Everyone in the USA thinks that you need "perfect" weather to ride. Everyone in the UK (from what I've seen, anyway) doesn't care if it's overcast, windy, or rainy, (unless there's like a serious storm or somthing like that) they just deal with it and enjoy the ride anyway!

I have only been riding a little while (since around january 2020) but i help out by looking after and exercising a pony for a sisters friends grandmother. She has been teaching me and wants me to be able to go down and take this pony out for a hack or into their school on my own. She also said to me that when i cam canter well off the lunge that we can go on the local drag hunt as the pony i ride loves it. Every time the hunt goes past he becomes all excited. I normally ride abput 2 to 4 times as they only live 2 minutes down the road and let me ride the pony for free but I last rode 3 weeks ago and had my first canter, it was on a lunge, but due to corona i cant even go and see this pony. I was also just getting a bond with him.
Whether you like fox hunting or not, you have got to agree that galloping across the countryside on those huge horses takes an enormous amount of courage. The ladies look gorgeous in their outfits too.

Unfortunately the hysterical and short sighted sabs have closed the Atherstone with no regard to the hunt horses or the pack. Fox hounds do not make good pets and cannot be rehomed as such. They are pack animals with an extremely high prey drive and are amazingly agile and jump walls with ease. The only viable solution is to try to find another hunt with the kennel space and money to take on another pack; otherwise these hounds will be shot. Then the sabs will terrorise and sab that hunt into closure and 2 packs of hounds, totalling approx. 200 hounds that will be shot. Sabs do not understand that in closing down hunts they are signing the death warrant of the hounds and any elderly or unsound horses that cannot be sold. But hey, they might have saved 1 fox.
This has always been a dream of mine, unfortunately my mom wont let me ride in a saddle or with stirrups, so I have a lot of endurance to build up before I set off on a quest like this. Wish me luck!

i don't know anything about hunting, but aren't the horses' tails meant to be braided or tied so that it doesn't get caught in brambles and bushes? correct me if im wrong.
Drag hunting is where the hounds and the hunt track a human runner who is dragging a cloth that is soaked with a human made scent, this is also called a clean boot hunt. Fox hunting is where the hounds find and track the scent of a live fox to potentially capture it. Fox hunting is illegal in the UK and many people do not know the difference. :) hope this helps :) x

Drag hunting is a pretence at following a trail. CZcams has thousands of videoes of faux drag hunts being used as cover for illegal hunting. For instance, 95% plus of hunts employ terriermen with dogs who have no place in drag hunting, only illegal activity.
Nor me, I've never fox hunted. I think drag hunting is more predictable so you feel you've got more out of it I guess? Although this particular meet wasn't that exciting 🙈 the pack I normally go with (the readyfields) are great with loads of jumping. ☺

I did the atherstone hunt a few years back, and it was a blast! Very scary but also thrilling! Definitely need to go back
