Crazy how time flies!! I remember in the late 90’s I was a decent local racer in the San Diego area & actually had my last win at the last race at the old Carlsbad Motocross Track. I remember riding Ocotillo Wells with some of the OG’s of Freestyle before they blew up. I don’t wanna name drop but back in the 90’s I thought I could hold my own with a lot of these guys, I wasn’t a freestyle rider but I loved hitting natural terrain gaps & I honestly thought my little 60’-90’ hits at Glamis or Wells was something special then these dudes took it 10 Levels Up & I realized me & my small crew did not have the size balls needed to even hold their helmets during a water break!! It’s a trip watching these older videos during the biggest time of progression in the history of dirt bikes!! Have so much respect & admiration for everything the innovators did for dirt bike riding!! Unfortunately like everything else it feels that Corporate America put their greedy paws into something that was fun & competitive & drained it for everything it could get & left it to wrought!! I think Free Riding Videos is making a comeback but I wonder if Freestyle will ever have the Prestige it once did in the golden years. I also joined the Army & eventually moved to Texas once I got out of the military so maybe I’m just out of touch but from me following Freestyle & Racing throughout the years, it feels like the sport & its pioneers with the exception of a few household names has been left behind. I really hope before our generation has timed out that a lot of these dudes get the love & recognition they are owed!! Much Love & Respect!! Awesome to go back & watch when History was being made!!
Thr crazy thing is both these guys just did his first, Travis already landed a double flip at Xgames a year prior. That's gnarly. I thought this was 2005 early 2006 because potter was in the nitro Circus movie trying to flip a huge step up which was the same movie where Travis landed his first double before taking it to xgames in 2006

Had tickets to the Crusty tour outside of Cali here in the States but they canceled due to not selling enough tickets I guess. I was disappointed and pissed haha, we had drove over an hour to get there ha. Back then news didn’t spread everywhere like it does these days. No smart phone shxt back then ha. Just cool to see all this stuff. I thought Metal Mulisha was the coolest F’n thing ever created ha. They weren’t the only dudes who had black plastic and were free ridin. It was cool because finally we had a group I felt that represented all of us outcasts I guess you could say of racing etc. Like a big middle finger to the politics BS. We would wear our camo BDU pants, Dickies, just whatever when we rode ha. Then we saw dudes doing the same who were now getting paid for it and it was just like wow, right time at the right place, these dudes are now rockstars livin the dream. Too F’n cool. I am the same age as Twitch and so it was cool to see him tear it up in competition back then. Dude still is as far as Free Ridn is concerned. Miss these days though.🤙🤘
