtful reaction

👉 This performance was at the "Singer 2018" competition. Tengger or Tengri (translated: sky) *1960 is a well-known Chinese singer, songwriter and composer of Mongol ethnicity. He was born in Inner Mongolia.
With his song, Tengri expresses his love for his homeland, the formerly wide grasslands of his childhood. (They no longer exist) and also his longing for his little daughter. (She died at the age of 6).
    Heaven
    The azure sky
And the crystal clear lake - alas!
    The green grassland
    - That is my homeland - alas!
    The running horses
And the pure wite sheep - alas!
    Along with you, beautiful girl
    - That is my homeland - alas!
    I love you, my homeland!
My home land - my paradise!
    I love you, my homeland!
My home land - my paradise!

Our world would be so much better place if we just could exchange our music instead of bombs and bullets. In music we are equal. Singing is probably the most ancient habit in humankind - something we could share despite we might not speak same language. It has liberated countries (e.g. Estonia) , told stories , you in deeper level understand (like in this video happened). Now in this minute peaceful protestors on the streets and parks are singing against the g-cide. Music - greatest form of express feelings.
