- These tunes are pretty much all played in Cajun tuning (DGCF smallest to largest) which is one whole step down from standard tuning (EADG). Each string is called out by its standard tuning name.

Hi Mitch, Thanks for the video. In Egypt where I'm from, you will find classical Arabic violinists tune to FCGD because it gives a warmer feeling to the music played, or GDGD for an easier approach. I personally like the FCGD tuning better and was interested to know if others around the world tuned violins differently as well :)

So once you tune your Fiddle down a whole step (FCGD) then you're playing in the Key of D Major (Sounds as C Major) & the fun thing is that it puts the music in a much easier key.
How about dead man's tuning?....DDAD?....I built a nice fiddle and am trying to learn to play it.... I'm almost 82....
