To get the same setup on your LinnStrument, you'll need a mac running Logic. Here's what to do:
    1. On LinnStrument, press PRESET. On the right side of the PRESET screen, briefly press the blue pad nearest the top. This is "All Settings" memory #6, which will overwrite all settings in your LinnStrument with those necessary for the drums & bass setup.
    2. Download my file of LinnStrument-optimized sounds for Apple's Logic, which can be done in the Recommended Sounds page, in the listing of MPE sounds, "Apple" entry. Open that file in Logic, then select the track "Elec Filter Kit" and also enable the Record button ("R") on the "Upright Bass" track.
You can also find these instructions on the rogerlinndesign.com site's Panel Settings page, accessed from the LinnStrument Support page. On the Panel Settings page, click the "Preset/Volume" tab and read the section "The 6 'All Settings' memories".

    Roger,
Just wanted to extend a tip of the hat to you and the LinnStrument. I am an Industrial Design student at Iowa State University currently formulating a research project on the next generation of electronic musical instruments. Though my project is more focused on discovery, as this is my first immersion into the engineering behind these devices, I truly believe in the disconnect between buttons/switches/knobs and human beings' musical/artistic expression. I have spent a decent amount of the time with the Akai MPC 500, and though I appreciate the instrument and its capabilities, my visions/ideas for human-controller interaction have always consisted of a more fluid interface like the one that you have created here. This product is definitely an inspiration for myself and other designers/musicians/artists.
    Much respect!
    -Dan

Hmm.. sort of out of reach for me. Im not sure if it would make sense, but a third of the size for a lower tag? It looks like a totally new instrument to explore :) My head goes dizzy thinking of all the parameters you could bind it to. All that experimental ambient waiting to happen :D

I'm working on a smaller, 16-column model, but anything smaller than that would be difficult to play tuned parts on, just as a guitar with 8 frets would be difficult to play. For drum pad players, I'd like to make a version with larger drum pads, but my company is tiny--just me with some outside help--so it takes me a while to finish new products.

Yeah, I was wondering how to effectively play drums on this amazing device.

Roger, i'm curious, do you think to make bigger pads in one part of linnstrument, leaving other part with smaller, or all keys would be bigger?)
