    As a stalwart BLUENOSE of over 45 years, it is both shocking and disappointing how my beloved club has treated John Eustace! He has done an excellent job!!! WHILST i can appreciate and respect (to some degree) the ambition of the new owners, including Tom Brady; the truth is that this has happened twice before.
    Firstly Steve Bruce (and coach Jason Bowen) - three solid years in the Premier league finishing in very good positions consecutively. Respectfully, Mark Bowen leaves to work with Mark Hughes and Eric Black is brought in to play a more expansive style of football - we were relegated that season!
    And secondly, Gary Rowett is sacked after a win so as Gianfranco Zola (a superb player and generational genius) replaces him immediately - at a time when we were 7th. We won 2 games out of 22 matches and were nearly relegated, finishing 21st.
    IN SHORT, NO LESSONS LEARNED. But i do hope that Wayne Rooney proves us wrong but his record in terms of coaching/management style do not pull up any trees.
    BLUES should never mistreat 'good' managers as they have been few and far between at BCFC in the last two decades.

      I dispute Eustace is a good manager, he’s mediocre at best. Numerous winless runs last season & another 6 games this season, usually against other struggling teams: namely QPR, Watford & Norwich who were all in poor form until they played us. He comes across in his post match interviews as one dimensional & vision less; questionable team selections & bemusing tactics aren’t glossed over by two home wins. Perhaps if you combine all this you’ll see why the board had little faith in Eustace taking us forward. & why are you comparing Rooney to Bruce or Rowett? Are they clones of each other? They all failed for different reasons. Let’s also remember Bruce is one of the most successful in getting teams promoted. & if Rowett is such a genius how come he’s not achieved a single promotion since he left us? We’ve an ambitious board full of winners, I suspect they want a manger who shares their view & Eustace never echoed those sentiments. For better or worse everyone’s now talking about our club, before we hardly got acknowledged.

      @@Korvintage64I don’t recall saying Bruce was a poor manager for Blues. I was simply stating that the Board (and some fans) demanded more expansive football hence Black was brought in. Bruce achieved success with BCFC…I was at the Milennium stadium when we beat Norwich in the playoff finals 😊
      Finishing between 9th and 13th in three seasons in the Prem was definitely success with the limited resources we had.
      And whilst Rowett may not have been elite, he certainly did better than Zola in his time at Blues. Fact!
      But you’ve missed my point altogether, if you become a club that changes Managers (when in 6th) for an unproven manager then not so fantastic as an attractive beacon for future candidates. Rooney was and is a great player and legend however he has achieved nothing as a football manager/coach??
      As I said I respect the owners ambition but don’t become a Watford, changing managers many times for no end result.

    Was Matterface calling out Eustace when were on losing streaks last season? Did he say anything about the winless streak we were on just three matches ago, 5 in the league 6 in total, that had plummeted my team down the league to 14th? Was Matterface in daily contact with Eustace like Cook had been? How many of Eustace's awful, clueless post match interviews has Matterface seen let alone commented on? Little wonder the board lost faith in Eustace. Has Matterface ever said much about Birmingham City until this managerial change? He's just another no mark jumping on the social media bandwagon, fishing for likes, with barely any knowledge of what's gone before, criticising because of the optics not the substance. Matterface would be better served improving his mediocre commentary skills, rather than passing comment on a board that are trying to turn around a club that has suffered decades of neglect!

      @willmunny9279 Před 7 měsíci +7

      He can both accept that the owners are trying to turn things around and be critical of how they are attempting to do it. These things aren't mutually exclusive? Like a lot of fans looking in it doesn't make a lot of sense to sack a manager who has just won 2 games on bounce and replace him with a coach who has a very mixed record. Not to mention that under a lot of other managers Blues would have gone down last season. "Clueless post match interviews"? Christ, is that really the best you can do to justify this?

    • @Korvintage64
      @Korvintage64 Před 7 měsíci +3

      @@willmunny9279 not sure comprehension is your strong point. Also you say Rooney has very mixed record? He’s not be in management that long. He saved Derby from relegation having only been there 4 months & next season the club were deducted 21 points, so highly unlikely any manager be it Pep, Klopp or Fergie would have prevented the drop. He was a football manager not a miracle worker. I mentioned the winless runs of last season & this; the fact Eustace essentially showed little conviction or vision of how to correct things in any of his post match interviews. If his conduct & presentations were equally inept at internal meetings little wonder the new consortium, (that contain very professional, high achievers in major public companies & a sporting legend like Tom Brady), were unconvinced he could take the club forward. No doubt others within the club, who’ve been around for some time eg. Craig Gardener, would have also been consulted. You think Eustace should have been retained because he won two consecutive matches at home, whereas we’ve all seen plenty of other managers fired for 6 winless results & a steep drop down the league; I suspect his fate was sealed back then & deservedly so. Discussions were probably already initiated with Rooney & those two victories came too late to put the genie back in the bottle. It was a ruthless decision, but most managerial changes are & football is a very ruthless business. Matterface has worked long enough in the game to be fully aware of this, so his public bleating is a wet, weak & typically soaked in BBC hard done by sentimentality. It should also be remembered that most football managerial changes also ultimately end in failure. I hope Rooney, who wouldn’t necessarily have been my first choice, has an outstanding successful season & proves the 90% that have criticised his appointment wrong.

    Very silly appointment. Rooney will fail. He was over rated as a player, a man and as a manager. Good luck to Birmingham. They will need it.

      @andrewroberts4736.........Wow! Thanks so much for your refreshingly honest and inciteful comment! I am a life-long Man Utd fan and firmly believe that Rooney has to be one of the most over-rated players in football history.
      Yes, some of the things he did were exceptional, and you can't really fault his work rate and endeavour. But FFS, his 'first-touch' was woeful. His passing [even short passes] was shocking and the number of times he lost possession, committed needless fouls [that often cost us goals] is a joke.
      As a manager [and as a person] he leaves a lot to be desired and it will be interesting to see how things go for him at B'ham City. But it never ceases to amaze me how Rooney got so much praise as a player when in truth he was often as bad as he was good.

      How many goals & games won before those two wins? None in 6 & we dropped down to 14th place in the league. We lost to Watford & Norwich who were on losing steaks themselves, 3-1 at home to Cardiff & drew with the league’s then whipping boys QPR. Eustace had hardly covered himself or the club in glory.

      Yeah and 14 wins in 53 in a mini mouse in which QPR would do rather well in is definitely an improvement

    Absolutely shocking decision. We all know what is going to happen, Rooney will start losing games, he will lose the dressing room, lose the fans and the whole thing will end in tears! The fans don't deserve it but the board certainly do. Meanwhile we'll all enjoy watching the car crash! 🙄
